I presume I'm not the only person over a certain age to think of that gas central heating advert from the 70's/80's every time Rob said the word dye: (said in a Welsh accent) "we've got gas central heating; even in the toilet. noooo. Aye Dai." Thanks for the video Rob, I'm loving these leather working tutorials.
Aup Rob absolute fantastic video that .Thanks so much for my sheath it fantastic I have had other leather sheaths and there not a patch on yours all you TH-cams out there this is you man absolute fantastic work or as Rad Brad would say AWESOME 😀 cheers buddy legend 👍
9-17-22 Just got my sheath today and I couldn’t be happier! Absolute top quality, and my knife fits perfectly…snaps in place! Beautiful craftsmanship! Thank you so much!
@@RobEvansWoodsman just normal dove soap Rob.. just spray the leather rub a little on and go for it 👍 don't mind leatherwork but can't stand the stitching bit 🙄
Disclosing all your secrets..... really informative video and I just hope you are ready for the thousands of orders from Mora as it is better than the leather sheath they provide (for a premium).👍👍
Sheaths can be spendy to make these days , the price of leather is getting ridiculous. I like making my own but recently for hobby knife blank builds i just buy a Brisa sheath. That said , having a legit qell made leather sheath is so much nicer in the end. Awesome work and video .
Rob that's another great video on sheaths. Just so happens I'm thinking about a new sheath for my MoD knife and my garberg. Almost as if you are reading my mind. Top work. Thanks
Thankyou as always Rob , super vid and as always I learned some good stuff from it , not that my skill level will ever match yours, but little things you show will help no end. Out of interest I bit the bullet and ordered the Fallkniven F1 x in elmax , it comes wednesday and I am looking forward to be disappointed in it lol
Excellent! The dip dying was amazingly fast. The forming looks easier and as good as kydex. I may never make a sheath but I enjoy seeing how quality work is done. Ever made a leather sheath for an SRK?
Like your approach, thanks for sharing! I'm making sheaths myself sometimes and still searching for a method to prevent the leather dye leaving marks on lighter coloured handles over time. Tried wax and resolene but not to full success so far. Do you have hint maybe?
Hey Rob, I love this video, and to answer your previous commenter question like me Rob is still waiting for his dbk knife... It should only be a week or three now untill we recieve them... Excited. We'll I am. And Rob do you make sheaths for customers if so how much would a right handed mora garberg danglrr sheath be?
I could ask you a ton of questions on this vid, but I'll restrain myself to just a few. One; where do you get your leatherwork hand tools from? I prefer "Two Cherries" in Germany for my woodworking tools, but I never did any leatherwork. Two; What grade leather is that? You do some fine work Maestro; that was very enjoyable to watch. It gives the viewer an appreciation of the work that goes into making the things we use and love.... Worth a months membership just for that. By the way, did you ever get your DBK? I was gonna hold that for a private message, but what the hell...... LOL!!! ; )
Still waiting for the DBK knife, apparently I pressed the button for a regular knife not the limited edition one so I'm in the second batch which is shipping now. Tools are branded Tandy, basic ones.
@@RobEvansWoodsman I wonder if I should just make the holes bigger and see if they close up OK after the wet forming? Honestly people don't appreciate the amount of work or skills needed in a knife blade, in a handle, in a sheath.
@@RobEvansWoodsman I've started to use one having seen your tutorials - tbh i think my leather kit needs upgrading from beginer "playing at it" level - to robust. Lots of pointers from copying you mate, much appreciated.
im having problems with punching holes for sewing, they allways go out unprecisely to my markings. What do you do to allways punch your holes out precisely in and out?
@@RobEvansWoodsman i do have a drill press. I tried doing it with it, but it kept pulling the heck out of the leather when i reversed the drill. Do i need a specific drill bit?
I've handled the benchmade pukko as I was going to buy one but I thought it was very small and light, a bit of a toy really, couldn't justify the cost next to a Mora. I know some guys love it , it just didn't float my boat.
Watched this a few times ,great work, mate .have a great week .God bless you and your family. Lee

Nice one Rob, very informative.
Great job. Using the dye for wet forming is smart👍
Great and fun project! I have 3 Mora knives and love them. My Garberg would be happy with such a sheath as well I reckon.
Great that, I finally got my MOD knife sheath made your video gave me a kick up the arse.👍😁

Nice bit of leather work there Rob.. just started using dove soap for burnishing and it works a treat 😁all the best Lincoln 👍🤙

Great vid as usual - what brand needles are you using? I've tried a few and the eyes keep snapping when they get pulled through the leather.....
These are from the identity store , they only last two or three sheaths then the eyes break.
