As an innocent bystander and being an outsider from this battle, Jackson outperformed Southern..Jackson’s arrangements were much better…Jackson was much more balanced…Jackson had lighter and darker tones to their arrangements to embody the songs when appropriate…

I’m LATE to this one but no cap, Boom is clear AF. Song selection 👍, Articulation 👍, fullness 👍. SU is always nice but 5th quarter goes to those boys from MS. Two GREAT bands. Juke for life!

They styles are different and the Arrangements are as well based on the instrumentation.
Depending on the type of song one writes for power tge ithwr writes for fullness
JSU arrangements are more detailed and full of soul. Respect to SU. It comes down to the control and pitch with the better sound. Both bands are cold 🥶 though.
I have to give the zero quarter to SU the 5th quarter to JSU. This was more of a serenade you for SU. JSU came hard. But you have to say i don't know if it collins or todd that wrote that Thank GOD for SU. That piece smokes. Goodnesa. Love both of these power houses!!
Southern is more polished...it was over after My Funny Valentines...Im a fan of both bands...JSU sounds kinda thin. Ive seen give S.U the business before, but this rendition of JSU aint it.. Southern wasnt flawless, they have to tone those btones down and make sure they're tuned up.. so far this season TXSU..have the cleanest sound to me!!

That My funny Valentine was outstanding. Nothing else played imo topped that. That tune really really hurt Jackson. However, i was extremely impressed with JSU. as far as the power they were pushing with their travel band. Imo though. I think JSU hurt themselves by playing Thank God at Southern. especially as their last song. They have a nice arrangement but it was not messing with Southern's version. I really don't think they should have pulled that out as their last song and let that be their last impression knowing Southern would play it back. I still to this day don't understand why they did that and left themselves wide open like that. At 1st i thought. Surely they're setting SU up for something, but when they left i was wonder wth, why would you do that.

I think JSU started off prety strong through the first few rounds. But i got SU 3-2-1 (before JSU left). The round with JSU- MJB and SU-Tamia was a tie for me they both jam!. On a side note they need to have this game later in the season its like the main event of marching season!

I wish folks would stop being delusional and accept that these two heavyweights are not much different from each other. It’s ALWAYS going to come down to personal preference unless there’s a major guffaw from one of them. Me? I prefer a deeper, dark sound. JSU gives me that, so I’d give the edge to them. SU sounds spectacular as well. Their sound is simply too bright to me for some of the rap selections they play. Makes it sound a bit inauthentic. Nothing wrong with a brassy and bright sound! It just doesn’t fit well with the rap selections, but it shines with their ballads and more technical arrangements. Anywho, y’all can argue yourselves blue in the face in the comments. Just brush your teeth afterwards.

SU still have their same original style from the 70’s, from their brassy style of play and the usage of the head plume as a added flash feature to compliment the Jaguar Rock and the caps when doing Whip Turns. SU have videos here on TH-cam that shows they have the same exact style. JSU on the other hand abandoned their entire original style, from their style of play, to the uniforms, and the added rock to compliment their head plumes. All the original style and trademark of SU. That’s why SU always telling JSU to stop copying their style. JSU original style from the 70’s here on TH-cam. They changed completely just so they can try and keep up with and match SU, and that’s truly sad.

I love Southern but JSU was the better band tonight. Southern hasn't sounded the same since 2019… Kendrick does great but they need Simmons or Haymer to Return. They can't keep hiding behind “Numbers” and OverBlowing. Southern used to sound so much better.

Say what you want but when you break it down mathematically and look at the size of both bands, SU should be ashamed at the fact JSU had a comparable sound of power between the 2. With SU numbers they should’ve been way louder, they clearly got skaters and ur delusional if you think otherwise

If you’re listening for intricacies in arrangements, which every SU fan screams about, JSU waxed. If you’re talking power, JSU marched around 150 brass players and were matching power with SU. If you’re talking cleanliness, both bands were equally as clean and sloppy in every way. It was an intense battle and SU came with it. But JSU is on an entirely different level this year.

I am die hard SU fan, even tho one of my favorite directors went to TXSU. However i found myself enjoying JSU muisc selection better. Some of the tunes SU playing i have no clue what it is. 😅 When JSU start to slide over i knew the tables was going be turned😂😂😂 That power was stuipd and they are smaller.. This was a good Boombox. Both of the bands sound great and this was only week 3 of the season. JSU and SU had power. It comes down to personal preference. I prefer The 💥 Boom for the 5th!
