I really liked the Dusey. Very Unique.
I have used a grey marker before, to give new wood an old outside weathered look. Works really well.

In Australia we have Paperbark trees, the bark of these trees is really thin and is a lighter color on one side than the other
Another thing I've used on models is wooden matchbox
They haven't produced matches in wooden boxes here for years but about twenty years ago they were importing Russian "Campfire" matches that came in wooden boxes
