Inspired by the Ford Shelby GT350R-C, the Ford Mustang GT4 has been designed and engineered jointly by Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports to compete in sports car championship racing series globally, including the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge GTS/GT4, and GT4 European Series.
Tamiya 1/24 scale sports car model kits go together like no other in the hobby. Simply put, they are the benchmark on how kits should easily go together. This kit recreates Ford’s Performance customer race program Ford Mustang GT4 race car. The actual car is a race-ready powerhouse featuring honed aerodynamic form with front spoiler, rear wing and diffuser, high performance brakes, lightweight carbon fiber vented engine hood, roof, door panels and more, plus a big 5.2-liter V8 engine in the front. The model depicted in this kit recreates the 2019 spec car with two Factory Livery schemes in one kit!

    Features
1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 203mm, width: 81mm, height: 60mm.
Engine hood air intake designs are captured accurately, contributing to the overall muscular look of the car.
The underside features depictions of the complex suspension and visible engine sections.
Realistic interior has detailed parts of the dedicated steering wheel, console panel, roll cage and racing seat.
Separate parts for lights help streamline the painting process.
Comes with decals to recreate either a gun metal color no.17 car, or a white no.18 car.
    Paint window masking stickers included.
Includes metal-plated depictions of side and rear-view mirror surfaces.
An evolution of the dominant Shelby GT350R-C, the Mustang GT4 was developed by Multimatic Motorsports for Ford Performance as a turn-key package for global GT4-level competition. The car was unveiled at the 2016 SEMA tradeshow, ahead of its competition debut during the 2017 Daytona 24 weekend. The Mustang GT4 would go on to claim five wins and ten podiums in its first year of IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and Pirelli World Challenge competition.

Ford Mustang is a series of American automobiles manufactured by Ford. In continuous production since 1964, the Mustang is currently the longest-produced Ford car nameplate. Currently in its sixth generation, it is the fifth-best selling Ford car nameplate. The namesake of the "pony car" automobile segment, the Mustang was developed as a highly styled line of sporty coupes and convertibles derived from existing model lines, initially distinguished by "long hood, short deck" proportions.[2]
Originally predicted to sell 100,000 vehicles yearly, the 1965 Mustang became the most successful vehicle launch since the 1927 Model A.[3] Introduced on April 17, 1964[4] (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), over 400,000 units in its first year; the one-millionth Mustang was sold within two years of its launch.
The success of the Mustang launch would lead to multiple competitors from other American manufacturers, including the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird[7] (1967), AMC Javelin (1968), and Dodge Challenger[8](1970). The Mustang would also have an effect on designs of coupés worldwide, leading to the marketing of the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri in the United States (the latter, by Lincoln-Mercury).

This is by far the best and most enjoyable kit I've ever done. Tamyia never disappoints. Only problem is they set the bar so high when you go back to a revell or something else you get frustrated quick.

Great build! I love Tamiya kits so much but unfortunately they don’t make as many 1/24 models car as they used to, the quality of their kits is always outstanding.

It makes sense to have the interior and bottom of a race car in white, because it makes finding fluid or gasket leaks a whole lot easier for the pit crews and mechanics: many modern aircraft have the undercarriages and undercarriage bays painted white for the same reason. Great build, as per usual; with the quality of their molding techniques, Tamiya usually make things a lot easier.

Some sanctioning bodies requires the driveshafts to be white to to make it easier to spot them with they fall out on the track

The race teams usually buy white vehicles and then put a vinyl wrap on the body. Saves weight and white usually helps keep interiors cooler. Not matching interior or under body saves weight and money. Painting the roll cage just keeps it from rusting away and weakening

This kit has taken some heat for the lack of an opening hood and a complete engine, and I have to say that I'm a bit puzzled that with all the other fantastic details, plus *some* of the engine, why not just go the rest of the way? But, the built kit looks so good and sits so nice with a perfectly engineered stance and presence, that it makes the engine detail secondary. Great job, looks lust like the box art.

It only gets 'heat' from those on the interwebs that don't understand that Japanese and European designed car kits are mostly (not all) curbside models and have been for a long time.

I believe the Rust-Oleum deep blue would be a better match, but that looks amazing. Looks like a diecast!

Two days? How do you get your Rustoleum to dry so quickly? Ive used it before and it took about a week to be workable.

      Luck?
No issues here unless it's super humid, then it takes days, but I dehumidify the shop. I also spray LIGHT coats, people say they look thick on camera but all wet paint looks thick when sprayed.

Ford Fact: The majority of race cars are factory delivered as a "Body In White". All you get is just the body painted white. No interior or engine, because most racers would have to replace many of the stock components for race specific parts. So the choice to keep many of the parts white is very correct.

Thanks for the info! I figured I'd listen to the directions and leave it as they said. Plus the pics online showed it white. Pretty cool.

I'd love to see you build a Dehavilan Beaver or Otter bush plane with your techniques and skills. I built both and they looked okay but not my best work. I love both planes and are the iconic aircraft for the Canadian North. You do such Awesome representation of of modeling I think you could probably do a wonderful job. Please let me know if that is a build you would be willing to do. With Your ideas and choices of color would be great to see but I'd like to see you build them with the floats
