Today Researcher R. will be reviewing a report on an interaction between the infamous Marion Wheeler, Chief of the Foundation's Antimemetics Division at Site-41, and Elanor Jacob, a Foundation Accounting Agent who recently transferred from to the Antimemetics Division to help with managing the department’s finances.
Excerpt:
Elanor couldn't help but smile. "So these feelings I've been having, are they related to that medication? The mnestics?"
"That depends. Let's see…You've been here six weeks." Wheeler leaned back a little in her chair. "Are you enjoying your job?"
"Actually, yeah, I am. I love handling financial records. I love financial databases." She gave the Chief a knowing look.
"See, unlike people, numbers don't lie."

Do you just use ‘Marion Wheeler” as a search term? I thought I’d read/watched all of her stories, but I’ve never seen this one.

Wait? Is this the same Elanor that realized that entire departments were disappearing? This explains SO much, like why her boss Tom, at the time, couldn't see that the "numbers were wrong" and that an entire department had disappeared.
Ok. The question that should be asked is, why were only 1/3 of the population remade after the last time that SCP 2000 was used? This would be approximately 50 years later, so they shouldn't be looking at empty, imaginary coworkers and neighbors. I'd want to find out why. If there's something wrong with the machine then there's a chance that if there's another XK scenario that nearly ends the world, even less people will be regenerated, say 1 in 5...or the machine may not work at all.
Am I on the right track here?
I think its more that those people simply no longer exist and while the data that shows they should does exist they do not. Which would mean that scp-2000 cannot replace people that are erased merely those that died. It may also be that they no longer have any identity so it can't revive or copy them cause it has no reference. Just a empty file showing their should be a person in computer terms. Hence the numbers being wrong but remaining.
@@0jikori That's an idea I hadn't considered. So, since Marion died, she's here, having been replicated. But, if a person was alive when the reset was done, they wouldn't have been remade....they're now just imaginary.

I would question how much of the population could be “imagined” before there weren’t enough essential actual people to keep the lights on. Probably not much.
I was thinking the related tales are being presented in reverse order?
Whoever made SCP-2000 (in universe) made a mistake, they didn't account for the fact 50 years isn't enough time to produce the required population for the year 2000. Despite the insufficient number of people produced, the class-g hallucinogenics dispersed globally at the end of the protocol still make the population believe there are 6.2 billion people in the world, leaving the remainder to be filled in through "mipsum", memetic place holders that are consistent (or at least perceived as consistent) to all observers.
This would make the perfect first episode of a scp Netflix series ending with the death of an idea

This was great. I love these short stories in the SCP universe.
Thanks again for continuing SCP Tales. Regardless of comments saying they hate this narrator, I actually prefer his voice. It's a nice change. The voice used for the regular SCP entries sounds like they're going a bit TOO much for the "authoritative sounding voice of a super secret agent" or something. Thanks, SCP Tales VA, I appreciate the work you do!

If they thought it was anti-memeic or memic wouldn't it have made sense to use tele-kill or even scramble instead of class W?
Obviously class W was right, but for them to know they needed to delete a part of their perception to see the truth that would mean they knew
It could be that telekill is both limited in supply and potentially dangerous if overused, they have been through this before and are operating off of retained instinct, the effect happened regardless of location so they deduced that the supposed meme/antimeme was already in their heads, the fact they are always on class-w and were using what they had as to avoid potentially losing the lead by waiting too long, or scramble may have never been "fixed" in this reality. There's plenty of potential reasons.

kinda new to all the scp universe... so am lost as to what this is all about.. i understand that there are no longer as many people on the earth?? or this reality.. If you haven’t done the Marion Wheeler rabbit hole start with scp-55.
At some point in the recent past(around 50 years) there was a world wide exitinction event. ZK//XK class Scenario and scp 2000 was used to repopulate the world as well as make all the clones of the entire world think there was no break in continuioty by using the class G Hallucinogenics. And the underlying thing here is that there is no way to know how many times we keep using SCP 2000. It could be the year 3022 for all we know.
