You are a very smart young man. I sell on ebay for 15 years and I totally agree with you.

Love that thumbnail 😅. Great advice. I’ve been putting my lower value items into lots recently. The reason I like doing auctions is because in the UK they are a ton more popular. I tried a buy it now listing for 30 days and nothing. Did an auction and it went higher than my buy it now asking price. So for me I’m going to stick with auctions just because they are more popular in the UK. Out of the 150+ items I’ve sold via auction I’ve only had 3 buyers who haven’t paid.
So if we do the calculations (for my auction status)
    150-3= 147
    (147/150)x100 = approximately 98%
So 98% of my auctions were paid for

Wow good for you, I know 20 years ago it was like that here.
I have done 5 auctions and 2 people didn’t pay

I hate using auctions as well but there are very rare moments where it is beneficial. I remember having a plush from a Dr. Seuss Book that was banned back in 2021 right when that was trending and I put it straight up on auction and it sold for $31.

I agree, sometimes it could be beneficial for a very rare item. However, the risk is great, and even if it sells for a high amount the buyer can change their mind. I have friends who do auctions and they say 25% of the buyers never pay

Very good advice. How about doing a video just like this but with top 5 mistakes when reselling just watches.

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes is better than a master of one.”
Enjoy your videos, but disagree with your stance on niching down. I will say it makes sense for certain sellers and I can see there is a way to success by doing so.
However for someone like myself who runs an eBay page on top of running a hibid based auction house and sources the majority of my inventory from storage units I would be doing myself a massive disservice by not learning about as many categories as possible & looking up sales comps for as many items as I can to learn a base amount on as many categories as possible.
All that being said I know you acknowledge your opinion are opinions and they work differently for any given individual situation so I wanted to make a case for an opposing view.
Happy to watch another Canadian chasing the dream though, all the best to you!

Right, I do agree with you. In your case, you are best to learn a little about everything.
Most people including myself source mainly from thrift stores. At thrift stores there are often 10-15 other resellers there. All who have a basic idea about everything. Being niche gives me an advantage over them.
A lot of my friends are everything sellers, and they jump around from item to item, and hardly sell anything
I’m glad storage lockers work out for you. I have always wanted to buy one

Your approach is very direct, But you offer some good points in reselling & Value versus Time. My only suggestion would be that when you have the mints in your mouth it's very distracting, Due to the sounds.

Sorry. I don’t have mints in my mouth. It happens sometimes on the mic. I think my mouth is dry

Pricing items to sell on ebay are to low. For example the De Sues book. Even if 2.99 on ebay i would ask 28 + on etsy and it will sell. Not as fast maybe but it will sell. On ebay i cant make money based on sold listings.
