Roger Hodgson still tours today and he was the true voice and genius of Supertramp. I saw him about 4 years ago and he hadn't lost that incredible voice. His band was good too.
They certainly weren't ALWAYS uplifting. But Roger's songs were clearly the most upbeat, where Rick's were generally the most broody. The combination of which made 'Crime of the Century' such a wonderful album. When I hear this song, I'm reminded that Rick and Roger had stopped writing together at this point (Famous Last Words). This was a Roger song, almost what you'd hear on his solo projects after this.
It makes me sooo happy when I see young ppl listen to the music I grew up with!! Todays music has zero talent to me. So to see a band such as SUPERTRAMP get new fans..makes me happy ❤ 🎶
One of my favourites, maybe not the best but so much memories. Remember sitting in my favourite Cafe back in the 80s on a friday afternoon when suddenly a heavy rainshower came down. One of the guys was putting a coin into the Jukebox and ... This moment I will never forget my whole life !!
When I saw Roger Hodgson (the writer of this song) live, the instrument you're referring to was a melodica. Look it up. It's a small handheld single octave wind instrument. It was originally played by Rick Davies - the co-founder of the band and overall keyboard guy. This was what was used in the original recording, and yes, it worked wonderfully!
Happy song that seems simple but is full of small details typical of Supertramp, I see myself listening to this song driving my car with the sunroof open enjoying the fresh air of Patagonia on my next summer vacation 🚙. Probably, in addition to the music, Verdy's smile will come to mind. Thanks for the sweet reaction.🤞
Wow…I haven’t thought of that nursery rhyme at the end for decades! That takes me back….waaaaaay back. To the person who said it was English…, it made its way across the pond as well. 😁
Hi, I just discovered your channel by accident - I put a comment on the top songs of the 80s video. Then I had a look at what else you had and there was this utter gem. Many reactors do Supertramp but they always seem to miss out what is to me at least their very best song! A couple of years ago I went to see Roger Hodgson in concert - he's the singer on this one, and he does one-man-and-a-band shows, covering all the Supertramp hits. It really was one of the best concerts I've ever been to - his voice hasn't changed over the years, his piano playing is great, the band was rocking, the audience was really enjoying it. But when he played this one, the entire Royal Albert Hall was up on its feet singing along, even me, who couldn't sing a note if my life depended on it. What a great song, and it was nice to see someone appreciating it so much.
Great song...this whole album is underrated. It tends to be forgotten, in the shadow of "Breakfast in America" and "Crime of the Century," but it's got a lot of good songs.
Hey Verdy, great reaction again. It’s so easy to be joyful with a band like Supertramp. I believe the sound at the end is a Melodica . It’s a small hand held keyboard with a tube that lets the vocalist plow into the keyboard creating that unique sound. Another interesting fact……the tune at the end being sung by children is an old English nursery rime. Thanks for this.😍
Hello from Colombia South America, I subscribed to your channel because I love to see your reaction to the songs, your facial expression indicates that you enjoy them, send me a greeting and I'll be happy 🤣🤣
The best way to listen to music is either in complete darkness or with very low ambient light. You must factor in some music to your day always. You will carry the joy with you into the rest of your day.
Cannot believe you're European and never heard Supertramp! Regardless, have you ever heard Carly Simon? The song "You're So Vain" Live if possible. That is a song I would love to see on your channel if you've never heard it. I guarantee you'd love it.❤ I love your channel, btw.
Verdy, je pense que tu as le plus beau sourire !!!! Comment s'est passé l'extraction des dents de sagesse pour vous ? Grandes réactions à Supertramp !!!
Would love to see Roger in action again. Saw him 10 years ago on solo tour. A Supertramp reunion is extremely unlikely as Rick is apparently very ill and Roger never bit at the idea, but Roger's band was top-notch - all great performers, and the songs were DEAD on. They even did 'Fool's Overture', which modern tech makes what was formerly impossible, possible.
Verdy, really like your show. Your always so upbeat and spirited, and give off good vibes, just being you. If you like Supertramp you should really check out, Crosby, Stills, Nash , and Young. Their melodies and Harmonies are just incredible. Try: 1. Suite Judy Blue Eyes 2. Teach Your Children 3. Wooden Ships 4. Helpless 5. Military Madness 6. Southern Cross 7. Almost cut my hair Too many others Thanks
So glad you discovered Supertramp. Great, great band. You might want to also sample some Steely Dan since you like the sax.

Great reaction! If you love saxophone and the way Supertramp's John Helliwell plays it, then you must check "My Kind of Lady", from the same album this song comes.
Hi Verdy. Good to see you continuing your exploration of some of my favourite prog/rock bands. I don't think I've seen you do any reactions to Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson (apologies if I'm wrong). Might be worth giving them/him a try? As you seem to like keyboard and guitar solos, I'd recommend Home Invasion/Regret #9 from Wilson's album Hand Cannot Erase. In fact just about everything on that album is terrific!
A similar song you can do a reaction would be CCR - Bad Moon rising....the melody is happy and joyful while the lyrics tell about inevitable doom :D i love it
The album after Famous Last Words is more interesting in my view, Brothers Where You Bound, from the great opener Cannonball to a couple of more darker and complex songs such as No Inbetween and Better Days.
I can assure you that you'll enjoy listening to Waiting So Long and Don't Leave Me Now, even more if you listen one right after the other (Waiting So long first).
You have a new sub with me. You play a lot of the '70s and '80s music I get tired of hearing reviews over nothing but rap or music that really won't be around like the music from the '70s and '80s have. Keep up the good work
The song reminds me of my own days as a teenager, easy times that were ;-) PS: Please react to Rammstein again, preferably "Ich tu dir weh" live in Madison Square Garden: th-cam.com/video/6TR12QnOAzE/w-d-xo.html "Engel" same concert: th-cam.com/video/eSaa3vC_n2k/w-d-xo.html
Admittedly I disliked this track when it hit the radio in the early 80s. Thought it was too bubblegum pop and grating. But today it's a different story. I rather enjoy it. In fact, the entire album 'Famous Last Words' is an underrated and entertaining listen, despite its mediocre critical reputation. It was the last record with Hodgson also and many fans wanted a huge "follow-up farewell" with the same punchy quality of 'Breakfast In America.'
Le clavier dont tu cherche ce que c'est est un MELODICA! Ils l'utilisent aussi dans l'intro de Hide in your shell... th-cam.com/video/-iYNawpY5Fc/w-d-xo.html

Happy to see a young person enjoying the music of my youth!!!
Your smile just radiates. Plus you recognize how the song is put together!
I agree her smile is infectious!
@@tammiec4937 absolutely 🙂
It's nice to watch you because you have so much genuine joy!
Supertramp is one of those bands that you just close your eyes and fall in love with. All such good musicians
Roger Hodgson still tours today and he was the true voice and genius of Supertramp.
I saw him about 4 years ago and he hadn't lost that incredible voice. His band was good too.
I couldn’t name a Supertramp song after Roger left, honestly.
What a fantastic uplifting band Supertramp were.👍👍
They certainly weren't ALWAYS uplifting. But Roger's songs were clearly the most upbeat, where Rick's were generally the most broody. @@Chordonblue you obviously know your Supertramp stuff.......they always uplifted me anyway!!!!!!
You have a gift to articulate the feelings music elicits. I bought this when the album first came out because it is such a joyful song.
To hear this song on a bright and sunny day, is the best!!! Love this….
It is funny Verdy that this song is a feel good song that is about a heartbreaking loss.
Seeing you enjoy the songs I have loved since my youth makes my day - Thanks for these great reviews!
Verdy, great reaction to this!!! One of my favorite Supertramp songs!! Great to see your enjoyment and appreciation!!!
The lyrics acknowledge the crappy situation while the music informs that life goes on.
The saxophonist in Supertramp was John Helliwell. A very talented man.
Supertramp ont ete mes professeurs d'Anglais preferes car ils chantaient toujours d'une maniere claire et precise. Et leur musique!!! INCROYABLE! 8-)
It makes me sooo happy when I see young ppl listen to the music I grew up with!! Todays music has zero talent to me. So to see a band such as SUPERTRAMP get new fans..makes me happy ❤ 🎶

Supertramp's fantastic and easy to fall in love with VERDY...
Wow…I haven’t thought of that nursery rhyme at the end for decades! That takes me back….waaaaaay back. To the person who said it was English…, it made its way across the pond as well. 😁
The instrument you're referring to is an Italian instrument called a melodica. It's sort of a hand held keyboard that you blow into.
It rained here twice this week. For 3 days each time, but today the sun is shining ✨️ 😎
Thanks for the beautiful music and the wonderful reaction.
Not even finished yet and this is already my favourite reaction video this month.
Wow! Think I'm in love! Love watching your reactions!
Toujours adoré supertramp

Czy tylko mi się buzia uśmiecha gdy to słyszę??
Love Supertramp. Just been watching your genesis reactions too. Both fantastic.
It's a melodica, that keyboard thing you would blow into one end, usually used by little kids at primary school.
Thanks again for appreciating beauty. You may not believe this, but I was your age once 😉. I loved this too.
Yeah. the happiest bittersweet song ever.

You're Right is a melodic scaleta played by John Helliwell

It is the keyboard set in the accordion mode. Which was very new at the time!
Saw the Tramp 4 times remember the accordion being played
Live, it was done with accordion. Here, it was done with a melodica.
Thank you! I stand corrected.
Wonderfull song!
This song is about crying for a friend
Verdy. !!
Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷🙋♂️
Verdy, je pense que tu as le plus beau sourire !!!! Comment s'est passé l'extraction des dents de sagesse pour vous ? Grandes réactions à Supertramp !!!
The saxophone 🎷 is awesome in this song
Try “Fool’s Overture” by Supertramp. Preferably a live performance. Haunting.
I love to see you enjoying the music from my youth!😊😊😊
BTW I LOVE your channel!
Supertramp and Roger Hodgson forever

te voir aimer les chanson supertramps , ta sourire.........tu est tres aimables xx
I would highly recommend “TNT” and “Dirty deeds” AC/DC at the river plate some of my all time favorites
This one is a nice 80's vibe Supertrtramp song, but... in this album there are many many fantastic songs that you will love, "Bonnie" is great
Supertramp !!! Let's Go !!!

Enjoyed Your Analysis/Reaction As Always..
A MUST HEAR Classic With Saxophone,,
Spandau Ballet "True"...Trust Me!!
wonder if she recognized the kids tune at the end?
The instrument is a melodica

If you like Supertramp, listen to a little obscure song called Cannonball.
The album after Famous Last Words is more interesting in my view, Brothers Where You Bound, from the great opener Cannonball to a couple of more darker and complex songs such as No Inbetween and Better Days.
Try the album Crisis What Crisis...
I can assure you that you'll enjoy listening to Waiting So Long and Don't Leave Me Now, even more if you listen one right after the other (Waiting So long first).
As much as you like layering, I'd like to suggest Donald Fagen: New Frontier
Great reaction 😉 ! Pink Floyd “DOGS OF WAR”
Play that SAXY music 😊

Check out "Don't Leave Me Now" from the same album. 👍
Agreed, it's a great song, I think this album is overlooked, lots of great songs on Famous Last Words...
When it comes to albums that are overlooked, Free as a Bird certainly is. Some really good strong uptempo songs on that one.
Melodica is the instrument
Yep.
Try Gary Moore parisenne walkways
Should have watched music video
The song reminds me of my own days as a teenager, easy times that were ;-)

Hey, why not look into Jimi Hendrix with The Experience. All 3 albums in the studio are masterpieces.

Lady, It's Raining Again Just Give A Little Bit Breakfast In America
I dont get how there is no cover of this song, made by women.
If somebody can show me, I would be happy 😊
Not the most memorable lyrics, but the song is fun. Supertramp has done much better stuff before that.
Not my favorite song on Famous Last Words, Don't Leave Me Now is better.

Here's my reaction: "I'm farting again, oh no I'm losing a friend"
Instrument not inshtrument ;)
I think it was an Accordion.
