19-5 IL 55 (25s) WR

This run improves my previous record by 17s!
RTA time: 32s 500ms (prev. 49s 680ms by me)
I knew this level had sequence breaking potential back in Sep 2021 when I did my original IL. So I'm very happy I finally made the sub-world skip in this level work over 2 years later.
There is a lot of tech in this level;
- ground pound turnaround jump to smuggle the P-switch
- wall jump out of pipe to accel faster
- all the stuff to skip the sub-world
The trick I came up with coincidentally ended up being very similar to my 17-1 IL ( • 17-1 IL 480 (20s) WR ) where you need a triple jump, walljump, ground pound to jump over a big wall.
To get over the wall I came up with the following:
- set up the P-switch by throwing it to the right out of the pipe
- wall assisted triple jump with grabbing P-switch (usually can't triple jump with items)
- precise throw and walljump (while holding spinjump to not lose height repressing jump during walljump)
- groundpound P-switch jump and aerotwirl
The groundpound is crucial as it cancels my leftward momentum which lets me turnaround to move right much earlier than normally possible from a walljump. If your wondering, a P-switch carry walljump into a p-switch jump gives you the height but that doesn't work because the P-switch jump gives you way too much leftwards momentum.
Anyway the ending is the same as usual but still pretty easy to mess up so nice that I didn't choke the ending. If you want to see the original IL it's here ( • SMC 19-5 38 (42s) FWR ) thanks for reading :)
