    Wool is one of the best insulators when wet

      I’m surprised it’s not used more than synthetics. At least in the woods.

    My great grandma knitted a pair of RIDICULOUSLY warm gloves for my great grandpa. In fact he built my old house with them, but I don’t want to use them cause they’re an heirloom at this point. Ever since then, no gloves have even come close to being that good, they were almost too hot, even at 10 or so degrees.

    I happened to find your video, and it just opened my eyes, I got several pairs of USA military surplus gloves, and they are amazing. So Sr. Thank you for the tip. You have literally taken me out of the misery

    You are absolutely right! I've been using them for years. I just get a larger pair of leather, unlined, gloves for chopping and handling wood.

    Omfggg you even shop for wool gloves at the military store?! You really are like my dad lol. He did the same thing because they wouldn’t keep him warm enough. I remember going with him. So weird lol. Your giving me nostalgia

    I’ve had good luck with Watson gloves from alberta Canada. They’re leather and lined

    He doesn’t need to be lying to say that wool gloves keep him warm and also understand this isn’t meant to cover scenarios like -30-50 degrees in high wind or cover specific uses like skiing or climbing. Warm is warm, throw a shell or larger mitten over and it’s fine for most uses.

    I feel his pain. We have bitter winters here and I can't do many things outdoors because my hands freeze quickly. I'd like to know what brand these gloves are.

      I don't know the brand. They're unlabeled from my local military surplus store.

      best bet is to just go to your local military surplus store

    I'm noticing all kinds of hate comments. I'll just let you know that if you're satisfied with them, that's what matters. People shouldn't base their entire reality around one short anyways.

    Are those the Belgium military wool gloves? I just ordered a 3 pack new for 12 bucks, they look identical.. I'm suppose to receive them tomorrow.

      @user-ik4fd9ny4b sportsman's guide. They feel a bit smoother on the hand then the usgi wool glove liner which is 75/25 wool/ cotton. So I'm suspecting they may not be 100% wool like advertised. They still feel pretty warm though.

    • @thegoyimknow.
      @thegoyimknow. 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They're a good liner imo. I'd never wear them by themselves in true cold weather.

    What’s the store you bought them at? I have the same issue and have just resigned myself to cold and cracked hands for winter.

    • @WildernessGrandpa

      It's a locally-owned military surplus store in the city I live by. Check your local area for any Army or Military surplus stores. They probably have the same kind of gloves. I hope these help you!! It's miserable being outside with cold hands. BTW - they're not good for getting wet. If you're going to have your hands in the snow, they're not as effective.

      I used to get ALOT of surplus off e b a y , shop around for prices and whether its new or used.
      Their usually cheap enough I end of with several pair of different types.

    Seriously, it's 2024 and manufacturers can't figure out a nice warm set of casual gloves.

    • @L46C3
      @L46C3 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If I may: It's not that they can't figure it out, it's that a single finger isn't large enough to keep warm on a very cold day. They are isolated and surrounded by frigid cold. Mittens, on the other hand have the circulation/heat of 4 fingers none cover.

    • @chadbrownlee3144
      @chadbrownlee3144 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @user-ik4fd9ny4b I'm aware of this, but sometimes mittens aren't practical and they pretty much turn your hand into a claw. We have the materials for excellently insulated gloves down the teens ( in Fahrenheit). I only know this because I had an excellent set of gloves 20 years ago from Cabellas that was wool on the outside gortex and thinsolate on the inside and they kept my hands warm down to those temperatures. Unfortunately they got lost in a move and I have not been able to find a suitable replacement.

      @@WildernessGrandpa All power to you if you like wool alone, those things stay really warm and they're insanely cheap. Personally, I prefer leather with a well thickened wool, or nylon lined interior, they stay about as warm or warmer than just wool while also looking really nice, at least for my hands. Wool alone doesn't really fit me that well, since they typically aren't cuffed like the leather ones.

    Idk if there’s a minimalist image he’s putting on in this video never seen his stuff before but there’s literally no way this is factual lmao. Reason being never in my LIFE I’ve seen anyone survive, live whatever on the gloves he’s showing lol. I seen videos of family’s living in the COLDEST parts of the world and they will laugh there ass off if they seen this video lol. The lie is very very low stakes since it’s a dollar and he can’t actually prove through video he’s warmer or won’t do all that so this vid is so weird to me 😂

    • @WildernessGrandpa
