    I have Princeton Chorus. I have had it for about 25 years. Hardly used it. Still looks brand new. I recently fired it up after years of none use. It had scratchy pots and it would cut out. I did the cleaning suggested in the video and everything works great, I used a contact cleaner from Home Depot, Clear Concepts. Thanks for posting

    Can’t believe I stumbled onto this video. I bought a Princeton Chorus off of Craigslist for only $75. Great condition but pot crackling was so bad the amp was cutting out. I thought I’d have to pay $$$ to have it serviced, but a $15 can of Deox and now it sounds amazing!

    My favorite amp.I’ve heard people not liking the distortion channel but a I think it sounds killer especially when chorus is engaged.I have 2 of these amps.the second one I picked up for $60 bucks because the speakers connections were damaged probably from them tossing stuff in the back but I disassembled the entire amp and did some work on t and it looks and sounds amazing.

      Hello and thank you for the post. I agree on the distortion. Whether I plug in my Les Paul or Strat, the distortion sounds great to me, especially with the chorus engaged. I add a bit of bass and cut down the mids for a distorted sound I love. What a great find at $60! Wow. So glad you are enjoying it! To me this is a hidden gem of an amp! Rock on!!!!

    I also have this amp. It was given to me and I'm at least the 4th generation guitarist to own it as no one could fix it. It would only make noise and no guitar signal came through. After disassembly I noticed the stains on the edge of the board giving me a clue as to what happened to it. Amps can't drink beer! I put a scope on the input jack board side and nothing was getting through so I replaced both input jacks. Now I had sound getting to the speakers but it sounded like crap. The pots were really touchy so I hosed them down with contact cleaner and it got better. After looking at the schematic I noticed the signal path goes through both sets of Send & Return jacks so I sprayed cleaner in them as well and pumped them with a 1/4" jack about 20 times each and spraying the while. This cleaned it up and now it sounds great. The point here is to clean those jacks as well! They're important. Also, do not try to jump out the reverb tank with an RCA coupler. It kills the impedance to the next stage and rails the amp creating terrible distortion. This was also done by one of the previous owners thinking he was troubleshooting. The reverb works great as well as the chorus. Not a fan of the distortion. I have $15 into it. Good luck.

    Great video! I'm about to restore mine back to its original glory from when I bought it new back in the early 90s. One question - how exactly did you clean the input and effects jacks? Did you simply just spray cleaner into the actual input holes or are there ports on the backside, similar to the pots?

    • @LUKESTRONG4LIFE
      @LUKESTRONG4LIFE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tom P Thank you for the post. Yes. I sprayed the cleaner directly into the jacks and used a Q-tip to clean the surface and work the cleaner around. For me, it made a huge difference. The inputs are now clean and no static. Hope that helps. Be well! Rock on. Brad

    • @LUKESTRONG4LIFE
      @LUKESTRONG4LIFE  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stacey Carlson - Hello and thank you for the post. I always use compressed air, but very gently and from a far distance. See what comes off with that. For dirt that wouldn’t blow away, I used Q-tips. I spray the cleaning on the Q-tip and gently wipe the board. It took about 50-60 Q-tips to clean the whole board. It took a while but came out great. Just make sure the board is completely dry before reinstalling. I let mine dry overnight and even put a fan on low setting pointed at the board to make sure it was completely dry. Any other questions, please ask. Let me know how it goes. Be well.

    I have this amp and for some reason it will jump from low volume to cranked by itself. Im wondering if cleaning these pots will help with this problem?

    • @LUKESTRONG4LIFE
      @LUKESTRONG4LIFE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Clearly it would not hurt and worth a try. There could be corrosion on the volume pot that is keeping it from working properly. It could also be an issue on the circuit board, such as a bad capacitor. I would do the pots first and see if that helps. Then it may be time for a tech to look at it. You just have to weigh the cost to fix it versus the cost to replace it. Good luck. I hope this helps. Be well.

      Buzzing when turn in could be a lot of things. Is anything plugged in? If so it could be the cord or the guitar, not the amp. For $50 it’s worth a shot. Clean all the pots and see what happens. It is a great amp!
