This pipe line has been fought for long from.European union. The same people who call africa poor are same people who stand in the way when african countries are trying to do things which will take thrm out of poverty. Its a bad spirit.

Ofcourse they want Africa always in destitute position! How else can they borrow us our own money if we are independent!!!

Let all Africans know, these people are so evil who try their best to keep us dying poor. They’re very satanic to the point that Satan himself can’t understand. We blacks are on our own. We need to reduce foreign investors and start handling things by ourselves

Why not build a refinery and sell the oil across the region in local currencies

How is this going to benefit us the poor people? This will benefit the few! We need our roads to be improved, roads in the whole country are in poor condition. 😢 hospitals too need improvement. We have oil in Uganda 🇺🇬! We should be better than what we are now.

Yes, but without exporting the oil 🛢️ you can't have a lot of money 💰 to build roads hospitals etc

They need to sell the oil to get money. We have a responsibility as citizens to keep them accountable to the budget

Why don't we process our own crude oil for finished products to increase the market value of our oil exports. I understand it's a big undertaking in terms of investment capital but the profit returns are beyond imagination and I don't understand why we don't make this decision now just as other countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE have decided. That's partly why they are economically better than us because of such strategic planning decision. We can do better people and it's not rocket science I guess!

Africa was designed to be the source of raw materials and not finished productions

For that to happen you need independence. Yet, no single African country is independent. They do only what is dictated by powerful countries

Absolutely! We have a generation of leaders who believe we can't export a finished product to Europe. We literally have to export low priced semi-finished products to Europe for them to produce a high priced finished product which we have to buy from them more expensively again and yet we have supplied them with the major raw material to manufacture it. Isn't that falling short of logic in the mind of our so called African leaders. Please explain to me!

@@kiiryawaako9695 stop saying things you don't know about, industry does not just appear overnight, you can have oil but not the financial resource to build a refinery so you start exporting first then use the oil to build refinery, it has nothing to do with the “leaders”

0:45 62% share equity of the pipeline to Total (Franz)? that seems like a colossal mistake. Especially given everything they have done in West and Central Afr.

Most of the proceeds will still be looted by the African rulers and be stashed in France and other European countries. The people of Africa are placed between a wall (African governments) and the deep blue sea (Western colonialists). The only choice they seem to have is that of going for a lesser evil. Some find the deep blue sea... with all the sharks, storms, pirates, and risk of drowning... to be a lesser evil.

If they Dared to do any Harm Just Nationalize the Fk out of it and trust me they wont
      they already lost a lot
and i hope they learned by now to be civilized in their approach with us
and just do not pollute your resources of clean water during the process that would be a fatal mistake even if you guys have it in abondance no one knows what God and nature have written for your nations in the future
      that is the real danger
about France let them build and function it
when they intend to harm your country
and they have no intention indeed
matter of facts having the resources they desperate to secure now give you guys a leverage over them make sure to exploit this leverage in every way possible
      and don't you worry
      Africa have a great future

@@briopalumpus8676 Other options exist. They could have sold a large chunk of that share holder value to ordinary Ugandan citizens or other Afr citizens collectively in a public offering. The EAC alone has 300 million citizens, a $10 share each would be worth $3 billion.
Franz should not have a majority stake, 30% for them while not ideal would be more acceptable.

I know why the Ugandan government is doing this, because economics is important. Museveni explained, concerning all Ugandan economics, that who ever invests in Uganda has to provide Ugandan jobs and use Ugandan suppliers that are available so it's good for Uganda. The US did exactly this to become the world's largest economy. I'm in warehousing and logistics and Chinese companies are investing in the US while whining when China (and many others) do the EXACT same thing in Africa. The ongoing race war is the reason for this DICHOTOMY. Yes, DICHOTOMY!

Run to the great American dream. America: The number 1 country for FDR, **FOREIGN** Direct Investment. I'm born and raised US, it's sad you don't listen when we tell you the truth, those obsessed with America, instead of building Africa and building African dignity in the process. America wants all the world's investors to invest in America, then use the wealth against Africa. CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH?!!
