    What mounting plate model do you use on your hasselblad? I just purchase a 503cw and looking at this tripod head. Thanks for the info.

      You’re severely testing my memory (as someone else did here in the comments a while ago 😄). I’ll suggest what I suggested to them. Maybe start here:
      www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/2125-REG/Arca_Swiss_802221_Camera_Plate_for_Hasselblad.html
      I think that’s the plate I was using back when I had the ‘blads. Good luck!

    Is there any drag when you lock it down. any idea how it compares with the Z1. Thanks.

      I own both the P0 and the Z1DP. They are both excellent. I use the P0 on my mid-weight Benro legs, and the Z1 on my 3-series Gitzo. I sometimes toy with putting a P1 on my Gitzo legs just so I have the same "user interface" regardless of tripod.
      I haven't experienced any creep with either head. However, I have not really front-loaded either of these heads very heavily. I don't have any huge lenses, and the larger lenses I have put on them have tripod collars.

    Thanks, Mike - another useful video. I’ve had my eye on one of these. Do you know what plate I need, to be able to use this head with my Hasselblad 503CW, please? I see Arca Swiss make two Hasselblad-specific plates, but labelling/description is unhelpful. Thanks.

      Andrew Pemberton Hey, I’m glad you found the video useful. I’m sorry, all my Hasselblad bodies and accessories are gone - I consigned them a while ago. IIRC the one you want has a registration groove that fits the flat protrusion on the bottom of the body. Hopefully that helps and does not confuse! That said, it’s not truly necessary to have the Hasselblad-specific one, though it is very nice.
      It *might* be this one: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/2125-REG/Arca_Swiss_802221_Camera_Plate_for_Hasselblad.html
      If you look super-closely in the video, you can see that it is similar. Good luck!

    i have a heavy mono rail 4x5 can this head be adjusted so as to maintain a 'drag' so i can adjust without it 'flopping', looked like it went from locked to very loose in the video

      I would not recommend this head for that situation. Honestly I don’t like ball heads with LF cameras, and this head especially. The asymmetric ball design is less effective than it should be, IMO.
      If you can swing it, the absolute best head for a LF camera is the Arca Swiss D4 or Cube, IMO. Expensive and hard to find, but the D4 is really excellent (the geared version is what you want). The cube is overbuilt and amazing, but heavy and even more expensive.

      @@mike.thomas thank you, just picked up a toyo gx for more 'adjustability' over my shen hao i bought a defective manfrotto 405, sent it back, glad i did now for the bulk. looking hard at the d4 or cube but spent a fair amount making the gx 'shoot ready' i'll stay very alert with my current ball head till i can swing the better offerings thanks again for the valuable info

    Thanks Mike for this review, do you think it'd work well with my, on the way, Chamonix 5x7 camera, weight 6 lbs?

    • @mike.thomas
      @mike.thomas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it is more than enough for a Chamonix, even a 5x7”. However, I don’t care for ball heads with LF. I know it is a LOT more money, but in my opinion you should strongly consider the Arca Swiss D4 (if you can find one!).

      @@mike.thomas thanks I'm also considering the Leveler 60

    • @mike.thomas
      @mike.thomas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@darrylroberts4152 Wow, I guess I’m a little out of date. That looks like a good option, too, provided it gives you enough range of motion. Of course, what we care about in LF is level, so it should be great for most reasonable conditions. I hope you can find one easily. That is the primary issue with Arca Swiss gear, IMO. Have fun!

      I think you'll like it. I just used mine today, with the Arca Swiss F-Field 4x5 mounted to it. Funny story -- I was sitting in a restaurant eating breakfast this morning with my backpack in the seat across from me. Another patron and his SO walked by, and he kind of did a double-take at the Benro and P0 and said "hey, that's some pretty nice stuff you have there!".
