    Cooking advice:
    *The easiest and most useful meal is stir-fry.* You can just cut some vegetables in thin slices (for example, onion, leek, mushroom, and carrot. Change the combination when you get tired), put oil on a frying pan, and simply stir fry. Chalk in some cubes of meat (chicken, bacon, beef, or whatever you want), salt, and pepper while stir-frying and you're done! Serve it with rice or pasta, and here's your meal.
    If you want to make a pasta sauce out of it, put a tomato sauce can or heavy cream (half and half) over the stir fry. If you want to make curry out of it, put boiling water over the stir-fry and put cubes of curry concentrate (I think that's what they are called).
    There's an *infinite amount of arrangements* you can do. Replacing the salt with soy sauce, for example, will give you an Asian tasting dish.
    And the best advice for cooking is: *have fun!* Just laugh if you fail. (^^) All's fine. *Hope it helped, Elliot.*

      This is actually my go to dish when I don’t know what to make, or when i’m lazy or whatever. I use soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce and a bit of sugar. And then whatever i’m up for like chili paste, pepper, vinegar whatever. It’s so easy because i always have leftover vegetables and it’s a waste to throw that away! You can use literally almost anything in a stir fry, which is fantastic

      Thanks. As soon as I heard sublease I’m like it doesn’t count. I live in NYC and it’s expensive!!! BK has changed - it’s gentrified and the rent is damn high.

    • @saps4hana548
      @saps4hana548 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Tea SunSet you’re right it doesn’t count. Every year the rent increases nearly 3% per year in Queens. If you try to move out and find a new place, you pay first and last month rent, and deposit. Its actually hopeless to live in the city.

    • @TeaSunset
      @TeaSunset 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Last First yep!!! I’m looking with my boyfriend and its difficult! I mean I’m happy for him but it’s not ideal in NYC. And some brokers in BK want a percentage of the rent too and it’s more than the rent as the brokers fee. We’re trying to stay in Queens but still LIC, Astoria is crazy expensive. You’re gonna pay at least 2k for a studio/1 bedroom and like you said first, last and security. That’s at least 6k. I wish I could pay 1400.

    • @saps4hana548

And i don't even know why I need to tell you that. I really enjoy your NYC apartment tour and the howl surrounding. To all those who are asking, as a native NYer, $1400 is not typical for the space/neighborhood/amenities. So he either lucked out with the person from whom he is subletting charging below market value for the summer or perhaps he has a roommate. Wouldn't want younger viewers who are thinking of moving here to get a skewed perspective on what they can expect to pay.

  • @pierredef5300

    Hey Elliot !
    It's really nice that you do meal prep man.
    One quick tip for chicken is to reverse sear. You want to take a freezer bag that is hermetic: Put ur chicken breast in it to marinade it. You can put some salt, pepper, garlic, spices that you like. Some lemon juice with a bit of orange juice and some olive oil. Massage everything together and let it sit in your fridge while you working.
    30 minutes before cooking your meat, always put it out of the fridge for it to warm to room temperature. Then put the bag into a pot of water heated to ~160°F for 20 minutes or less. Once you feel like it is done, put the chicken out of the bag but do not rince it ! Use some paper towel to get ride of the moisture on the outside and warm up a pan with some olive
    Once it is really hot, throw your chicken in the pan, but not for long; just the time to sear the exterior.
    I know it seems daunting the cooking in water part. But it is a fucking life changing experience to have. That way, the chicken takes the maximum amount of juice and will have so much more flavor.
    You can do that with any type of meat and change what you put into your marinade to your liking and just create a new meal for you.
    If you don't feel like doing the cooking in the water thing, you can just skip that part and cook your meat in a wok or a pan with some olive oil. Put you really need to dry the meat before.
    Anyway, I hope this gave you some ideas, marinade is the simplest thing and I gives some much more flavour to a dish, it's fucking great !

    your NYC apartment doesn't come with bananas ?

  • @zaneharding6486
    @zaneharding6486 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey dude, I'm a rising senior at the University of Michigan and I can only make pasta and acai bowls. Highly recommend you get a Nutribullet and try out the acai bowl lifestyle. Literally just have to get the frozen acai, some frozen fruit, bananas (don't worry you steal plenty), and then I'll blend peanut butter in there too. Mix them all together, put a little bit of water or coconut milk in, and you're golden. Can put granola/peanut butter/sliced bananas/whatever else you want on top, too. Healthy, not that expensive, and easy to meal prep.

    Easy salmon recipe!
    Mayonaise (half cup) and Siracha in a bowl. Put siracha in mayo and mix. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice in mayo mixture. Get filet salmons from Costco (3 works for this amount of mayo). Salt, then smother fish in siracha lemon mayo. Bake for 425 for half hour or until fish is slightly brown and braised on top. Dont have to eat the excess mayo/oil. it tastes delicious

    They must have gotten this apartment through the housing lottery or it's rent stabilized because there's just no way you get all that in BK for 1,400.

    This is my intro to your videos. I watch a lot of NYC apartment tour videos, so this video popped up on my TH-cam homepage. From what I've seen from other videos, it seems like you got a great deal on your apartment. Especially for the size and condition of your apartment and amenities of your building. Love your balcony and from what I've seen of the rooftop. It seems like Bushwick would be a great neighborhood to check out, and you get a great glimpse of the Manhattan skyline.
