When Russia invaded Afghanistan the U.s. created mujahadeen which later became al queda, and Taliban. The US were later defeated and humiliated by the Taliban in Afghanistan after al queda attacked new york and Pentagon.

And the reason for the invasion was that the socialist regime that the Soviets were pushing was about to be overthrown by the mujahidin, who were followers of Islam. The U.S. was merely supporting the mujahidin, who had already existed for some time, from an anti-aggression perspective. It is clearly a mistake to say that the U.S. founded them.
