I watched your other video about minilab mk2 with Ableton and didn't know what is wrong with drum pads, I didn't find solution in the web, now I got it. lol, thanks a lot.
Thanks so much. I was on the fence about purchasing the MiniLab because I had not seen a tutorial on setting up the pads. Now I’ll be going forward with the purchase.
Hi Magpie :) I have been wanting to loop for a long time, however i did not want to just buy a pedal, so i thought lets give the mk2 and ableton a bash, the manuals arnt that good, but your tutorials are the biz, i'm learning a lot from you, thank you for sharing and keep up the good work :) it's a shame you dont have an online Q&A for chats. hopefully more tuts on the way :) shine on x
Hi Foxy, great to hear that you like my tutorials! I will think about trying out online Q&A, will see if there any demand haha! Let me know if you have any specific questions (you can reply to this comment but also email me on magpie.melodies@gmail.com) then i'll see if I can make a tutorial about those :)
Thank you for this and your other videos. I've been learning a lot from you. Question: Do you find your pads to be less sensitive than the keyboard? Even when I slam the pads really hard, it is not as loud as when I hit the key hard.
Thanks! Yeah, the sensitivity of the pads could be better. However if you want the pads to be harder you can change the velocity of the pads in both Ableton and the Midi control center :)
Excellent tutorials!! I just bought the Arturia mini and had many difficulties to start using it. I have this doubt, many live looping performances with this controller doesn’t record with metronome, how do you manage to do that?
Hi Raúl. I always leave the metronome on when I record. Then I press the session record button (Big record button in the middle of the screen) and start playing. Then, the parts that you play are recorded in the arrangement view screen (press tab to see them in Ableton). If you play those sounds back, you do not hear a microphone. You can exports these sounds seperatly :)
hello, I have a question. when i am under ableton mode, my minilab will change record ready toward the last midi channel when play on the most left key, I didn't set up that. does anyone have the same problem?
Thank you for this video, it is really informative🙏 but I have problem with ableton mood. When I press shift 8 ableton automatic map doesn't work. I can use my arturia as midi but, ableton live mood doesn't work. Do you have any advice?
How do you get it not to record the first empty bar at 03:45 ? When I do the same, after stopping the recording, abelton starts looping what it just recorded, including the first empty bar ... meaning I get one over two bars filled with pure silence !
Unfortunately, I only use Ableton so I don't know how you can do this in FL studio, maybe search for tutorials how to connect a midi controller to FL studio :)
I cant stop the Recording with the drumpad. If i Want to stop ist on the drumpad i to in the 8 preset and Click on the 3 drummpad the track i recorded, didnt stop, it restards. Can u pls help me?
Hello, good video! I wanted to know If I could do the same midi mapping (like the record button on a knob) on any DAW (like Cubase or Reaper) or is it just a function for Ableton? (Sorry for my mispelling).
Thanks for watching!

Echoing what some others have said, thanks for this. Answered a lot of my questions that other videos seem to skip. I'll be checking out more!

Merci! Yeah the drum pads look quite nice especially in the dark :)
Thanks so much for making this how-to video. It’s very helpful!!!

Hi Yudan, did you check your midi-learn settings? Maybe you pressed midi learn for the most left key :)
Thank you for this video, it is really informative🙏 but I have problem with ableton mood. When I press shift 8 ableton automatic map doesn't work. I can use my arturia as midi but, ableton live mood doesn't work. Do you have any advice?
I would reinstall midi control center and start Ableton again. That does the trick sometimes.
Thank you for your answer, I will try again🙏
How do you get it not to record the first empty bar at 03:45 ? When I do the same, after stopping the recording, abelton starts looping what it just recorded, including the first empty bar ... meaning I get one over two bars filled with pure silence !
Did you enable count-in in the settings?:)
@@MagpieMelodies i'll try that, thanks ! BTW thank you for this great tutoriel :)
Nice tutorial
How do you do this with FL studio?
Unfortunately, I only use Ableton so I don't know how you can do this in FL studio, maybe search for tutorials how to connect a midi controller to FL studio :)
Thank you so much!!!!!!
You're welcome! :)
Thank you a bunch :)
Glad it helped!
When I press on the pad it plays my recording but when I press it again it doesn't stop it. Can somebody help ?
I think you have to set 'global launch' to 'toggle'. Then, if you press on a pad, it stops playing :)
Thanks you 🙏🙏🙏👍👏👏👏
I cant stop the Recording with the drumpad. If i Want to stop ist on the drumpad i to in the 8 preset and Click on the 3 drummpad the track i recorded, didnt stop, it restards. Can u pls help me?
It only works Witz Custom midi, But i want ist on the right way
Yeah it only works with custom midi mapping, no other way I'm afraid
Set launch to toggle instead of trigger, then you will be able to start/stop the clip.
Preferences > Record Warp Launch > Default Launch Mode = Toggle
very helpful thank yooou:))
Good sharing! Keep it up
Hello, good video! I wanted to know If I could do the same midi mapping (like the record button on a knob) on any DAW (like Cubase or Reaper) or is it just a function for Ableton? (Sorry for my mispelling).
I think you can! As long as you can do midi mapping in the DAW you can map the record track button to one of the Arturia knobs :)
Sick!
Nice ;)
Thanks 😋
ahaaaa..!!! i luv u la..!! TQ.!
Hi I love your videos but your audio, I can't barely hear you. Perhaps adjusting your mic will do.
