Being a choir kid back in high school we were trained a lot on this. My teacher had me trained as first tenor because I was the only one with enough confidence to actually sing high. Now if I could practice screaming without giving my grandma a heart attack it'll all be good.
I used to imagine an invisible ball of energy and moving within it. But Rachel has explained it better than I previously understood. Time to comb through all your content!
I remember when I learned belting and it’s been a life saver. It is great in musical theater because it gives you a powerful and loud voice but it also just feels freeing in general. Belting is super fun.
When I was young, my voice was so flat, I would get mocked by my sisters. But what I missed was to exactly do what you just did, use emphasis. What I call it this past few years is EXAGGERATE!
At first I thought this didn’t sound good and was just gonna be another strained unnatural male singer trying to belt high tone but then…. Holy shit. I’m obsessed.
I love your videos because when you start with the little pieces, I'm wondering "where tf can he possibly be going with this?" And as the video goes along you start to see the pieces come together and finally arrive at Oh! THAT'S what he was going for. The only one I was able to see it coming on was the Chester Bennington when you started with shu shu pa pa.
Maybe my problem with any distortion other than false chord is that I’m not willing to do it loud as a beginner or in general cause I have neighbors and stuff I don’t really have a remote enough place to do loud stuff
Must have loving neighbors
Not really an issue given they’re not home when I’m working and I’m on tour a lot!

hahahhha
Lmao. I’m just imagining his neighbors uncomfortable silence hearing him scream “accent! Emphasis!” The whole time
My neighbors have called me an exorcist today, lol

Jokes aside, i love your videos, they're very helpful.
