5:03 I relate to this so much. Just had this at a recent show where I did a bunch of less prepared things like performing a song I just finished writing the day before hahaha, and that lack of prep tends to get to me. I still got so emotionally into it and sounded great because that's my natural strength, the artistry part, but the technique didnt feel good so even though i got compliments it was like now i know i cant just trust that direction 100%, i know i still have to get my technique more stable if i want that kind of singing to be sustainable

Interesting view on deleting stuff if it doesn't feel good. I'm definitely about sound over feel for recording.
It is an interesting view but I believe Phil says that if it feels good it will inevitably sound better
