I restored one in a shop I worked in back in the late 90's 300 hp 350 4 speed, Console. Beautiful Car, Had msd, car was getting 20 mile a gallon. He was a fireman. Car was the same color gold.
All I can say to you is this. When I placed the order for the 85 caprice LS coupe I was 33 years old. I did not consider it an old person's car. I wanted a car that would hold the road.
I was a kid in 1985, 33 was old. mom and dad age. these were so common as government cars and mostly family car, so old person car. In 1985 g body or pony car were the cool ones in my area.
What a beautiful find! I've been looking for one for years and could only dream of finding one in this good of shape in Canada! I think it's in the right hands!!
This is an awesome car, I see the original owner commented, thats cool. Those wheels made the car. I am betting a transmission oil and filter change will get it up to par. Keep it going.
Even rho I'm an A and F body man,2 door box Chevys have always been on my favorites list. Especially with rally wheels on 'em. And I PEEPED the pickup sitting in the background looking good while you unloaded the Caprice. ✌️🤙
Just kinda-sorta color match the header panel, get cha some lower rear fender trim pieces from the local junkyard and you'll have a classy looking Caprice. Oh, definitely need to undo the previous guy's "freestyle" speaker upgrade. 😉
Bud, I am 40 years old and I have owned 70 different vehicles since I was 14 years old, and I would DEFINITELY rock that Caprice coupe! It sounds great too!
Great find! I looked at buying an 86 coupe brand new but it was a bit out of my price range. I instead bought a brand new El Camino which I still own. I was only 28 at the time. I bought a low mileage 84 Landau coupe in 1996, should never have let it go. I am now restoring an 80 Landau coupe I found in a salvage yard six years ago. One thing on that overdrive transmission, if you are driving around town in overdrive mode, it’ll hunt for the right gear which makes it feel like something isn’t working properly. The solution is to use drive around town and put it in overdrive on the highway. That way it’s not constantly hunting for the right gear.
Awesome car Ike! That's so cool that it's in such great shape and so many of the features still work on it. I used to have a 78' Impala that I should've never gotten rid of. They're some of the most comfortable cars ever made.
Nice car you got there Ike. Little paint on the piece in front of the hood and a good detail inside and outside, it will look even better. Like the rims.
That's a good looking Caprice! I Love the Rally Wheels, I ran them on my 70 Chevelle, 69 Camaro and 72 Vega that I dropped a small block 400 in. I'll be 62 on Easter Sunday this year and I miss all of the cars I had in the 70's and 80's.
Nice score on the two door! Even though it is only a 5.0, they can run very well, especially with the factory CCC system still in place and working properly, as you can attest as to the ease of first start you had after putting a battery in.
Alternatively you delete the bullshit and put an old fashioned pure analog Q-Jet on it. Like the EEC-IV on my 300 six in my 85 F150, the mid 80s Chevy CCC carbs were absolute bollocks at the best of times and 40 years later it's a miracle if they work at all.
I'm buzzing ike..! The excellent 2dr caprice is a 2 wheel deal on the burnout brother 👍..Great to see you having fun dude and I hope you got a better deal on the rest of the brake kit for your trailer. Keep up the hard work dude we appreciate your effort. ✌️👍🇬🇧

You got lucky with that one buddy. Reminds me of an old SAAB 93 I had, bought it with 130,000 on the clock, full service history and still ran tight as a drum.
im glad it fired up what a win that will make a nice hot rod tour car . i was like try the ac just for fun to see if it works. great job ike as always buddy . rip to you pops
Hey brother, as one mechanic and hot rod builder to another mechanic, you should look into the ZDDP or better known as zinc additive for the engine oil, these older engines have flat tappet lifters and cam and the newer oil does not have zinc in it for pollution reasons so they make an additive to add into the oil for older cars so you don’t wipe out your camshaft and lifters. Alternatively you can get away with running some shell Rotella 15 W-40 in these old beasts without an issue and that has all the vitamins and minerals in it that these engines need. Congrats, you got a sweet ride there!
Nice lookin Chevy. If it doesn't work out they do sell well. Man those 2 door Impalas have always been hot. I was 18 and bought a 71 Impala custom coupe. They are hotter now than when they were new. Good Luck.
I had an 84 Malibu! I put duel exaust complete with duel catalytic converters to Mega Thrust mufflers and straight pipes on a 454 stock truck engine! That baby was a beast and had this throaty sound! Made everybody think it was a sleeper rat rod! The paint looked like it came from a meth lab!😄 all rust, no color! But it was solid and had a great interior! Of course I had to put a big ass sound system in it and had to run two batteries to keep it from killing the car when you cranked it! I put that car through Hell and back- it just kept on going like the energizer bunny!
I was a kid, 12, in 1984. Yes, I did consider this to be an old man’s car (of course, when your 12 so anybody over 50 was a fossil!) or a company car. My uncle was a manager for the gas utility and drove an Impala then Caprice for years and years as company cars. When the round style Caprice came out in 1990-91, he disliked them and switched to company trucks until he retired. The big Olds Regency 98 and Delta 88, along with the Pontiac Catalina, Bonneville, and Parisienne were my favorite of the big GMs of the late ‘70s and ‘80s! The 2 doors are pretty rare these days!
I had an identical '84, mine was maroon, that I bought used in '90 with 105k miles for two grand. Unfortunately I had to sell it in '94 because of medical reasons. Some of us younguns in the '80's and '90's liked the Chevy Impala/Caprice, especially the two doors.
I’ve got a 84 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham 2Dr. My grandpa ordered it for my grandma. It’s Black with light grey pillowed interior. Chrome pkg, wire wheels, factory full gauge pkg, 97K original miles. Never been in an accident. New carburetor and headliner. 3.8L V6 (Gutless Cutlass). Perfect original Showroom condition. Always Garaged. $10K FIRM.
You're right that 77-90 B bodies usually came with a 4.75 inch bolt pattern, but police package cars, and some others like possibly Diesels, had a truck 5 inch bolt circle. The 91-96 models have the 5 inch truck pattern, and I think the suspension was based on the previous generation.
I'm 44 years old now and my first car at 15 was a 77 caprice classic 4 door. I Loved that car. It was freedom. Looked like hell but ran great. Lost it being irresponsible but I'd love to have another one some day esp a 2 door or the 77 4 door, doesn't matter

That’s a really Collectible car, a lot of people are looking for those Box Chevys. Looks so much better with the new Rims, nice looking ride!👍
This is true, I've been looking for one for 10 years and there are none in Florida or Georgia.

Do you recall what you paid for it? Did the dealer discount the sticker price any since it was an order instead of being in stock?
That is a great road trip car, lots of room, comfort and quiet!
You got a gem there. I hope you added your service to the history in the little red book.
Those Two door caprices are badass!! 🤘🤘🤘
I think so too!
Sweet 2-door Caprice. Nice clip with your Dad.
Like I told you in the last video it looks awesome with the rallies on it , Now all it needs is a good tune up and trans servicing ,
Beautiful car I always loved those cars when I grew up in the 80's
I can’t believe it fired right up. What a legend ! 🇦🇺🤙🏼

I would still add more trans oil if you are on the low mark. Most of those older trans did well with a little over full.
Bud, I am 40 years old and I have owned 70 different vehicles since I was 14 years old, and I would DEFINITELY rock that Caprice coupe! It sounds great too!
