  • It's time to reinforce our custom built roof rack as we prepare to mount our brand new roof-top tent. On this phase of the project, we'll refresh our roof rack as we make it more sturdy & stable to carry the much heavier load of a tent. We'll also assemble, prepare, and test-fit our RTT before taking it out on its first trip in a couple of weeks.
A full write-up, including specifications of each phase of our project, can be found on our newly refreshed website: azoffroad.net/...

I think I would have opted for something other than wood for those spacers. Plastic lumber comes to mind, it is used for foot bridge and sun decks. Super durable and will not weather like wood does. You can cut it with the same tools you use for wood. After some time that wood will get pounded out and start squeaking. Even though you painted it, it will swell when wet and shrink when dry. I think that plastic lumber can be purchased at a building supply store.

So far zero issues with the wood spacers. They are working perfect as designed. Water is never an issue in Arizona... Never rains ... lol

Great vid series, very informative. Do I have no interest in doing the work yourself? I see your dad doing everything, just curious? WJ’s are the best trucks to own, modify, off road n enjoy, cheers!

I have been investing making a do it yourself RTT. The one you have purchased is ideal. Have You had any problems or recommendations?
