he did explain it perfectly "the top of THE hill between Morphett vale and here" (clarendon), if you follow the rd. they are standing by it takes you up the hill via Grants Gully rd. to Piggott Range rd, to Morphett vale he lives on that hill.
True but there are small town places only an hour away from Adelaide, that's the beauty of Adelaide, these regions are so accessible and you can get back to the city easily.
I've really enjoyed your videos in SA. I live and grew up in SA (Bridgewater), now in Semaphore by the beach and love it. We get such a bad wrap here, but it's the city for introverts. Thanks for showing the beauty of just a little our state. There's so much more and so hard to choose what to see with limited time. Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, Filters Rangers, Monato Zoo. I've never been to Hugo winery, so that is now on the list. ❤
I’m so happy you followed the recommendation from the cool guys you met in the city in your previous video... What a gorgeous part of the world. I love cheese too Mado.❤
Thanks again for the day out with you both. I absolutely LOVED Clarendon, wow wow wow , as Mado would say. Im mad about flowers as well, and the houses and whole village was gorgeous. The winery HUGO was really well established and very reasonably priced for tasting and beautiful platter. Id definitely go there if im ever in Adelaide. Cheers 🍻 guys. ❤😊
You have the Adelaide Hills close to town, Barossa Valley is well worth it as is The Clare Valley. Down south, near Mt Gambier you have the Coonawarra. SA is renowned for its reds and crisp whites.
Lol..I've known don for many many years. Hadn't seen him in many until a couple of weeks ago.we chatted for a small whilst at the shops and wished each other well. Then saw this and decided to watch and bam! he's Don!!! So funny .
I live on the northern beaches of Sydney and I think Adelaide is one of the best kept secrets. I love visiting. Morialta nature reserve is a great walk to spot wild koalas .. Belair National park a bit more of drive but you’ll see more koalas. … not that it takes long to drive anywhere in Adelaide…compared to Sydney anyway. Great cafes / restaurants, beaches and of course the wineries. It’s been great following your adventure. Thank you.
Love Clarendon. That bakery has been there since I was a kid (60 plus years at least). In the 1960's and 70's if you lived in the city, and wanted fresh bread on a weekend, you would drive to places like the Clarandon bakery.
Nice video. Nothing better than some wine and nibbles on a sunny afternoon, with a beautiful view of the hills and vines. Just one of the many wineries around Adelaide, large and small but always a great experience.
Glen, that wire fence you touched right near the end of the video was electrified!!! Thankfully it wasn’t live at the time or we’d all know about it ⚡️ Don’t touch wire farm fences (or pee near one!!) without checking first if it’s an electric fence. They are quite common on small to medium scale farming properties.
Great video, Adelaide is actually the wine capital of Australia not just South Australia, it produces by far the most wine and also the most famous wines in the country, also dome world famous wines.
Thats my neck of the woods for taking the motor bike out for a run in the weekend. Lots of townships like Clarido, its one of the smaller ones. Plenty of bakeries, cafe's and character pubs for a feed. Glad you are enjoying it here, you have only just scratched the surface. Adelaide is one of those places that grows on you with a slow reveal, it has substance over short term wow factor.
Thanks for the kind words, we really appreciate you joining our journey! We do our best to look at the bright side of life everyday. There could be no tomorrow so we need to keep smiling 🙌
My favorite winery moment was arriving at a place to find the tasting door closed. Hanging from a bit of string was a burner mobile phone. It had a note on it "if you want a tasting give us a call". We did and a guy soon drove up holding a sub. He had wandered off to get his lunch at a local take away shop
McLaren Vale is one of my fav regions. Just a heads up on pronunciation ... it is not 'McLaren Valley', it's 'McLaren Vale' with 'Vale' pronounced 'Vail'. Another great video. Have fun. 😀
South Australia is my home of 38yrs I now work and live in Asia. I miss the food and just general beauty of the places. Glad you are both enjoying yourselves and I wil give you a sub as I'm enjoying the videos cheers.
Having only just "recovered" from the Adelaide city tour.....sourced "therapy"....but decided to plunge "down the rabbit hole" of another vid....in a good way of course. Needed a drink after the last one..but happy to watch you guys imbibe & enjoy. Weather perfection. Thx U 2.😊
Hi Mado and Glen, I live in the southe eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Close to the Dandenong Ranges. I love watching your videos. Seeing Australia with your eyes. Love Adelaide too! Most of the buildings in South Australia are build from Sandstone, not Limestone. The reason that the German settlers build most of their houses out of Sandstone not the Traditional German way was because it was the cheapest and most available building material. I came to Australia from Speyer/Rhein in 19973, as a child. Was in Hahndorf last Christmas, got some beautiful Bienenstisch! Was hoping watching your videos that you would find the same bakery I did. Enjoy Australia
You two took yourself to another exquisite part of South Australia and got to enjoy the spoils. Yes we have 18 distinct wine regions, 17 of which are within 2 hours of the city. All with their own soil and grape varietals and climates and historical buildings and local culture. There are hundreds of phenomenal wineries but you chose well with Hugo. Clarendon is a charming little town as you can see by the old stone buildings. I picked up a koala off the road there and took it to a local vet. The surrounding hills are littered with dozens of such hamlets and thousands of koalas. What would have been criminal if you didn’t get there - but 10 mins drive from your winery is one of the worlds most unique and beautiful beaches - being Maslins beach - our nudist beach which looks like mars and the moon x with the Algarve in Portugal. I completely understand that this could have been a private occasion for you and not to be shared but I do hope that you got there or will return. Re your Brisbane request - look up Walkabout with Rob. He is your guy/guide.
U should go to a country pub and have a steak with chips and salad...lots of Australian have Chips with Chicken Salt it is different... But, Clare Valley is a good place to go aswell...U can get them to send it home for U called COD...to your father make a nice present 🎁 for him or the family... Have U tried a laminton yet or a vanilla slice with passionfruit icing a must have and pavalova with Passionfruit yummee...that beetroot relish sounded good aswell...drive safely... Were U going to be NY in Australia 🇦🇺...???😅😅😅
SA wines are amongst the best in the world. It's a pity you didn't get a chance to visit the Yarra valley or the Mornington peninsula in Victoria. They also have amazing vineyards. Cheers
South Australia is indisputably Australia’s wine state, producing 50% of all bottled wine and about 80% of premium wine, around $1.6billion of the $2.8 billion Australian wine exports in 2023/24
Glen take it on . Wine is about its climatic features derived from the mix of grape soil and climate the alcohol is the byproduct and relaxes the digestive system and the brain .. counter the coffee habit which is also a good habit
A McLaren Vale Shiraz is my very favourite. Asked for a red in Dublin when I as there a couple of years ago. Picked it as a McLaren Vale Shiraz and I was right. Not a wine buff by the way.
Thank you both for checking out Adelaide and glad you appeared to have had a good time here. You really did live like locals by visiting the farmers market at Wayville and your day trips to Maclaren Vale, Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, Hahndorf and Mt. Lofty. I love living here and now you know why Adelaide continuously gets into the most livable cities in the world list, even though we get labelled as boring. Of course there are many more places and areas worth visiting here, and hopefully one day you can see more. Well done on a great series of vlogs. All the best to you in the future and happy travels.
For non wine drinkers, you seemed to enjoy quite a quantity and variety, while making some appropriate assessments in your comments. Baby steps to wine appreciation.
A bit of advice for anyone spending a whole day on a wine tasting tour. Do not finish it off with an evening at a pub on the piss. They don't mix. 15:50... I came across a couple of vending machines outside of Braunschweig also containing their local produce (eggs, cheeses, meats & jams etc) earlier this year. I don't know if a camera was there.
22:18 You don't own PO Boxes, you rent/lease them. Some people just use the PO Box address for privacy, business purposes or just like having a secure place for their mail to go to. Small PO Boxes cost about $150/year to rent.
You guys need to invest in microphones each. Sometimes, it's frustrating not hearing one person over the other. All I get is mumbling at times. But otherwise, I love watching your shocked reactions to different parts of our beautiful country.
I go to McLaren and Barossa most days, they are both beautiful places...if anyone comes to Adelaide and would like a tour you can contact me at all about Adelaide Tours...
Nice guys. Better than the. City. Crap 😊😅 .sounds like. Red hill .Mornington lots of winery s. You need to check out. Mornington. Mt Eliza the Flinders ..guys 😊 when you came back to Melbourne. It just half hour outta the city to. Frankston. Then mt Eliza then Mornington. Then down to .red hill .Flinders s. 😊 Lovely around their. Guys
Those winery places when you sit outside, they need FLY NETS big time, hate it when flies land on your food and constantly keep on waving them away. YUCK.
How do you survive in this world without enjoying good wine. Sorry guys, but your missing out on one of lifes simple pleasures. Oz has some of the best wines in the world. It's such a shame you don't partake. Its like going to an Oz cafe when you don't drink coffee. Total blasphemy imo.
Some people can’t for health reasons or just don’t like the taste. As for coffee I was coffee addict now I can’t drink it I haven’t had one for over 20 years do I miss it of course, but it affects my health if I have it.. 🧐😕
Gotta love the old man at the Post Box. I LIVE UP THE HILL. 😅😅😅 So typical Aussie country phrase. Like they know where up the hill is. 😅
Haha, this is what I say to my neighbours, as I literally live up the hill! :O
Lol 😆🤣
@Evie170lol 😮😅
he did explain it perfectly "the top of THE hill between Morphett vale and here" (clarendon), if you follow the rd. they are standing by it takes you up the hill via Grants Gully rd. to Piggott Range rd, to Morphett vale he lives on that hill.
Small town Australia is amazingly Important, a breath of fresh air.
True but there are small town places only an hour away from Adelaide, that's the beauty of Adelaide, these regions are so accessible and you can get back to the city easily.
This is a fabulous promotion for Hugo Wines. I live in Adelaide & have never been but Hugo will def be on my next itinerary to McLaren Vale ❤😊
You should it’s a hidden gem 🙌
Hi to Mado’s dad who watches her videos! The cheese platter and surroundings is fantastic.
The world feels way more beautiful and happier after a nice glass of wine. Cheers to Glen, Mado and Mado’s dad 🍷

McLaren Vale a region established by my wife’s family the Morphetts, free settlers in 1860’s.
Cheers.
Mado enjoyed herself little tipsy on the finest spirit of SA.
Hope you enjoyed, wine capital of Australia.
I’m so happy you followed the recommendation from the cool guys you met in the city in your previous video... What a gorgeous part of the world. I love cheese too Mado.❤
Aww you’re where I live! Hope you enjoyed your time in McLaren Vale.
McLaren Vale was a good choice👍I love watching you two. Wishing you both a very happy and safe New Year as you continue your travels.🥳

Another excellent video. Great conversations interacting with the locals, and very good editing.
Thanks for the video it looks like you'll come away with some great memories of McLaren Vale
Adelaide is a great secret of Australia. Great Video.🤙🏻💯🇦🇺
SSSSHHHH
Secret with whom? Everyone knows Adelaide
Thanks for showing me a winery I've never been to. What a lovely experience
You're welcome, hope you get to try it someday!
My husband and I love to treat ourselves to wine tasting and food, around the Barossa, it's always memorable.
Lol..I've known don for many many years. Hadn't seen him in many until a couple of weeks ago.we chatted for a small whilst at the shops and wished each other well. Then saw this and decided to watch and bam! he's Don!!! So funny .
Old mate at the winery is a superstar...

You two 'having a moment' makes my heart ache in a good way.

And the car keys he was holding may not have been happy getting a little zap, either...
Great video, Adelaide is actually the wine capital of Australia not just South Australia, it produces by far the most wine and also the most famous wines in the country, also dome world famous wines.
Doesn't matter where you go, you are going to have a great time 🎉🎉🎉
Glen and Mado ,I always love your videos guys , I’m glad your enjoying your Australian travels , so much to see so little time to see it all .👍
You made an old SA born guy, who lives in Nth Queensland, a bit homesick.
Chris Lloyd’s cheese is amazing. She’s so talented.
Oh my days! I just love watching you two - Sláinte / Prost. I bet you’re great to have as friends ❤
Thanks for the kind words, we really appreciate you joining our journey! We do our best to look at the bright side of life everyday. There could be no tomorrow so we need to keep smiling 🙌

Another great video. Have fun. 😀
Great video! Glen and Mado may want to open their own bakery, one day. :)
Incredible to see little old Clarendon (10 minutes from home) feature in a video. There’s so many hidden gems in our beautiful state!
It’s such a hidden gem, glad we could shine a light on it for you 🙌

Yes I agreed and I like Hunter valley too
I stopped drinking 6 months ago. I don't miss it, but a nice drop of red every now and then would be nice
you guys gotta go to wallaroo in south australia
It looks lovely there while you were exploring the town .
:-) Very nice! It's great to experience the local produce.
You can drop off your empty cartons at your next roadside stall so the stall holder has cartons for the next person
South Australia is indisputably Australia’s wine state, producing 50% of all bottled wine and about

If you guys enjoy Cab Savs there are some great wineries in the Barossa Valley to choose from. There are some boutique breweries there too.
Clarendon Bakery A+

The Barossa valley is very similar to this, you guys should check it out
You can always go to Somerton Beach NYE and watch the sunset and then pop over to my friends’ house right by the beach and party with us!
Happy 2025 Glen and Mado! Kia Ora guys.
Happy new year brother hope you had an awesome day! 🙌
@ thank you bro and to you guys. 👌
Thanks, I hope you change the oil in the car to keep you going 😊
If you guys are still in Brisbane you might want to check out Woodford Festival for New Years Eve.
Explore the fleurieu or yorke peninsula, only a few hours drive from city great views of the coast.
Thank You for Another Great Video I Look Forward to your Next ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️🍰☕️🥤🍷🥧☕️👍
Try 'down the rabbit hole wines', very relaxing with music.
We love that you appreciate the views that we see all the time! Happy new year 2025 to you happy wanderers.
my birth town
Enjoy!!!
Great video. Question is how did it compare to new Zealand wines
Supermarket eggs are around 40 days old when you get them , Those eggs were probably from yesterdays Collection .
That unbelievable makes me think different now about eggs haha

Hard to tell with Mado, she always sounds a bit tipsy 🤪
No love, it's the wine 😂
Glen's looking a lot more healthy. He was really worn out looking in NZ. Mandoline is also looking good.
Port lincoln is another good place to visit (and the surrounding areas).
That Platter is Good Value .
You’re right it was delicious!
For non wine drinkers, you seemed to enjoy quite a quantity and variety, while making some appropriate assessments in your comments. Baby steps to wine appreciation.

You need to go to chocolate factory called melbas from memory in Adelaide hills
Glen requires his eggs for protein. lol
have you thought of going to cooper pedy?
That would be a real eye opener and unique experience for them👍
I go to McLaren and Barossa most days, they are both beautiful places...if anyone comes to Adelaide and would like a tour you can contact me at all about Adelaide Tours...
Really sucks when you gotta drive. I feel for ya mate.
You will have a long and happy life if you "always sniff on roses" Mado! ❤
Wo faehrt ihr als naechstes hin?
Was this today guys?
No it was well before Christmas. They have long since moved on.
Its not McLaren Valley. It is McLaren VALE. Pronounciation was wrong. Just correcting it. Glad you enjoyed your stay in SA.

getting sloshed for the video - hope care was taken for driving
Wow you spent some money .. that must have hurt .
National Trust is Heritage listed meaning it can't be altered or demolished it's of historical importance.....
5 min from my backyard.
Those winery places when you sit outside, they need FLY NETS big time, hate it when flies land on your food and constantly keep on waving them away. YUCK.
The old bloke at the egg stand was a bit of a grump. How hard is it to be civil and pleasant?
An Irishman that doesn't drink? The world has gone mad. MAD I SAY!!
Hey mate, take her to Maslins Beach and you hold the camera..
Bottle of Wine ----- $24 dollars is €14.30 --- or in US dollars --- $14 - so much the same.
You dont see any Scientology places around, just small Churches.

Not all people drink!
Wine is antithetical to survival unless you're a producer.
Why do we let Chinese but our history .it needs to be kept as a heritage building.ughh it makes me angry
