like a little bro begging his older bro for help lmao but yeah Kev literally stopped the momentum to say absolutely nothing. And Patrice giving him the most stern, disappointed look was icing on the cake
I watched this show when it first aired and now on TH-cam. Nobody but these guys I believe stood on they’re feet the whole show, I think Lenny Clarke was choppin lines for everybody back stage.
This episode is a prime example of why I believe talent doesn’t always equate to success. The most successful comic in that whole lineup is undoubtedly Kevin Hart. But, is he the most talented? Hell no. Patrice is, and by a wide margin. He’s a better standup comedian, he’s funnier in observation humor, satirical humor, writing, across the board. If he were still with us, he’d still be overlooked. But look at what happened they called out Kevin’s phony soliloquy and called him a fraud. Real does recognize real. And the true artist will almost always be overlooked when you have those so quick to “sellout”.
Yep and Patrice always had different levels to his thought process which made me ultimately start thinking differently and here’s kevin with his dumb little arguments. No one was on board bc yes they were phony.
If you knew anything patrice actually took kevin under his wig thats why he was on this show. I think its fitting kevin is the most successful look who taught him
Kev's whole schtick is that he's a cute little black man that isn't funny, that was way more marketable than Patrice's honest humor since the PC cops were running rampant in the 2000's and couldn't handle his "attitude" problem. Even though Kev is successful and famous now, at least he acknowledges that he wouldn't be anything had it not been for Patrice and Keith and Colin
Kevin is ok. He had good work ethic and business sense. Not to mention he was like 24 here. There have been far worse famous comics. Patrice was a great talker. Standup was cool. He hated the game and sabotaged himself multiple times either due to morals or in some cases just because.
I thought that Kevin Hart just became PC when he started gaining mainstream fame but his jokes here prove that he's always punked out when it comes to serious issues
Honesty doesn’t earn money, if any of us are were looking at the potential money he was looking at…. you’d be a liar if you say you wouldn’t sell out in a second. I’d give up teaching and being exhausted in exchange for making millions making terrible movies and selling out in less then half a second.
Big reason why he's hit or miss with a lot of people, he wanted the money and the fame. Compare that to Patrice who was pretty much his direct opposite yet they had chemistry because of how awful lil Kev was at comedy
@@daquansbussy4288 he's not awful, he just doesn't wanna piss off the wrong people to lose what he's attained. And I get it but that limits what he can say or if he does say things he either immediately retreats or issues apologies
Just speculating here, but do you think it’s possible he knew about the show, and didn’t want to step into the line of fire so to speak with these savages? Just speculation like I said, but it’s not hard to see many other comedians from the time NOT wanting to stand next to Patrice and have to try to be funny with him (of course you’re not going to be funnier) because it’s asking the impossible. I think norm knew about Patrice and loved his stand up, but I’d suspect he was all set squaring off with him recreationally. Plus norm was a classy guy who stepped aside for many up and comers. Tough crowd was a core group of comics with a rotation of guests promoting movies shows etc. propel on the rise. Norm respected the grind and knew even then he didn’t need to prove anything to anyone. I agree I think norm would have been a great addition to the unique mix on tough crowd.
@@ValSalva1337 Norm was a grown man, interacted with many great comics, and was one himself. He also wasn't insecure. I doubt he was afraid to "go toe to toe with Patrice". He respected him and liked him, and would've been respected as well, and funny. Plenty of comics did well on this show without doing the insult back and forth thing.
That was the point of it though if it was organized it would’ve never worked these guys worked great in unorganized off the cuff environments the only one that worked out in that other environment was kevin hart and he’s out of his league amongst all these guys besides Norton
It was towards the comics.. this entire episode was none of their bests but has the classic back to back Webster, Different Strokes moment from Patrice and Jim
@@sketch2347 During the fake press conference at the end Colin says he hated the last segment and was disappointed because they are 4 hilarious comedians to which Patrice says that's the best we could do because we only had one day to write

Crazy Watching this Kevin hart is one of the most successful comedians of all time but on this show he was the least funny. I understand this is the beginning of his career but even at his peak Patrice o Neal and even Jim Norton are way funnier then him
the problem with this show (which I love btw) is that they all trample over each other and never let the other guy get their joke out. Patrice was awful at doing that
-Poottitis was bad? -It wasn't bad. But the way you set it up, no one even knew what you were saying until it was too late.. -Well, whose fault is that? My genius, or them? They don't know what the fuck they are doing? -Well, either way...
As much as I loved when sensitive comics would come on and get trashed by the Cellar Crew, the show was great when the panel would be filled with killers.
2 things we figured out watching this, lenny clarke never made it big because hes just loud and not really funny, and kevin hart sold out in im sure more ways than one to be the next gary coleman
Colin yelling at Kevin Hart telling him he’s a Phony is a comedy landmark
Jim Norton's joke at 2:45 KILLED me.
Lmao
Actual good one from Jimmy lmao
That was good & I don’t like him.
"We look like like two father son teams" was so funny it stalled the show for a moment. It was great.
@@SuninSanDiego or when he called Kevin bettlejuice haha
7:21 When Kevin start making his point Patrice puts away his drink and starts looking down at Kevin in disgust.
Stern disappointment similar to an older brother
The show is always the best when they are all standing.
8:06 your 14 drinking coffee 😂😂😂
8:07 all the compilations missed this one
I love how Colin mumbled his way through that Bill Cosby quote and the sentence preceding it but enunciated the n word as clearly as possible lmao
Patrice to Kevin after his pointless contribution: Shut up, you'r fourteen drinking coffee. LOL
Patrice the GOAT
Take a sip every time Norton blinks
7:40 look at how kevin looks at Patrice after Colin rips him lmao funniest thing he done this episode
like a little bro begging his older bro for help lmao but yeah Kev literally stopped the momentum to say absolutely nothing. And Patrice giving him the most stern, disappointed look was icing on the cake
That's the bit
That's the bit they were doing
This was classic/ comedy gold!!!
I watched this show when it first aired and now on TH-cam. Nobody but these guys I believe stood on they’re feet the whole show, I think Lenny Clarke was choppin lines for everybody back stage.
Jim wrecking Kevin here was one of my favorite Tough Crowd moments. Following up the first burn with the Different Strokes insult was brutal.
Haahah shut up you're 14 drinking coffee
Colin's impression of Bill Cosby kills me haha
13:55 Who knew Jim and Kev would be on the opposite sides of this? Who knew the sides they'd choose?
I used to love this show. Guess it couldn’t exist these days
Colin being disappointed and Patrice calling back at him after was the best father/son exchange on television
2:45 Best Jim Moment
CQ and ptrice Jesus, absolute gods of comedy and calling out bullshit

legendary

Norm always avoided political humor and he's Canadian lol. Pretty sure this was during his sitcom/ celebrity poker run @ValSalva1337
I miss this age of comedy 😞
Back when all the comedians were gangstas
when i clicked the link i thought it was an old stern clip with beetlejuice and his handler
Only other real comics can make Kevin sweat!
Fuckin Colin calling out Patrice and his throwback jersey 😂

what do they call Colin at the start? i can only hear heitmasser or some crap
Heat Miser. Its from The year without a Santa Claus
colin prances around like redd foxx
Why does Lenny Clark have the voice of Pumba?
That Lance Armstrong thing didn’t hold up 😂
Where can I find the bucket episode?

ive never seen anything more out of place than Lenny in this episode
Yeah really. He had to rely on screaming to try to be funny and he failed miserably
That lance armstrong take hasn’t aged well.
Jim’s last joke fell flat cuz of that storybook bit lmao
Kevin Hart was way better when Patrice was supervising him.
funny how norton gets trampled over by everyone at 11:11
How the mighty have fallen, comedy central then and now............. with Trevor Noah 🤢 🤮 😢

Yuck!

Jim Norton isn't funny. He's just loud and angry like a lot of stubby white dudes.
He'd been like 20 movies as a comedic actor by this point. Not The beginning of his career by a long shot. He's just a below average comedian.

patrice and k hart already knew
