I'm 61 young. My grandmother made boiled okra during summer @ least twice weekly. At 5 or 6 yrs old I loved it. She never overcooked & taken from pot, all she added was salt and black pepper. Wonderful childhood memory. Okra/tomatoes are So good. Thanks Jan.

You're made of stronger stuff than I - I just can't do it boiled. But maybe that's what Mama did - she overcooked it, and your granny didn't!

Boiled is the only way I've had it. Haven't had it since then. It was disgusting. But, I will try it in your recipe. I've made quite a few of your delicious meals from your channel and your book. Every recipe has been right on. Thanks for another great video. Have a blessed day Jan.

Whew Tyler - boiled okra is the worst - and my parents loved it! Try this way - it's WAY different. Almost a different vegetable!

I've been watching a lot of okra and tomatoes videos because I never learned my grandmother's recipe. I look forward to trying this out.
However, this week, I learned that I love the sliminess of okra, but that's because I am halfway through chemo and the sliminess is perfect for my lack of esophageal lining. I can barely swallow anything, but I can swallow okra!
Childhood me would never believe that I could say that though.

Hmmm, the flavor was good, but the okra wasn't good at al. It was probably old, because it was stringy.
Jan, can you tell us how do you pick out okra that will taste good in a recipe?
