It's called a guard point. Basically, some animations in the charge blade's moveset put the shield in front of you when you attack, and if a monster attacks you at that precise moment, then it counts as a block. There are tons of good videos on guard points ! :)

Against Nergigante? Or monsters in general? Nergigante is easier to knock down because of breaking the spikes that are growing on him. Also, if you've been playing in groups, getting those types of hits in won't knock him down or break the spikes instantly because the thresholds are higher.

It's the diablos charge blade with 2 attack augmentations. He has more than 1000 attack dmg with the chargeblade and he attacks most of the time his weakspots. The weapon is fucking madness
