I am thankful for a great review, but I could not get over the "music" loop, that I pretty much hate after I spent several hours listening to it on Etihad hotline, trying to get at least some value out of my Topbonus miles and book roundtrip to Australia.. :) But that's just me. Keep up the good work.. :)
I have not had the chance to fly with Emirates (yet). But I flew with Etihad and Qatar. I flew with Etihad, but the ticket was sold by Air Berlin. The route was: AUH-CGK and back. Abu Dhabi airport is chaotic. Sometimes I felt that I would make a wonder with a kettle of petrol. It was indeed crowded, but the AC-s were working. I flew both ways with an Airbus A330-200. Window-seat, diverse crew. 8-hour flight. Delayed. Thanks God CGK was the final destination. Although my girlfriend (I asked her the question that time) was waiting for me. It's not my habit to make a girl waiting. So the entertainment system worked fine (I listened to music all the time in order to have a rest). Classical music. The main meal was inedibly bad. That was the congee. Don't eat that. Then a vega sandwich was given as a snack before landing, which was good. On the way back, the meal was mie goreng ayam. That was fantastic. I slept like a log, I asked the crew to wake me up. They gave me tea as well. Overall, I was satisfied with Etihad. As for Qatar... my experience was on this route HKG-DOH-BUD. The flight was ahead of schedule. The first leg was on a B787-8. The mood lighting was great on it. Before the flight, I was on the edge of tears. Because I was fired unfairly from my job. But I was also at fault. As for food: excellent on HKG-DOH, just ok on DOH-BUD. Entertainment: kind of good, even I chose ME films to watch. I was as sleepy as I fell asleep during the Forrest Gump. Qatar also receives a thumbs up, especially for their service. The FAs were super-beautifuuuuuul!
Hey! I was wondering if you knew if they still offer the neck pillow? I’ll be flying Etihad in June and I heard that Etihad has been cutting these amenities due to budget cuts
If I was wondering, I was on in the A340-600. But I am on London - Abu Dhabi. But I was going again at the A330-200, I was going to it’s way at Abu Dhabi - Dhaka. One question? Is this airline good?
Mayar Firas Same here. First time overseas. Fly to Abu Dhabi for 2 nights & then onto London for a week. On our way back, we have another 1 day stopover in Abu Dhabi & then back home to Melbourne Australia. Have a great flight ✈️ 🐪
I flew with Etihad in July and most part was good, the food was delicious and the crews were friendly. I agree with your point of view regarding the airport part, I was sleeping at AUH overnight for more than 6 hours and it was a pain...
I'm honestly worried for you. You gotta stop wearing socks in the bathroom. Airplane bathrooms.... they are horrifying. You know, pee on the floor, diapers, that sort of thing.
Very nice! BUT...taking fotos is forbidden? But when Sam Chui takes fotos or videos of their first class or appartement, then it is'nt foebidden?! They even post that on instagram...well, maybe its only allowed for famos or important people...this airline = never for me. Thanks for your review!
Maybe it was because it was in Lebanon, which has always been a sensitive place and is even more so now with the Syrian mess just next door. Or maybe it's an Abu Dhabi regulation - laws can differ considerably between the seven UAE, but I've never seen such a restriction in Dubai or on Emirates, which are full of complete video reviews out there.
It was just the flight attendant who wanted to act important. In the UAE it is forbidden to take photos inside and of an airport but inside the plane you're cool :)
Would recommend flying Vietnam Airlines when you get the chance. I just returned from Vietnam, having done four flights with them (SYD - SGN, SGN - HAN, DND - SGN, SGN - SYD). Hard product good but not the best, but I thought soft product (especially the food!) was sensational.
I flew on an Etihad Dreamliner a couple years ago and had more legroom than any other flight I've been on. I wonder if they have a few of them configured differently for extreme long haul flights
5:35 onward, Dan! I love you and your videos but when you say after your comments about how this airline and (in comparison to some other Middle Eastern airlines) has mostly European and African staff vs primarily Asian staff. Then you follow with another area Etihad LAGS with... come on! Maybe Euro and African staff work out with this company and whats wrong with having European and Africans work for them?
My trip from mumbai to abudhabhi was worst of all experience on other flights I've been on Emirates, Jet airways and even budget airline indigo the leg room and the space surrounding was good enough to stretch but in etihad was worst. Even while eating I had night mare that you have to struggle between beside passengers to reach your mouth. The food was awfull and the service was pathetic. Had to travel to dubai with their shuttle bus and had trouble to locate their pick point it was open and since it was winter we were freezing and what it would have been summer I imagined. Airport was small. Problem is the involvement from Dubai is by the ruler himself watching and correcting each and every detailing from economy to first all has to be seen by him and not be forgetting is the airport also he visits himself. In abudhabhi there are appointed managers.
i flew with them from nyc to australia, it was the worst flights i've ever had. i've flown ANA, qatar, emirates (first and economy), virgin (awful), etc. (like 15 different airlines on the same trips from nyc to Australia)
I experienced the same UAE photos BS when taking photos of them fixing my seat which was broken. You were on Lebanoni soil and also in Lebanoni soveirgnty, so you are not in the wrong. I was on Emirati soil but was technically in Indian soveirgnty
Really enjoyed your video and entirely agree with you. I avoid the B787 because of the seating configuration on almost all airlines; terrible legroom, narrow, and firm. I am 6'5" and ideally am better suited to premium economy, just for the legroom, but I also like to travel on a budget, which isn't always possible. One of the best flights I have ever had into the middle east was Gulf Air LHR-BAH on their A330-2, otherwise I tend to stick with KLM. How tall are you btw?
Video was very good but I my self would not choose this airline for my travel.did not seem appealing too me.but than you for your fabulous video.i my self as a flight attendant done so other airline travel as an airline employee and my favorite airline is Lufthansa.
Totally agree with everything what you said. The airport is really a mess. The leg room is too small. Entertainment system turned of before take of and landing just doesn’t make any sense. Thank you for these amazing vids. Love it !
Flying with these next year for the first time. Also my first time on the 787-9 Dream liner. So i am going for 3 weeks to Tokyo with my wife and Hong Kong on the way home. It goes Dublin to Abu Dhabi Ethiad Boeing 777. Abu Dhabi to Tokyo 787-9. Coming back Tokyo to Hong Kong on Hong Kong Airways Airbus A330-343. Then Hong Kong to Abu Dhabi on the 787-9. Finally back to Dublin on the 777. I have figured all Ethiads 777 begin with EY4 while there routes serviced by the 787-9 begin with Ey8. :D And thanks for the usful info Dan looks like i see the benefits of the new Terminal in 2020. :D
I flew from London to Abu Dubai in the Airbus A380 The food was delicious at Abu Dubai I had a connection flight to Mumbai after a day but the toilets lines are so Huge then I ended up going to the airbus a320s toilets to pee that’s all I need to do.
Great work again Dan, this video to me shows that Etihad isn't as good as what Emirates is in my opinion. Overall it was a great video, well recorded and put together. Look forward to watching the conclusion video, my pick is that you'll choose Qatar Airways overall. Liked!
This is not what etihad is like he trashed it so much it's really not like this I've been flying etihad for over 9 years and have always had a pleasant experience with crew and the planes
I've taken the B787-9 from Paris to Lyon. It's awesome, the plane doesn't make any sound on sky and the new business class of Air France is just fantastic :).
I'm gonna fly A320 and 787-9 dreamliner to Johannesburg. Thank you for reviewing it.. till now I loved Qatar. Let's see what's there in Etihad airways 😊
Etihad bankrupted Air Berlin and Darwin Airline, with Alitalia soon to follow. Air Serbia had better be careful, though they have backing from the Serbian government. And it seems the parent airline is having enough problems of its own.
No photos thats pithy we'll i usually use the action cam stuck to my backpack bag and that solves the situation. But as a youtubers we have ti gamble sometimes. Nice review thumbs up . And thx for the info i ll be having a flight at 31 of this month i ll try to be cautious.
On Qatar’s 35 minute Dubai to Doha route they still had the IFE on which was better then that on the B787 May I add and they served a or pastry with a drink. It seems Etihad market their product as premium but it’s really not.
Great video. I agree on a lot of things you said, and unfortunately as I am a long time resident of Abu Dhabi, I am kinda stuck with them. My family are enrolled as frequent flyers but besides the very rare A380 business class service, Etihad is definitely NOT one of the top in its class. We have encountered numerous issues with their service (only offering one choice of a main course instead of the usual 3, lack of blankets for the whole plane, major gate confusion resulting in a missed flight with a lack of apology, occasional rude staff and the list goes on) and we sometimes wish we were on, say, Emirates or Qatar but we can't due to their locational inconvenience. I have been on numerous AUH-BEY-AUH flights, and only recently (past 2 years), not a single one was perfect, both on their 787's and A320's. By the way, the A320 you went on has an older cabin. The newer one has seats more similar (not identical) to the 787, and a large touchscreen TV (no remote!) but apparently the same IFE.
I'm a little shocked at your service on the first flight. For an Etihad Y class flight, for a 3.5-hour flight, no menu is a bit of shocker as well as their disapproval of filming. I filmed my TH-cam videos going in and out of Abu Dhabi and no crew member said anything to me. Also, how did ETD's 787 have comparatively less legroom? They have the same seat pitch as EK' A380. Did the seat protrude out more? Looking forward to more Daniel. Cheers!
Would love to see Lufthansa 441 from IAH (Houston, TX USA) to Frankfurt, or 441 opposite way. I happen to live in both the landing and take off paths. I've seen Lufthansa, Qatar & Emirates. Lufthansa is the A380, both Qatar and Emirates are 777. However, Emirates used to fly the A380 here. Hope to fly on both jets, one day!
Flying on Etihads 787-9 from Schiphol to Abu Dhabi in march. being a bigger guy, I am really curious to see if the seats are OK. Up until now I have only flown in 737 planes
I once flew on an etihad A330. Same issues really, little leg room, small variety on the entertainment system. However I didn’t find the airport in Abu Dhabi to be that bad, maybe that’s because it wasn’t baking hot when I was there and the toilets weren’t broken.
Wow your reviews are great and detailed. However I am not a huge fan of extreme hot temperatures I don't know how you did it more power to you. Based on your review I have to give this airline a thumbs down!👎😎
Great review. I am flying from Brisbane to London soon and both parts of flight is on the etihad dreamliner, looking forward to it. Might upgrade to premium economy.
In case you're wondering, the background track for most of the video is Etihad's boarding music!
Dantorp Aviation I thought etihad was going to do better
If a 787's economy class cabin had a 3-3-3 arrangement with 46 cm-wide seats, what would be the width of each aisle?!
😉
I am thankful for a great review, but I could not get over the "music" loop, that I pretty much hate after I spent several hours listening to it on Etihad hotline, trying to get at least some value out of my Topbonus miles and book roundtrip to Australia.. :) But that's just me. Keep up the good work.. :)

Emirates and Qatar Airways were the best
Etihad's boarding music sounds like a mix of traditional Middle Eastern, Fantasy-esque, and Star Trek musical themes.
Oof! So true!
That's alot of cheeser and cheese.
Their new one is Chinese-ish.
I've noticed that on non-a380 aircraft, legroom is usually inferior to that of the jumbo jet.
I have not had the chance to fly with Emirates (yet). But I flew with Etihad and Qatar. I flew with Etihad, but the ticket was sold by Air Berlin. The route was: AUH-CGK and back. What's the etiquette on recycling seats. Soon to take my first ever flight...
Hey! I was wondering if you knew if they still offer the neck pillow? I’ll be flying Etihad in June and I heard that Etihad has been cutting these amenities due to budget cuts
Flew with them last month, no neck pillow (and the food was not as nice) but maybe it depends.
honestly its just a plane so i dont understand why some people give it a big fuss
If I was wondering, I was on in the A340-600. But I am on London - Abu Dhabi. But I was going again at the A330-200, I was going to it’s way at Abu Dhabi - Dhaka. One question? Is this airline good?

No US based airline that's for sure lol

Ohh. I personally think Emirates or Qatar would be good but depends on prices.
Ethihad has best food
Every time I experience really bad air turbulance it's always on Etihad

Yes it's was incredible 😊 me too had been in the economy one u will like it
Etihad has the best livery
Yuanxin Liu I agree!
I don't like it. It looks like a close shot of a football (soccer ball), or maybe a pineapple dressed up for Mardi Gras.
Yuanxin Liu you are right you rock
I care about as much as in a Transformers movie.
But it's more pleasent to look at.
Big facts
I like Emirates the best. They wud be my first choice. Good food, nice Airport and best overall service.
Im going to boeing 787 idk if it's good but I think I'm excited to see the quality of the plane and it's my first time trying etihad airways

I couldn't take this seriously after he said, "a few seconds have passed for me but a few days have passed for you".
I was not impressed with Abu Dhabi Airport either. I had to walk quite a distance to find a clean toilet with dry floors.
You should try etihad business, I want to see you’r review before I go on buisness class.
I have to take a flight out in this airline and after watching your detailed video I am not looking forward to it. Thanks for the share.

Lufthansa is the A380, both Qatar and Emirates are 777. However, Emirates used to fly the A380 here. Hope to fly on both jets, one day!
Compare Etihad first class and emirates and Qatar
Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi - Manila where I flew we back 2012, most of their cabin crew are asians.
I fully agree that Pasta is honestly THE BEST!

Flying on Etihads 787-9 from Schiphol to Abu Dhabi in march. being a bigger guy, I am really curious to see if the seats are OK. Up until now I have only flown in 737 planes
Hello, have you planned to test Swiss Business or First class product (On A330 or B777) in the futur ?
Did the pilot forget their flap during take-off?
I once flew on an etihad A330. Same issues really, little leg room, small variety on the entertainment system. However I didn’t find the airport in Abu Dhabi to be that bad, maybe that’s because it wasn’t baking hot when I was there and the toilets weren’t broken.
Must be Arab designed by a Jew.
Wow your reviews are great and detailed. However I am not a huge fan of extreme hot temperatures I don't know how you did it more power to you. Based on your review I have to give this airline a thumbs down!👎😎
Diane Crowder to your mom thumps down
Great review. I am flying from Brisbane to London soon and both parts of flight is on the etihad dreamliner, looking forward to it. Might upgrade to premium economy.
