I've been getting a lot of comments recently from players who just picked up the game feeling intimidated by this level and I'd like to clear some things up. - This is the final level of the game and is meant to test the player's knowledge of all mechanics they've learned throughout. The mechanics themselves are introduced in early levels in a digestible format and the simplistic design of them makes it manageable to tackle these obstacles accordingly. I wouldn't recommend watching the full video unless you aren't interested in playing as it spoils the climax of the game. - There's a much higher focus on reaction over rhythm in this level and while it's comparably faster to the *tutorial-esque* first level you'll get marginally better with each successful victory. I can't speak for all players but if you put in the time, effort, and focus there's a big chance that you'll finish this. - Most of my actions in this video were in the interest of maximizing my score and are NOT necessary in a casual playthrough, the large majority of thumps (white rectangles) can be avoided, you can hold on spacebar / X / A as well as the corresponding direction to very easily slide against walls without taking damage, flying is only necessary for jumping over spikes that appear on the track, and you restart on a sub-level if you die. Hope this helps, wishing you the best of luck!
I kinda platinum the game after my friend challenged me to do it. I didn’t know many people was having trouble with level 9 since it’s the easiest and most flexible level. Hmm, I had an blasted with this game. Hopefully, Thumper 2 come
Its not as much what you see, its what you hear and feel. Once you get it, the faster the game goes the more smooth it plays. Try for yourself. I suggest VRMODE if able. 10\10 game.
so, the better you are at the game, the more intense and complex the rhythms you are rewarded with, which in turn immerses you even deeper... this game is nothing short of a master piece.
That’s arcade game design for you. A lot of people probably dont even realize it too. I would highly recommend Cave bullet hells, fighting games, or other arcade/arcade inspired games if you enjoy the dizzying levels of flow and complexity that thumper offers.
If this is the road to the black hole... and the beetle is well... the beetle... sign this guy up... he can perfectly and flawlessly get passed the road...
This was the first video of mine to receive a large amount of popularity and I am incredibly grateful for it. Everyone who watched, and rated the video plus reading through your hundreds of comments whether it be bewilderment, excitement, or any questions you had about the game was an absolute joy. Huge Thanks for 100,000+ views. Keep on thumping space beetles!
An impressive score ! You should however write somewhere (in the description ?) that it was a segmented run and not a single segment run (transition at 16:00 for instance), the smooth transition almost got me to believe it was a single run ^^ Thanks for the upload
Muscle memory and studying the patterns thrown at you, drill the tune in your head well enough that you don't lose focus even when you commit a mistake or you pull off combos. Associating the noise of the obstacles as they spawn to anticipate what you have to do is secondary to all this but still helps you remember some parts on replays and you will want to replay the previous tracks and perfect them if you want to give a proper stab at the upcoming one, even after taking a break it's better to play the level before the one you want to play to get you back in the mood.
Got super into this game last year and returning back to watching gameplay videos is insane. Don't know how I beat this game. But I remember the feeling when you're flying through the track. A fucking trance, you're not even looking at the track anymore, it's like you're playing with your freaking soul. Not what you see coming next but what you feel. Just inhuman reflex
DOOM, Devil Daggers, Hyper light drifter, Barrier X, Pony Island, Shantae: Half-Genie a hero, and downwell were all of the games I enjoyed the most from 2016 (all of which being made in 2016 except the last one). I also look forward to a hat in time, yooka-laylee, little nightmares, scorn, agony, flinthook, Cuphead, Dusk, and Strafe which are coming out this year. Most of which I might not get a chance to play due to how many I'm looking forward to haha. I'll have to see if I can get around to playing the witness.
The Witness is a beautiful game. Don't spoil yourself on its secrets like I did. There are aspects to the game that change the way you look at the world. (in and out of the game)
Seriously, the beat and theme is extremely great! And I realize that this was a segmented gameplay, but you still make it like a level walkthrough. I wonder if this game can make me high instead of drugs, and the answer is YES. Now I'm addicted to the rhythm of this game, especially that you're not following the rhythm of any song, you create it by following the beat, which made the game became even more awesome!
I know I'm late to the party on this one - but I've been searching for level 9 S + infinity stuff. Amazing work on this run. Literally inhuman reflexes. I wonder, did Drool ever message you or anything about this (or other) runs? I've seen the dev(s) aka Drool comment on a few videos of master class play :)
The devs haven't done anything to promote me or support me from what i'm aware of. They have done that for someone who's completed PLAY+ mode with an S+ rank however (with significantly less views than mine twitter.com/ThumperGame/status/811775385939505152). Perhaps i'm being modest to say that the effort you see in this video only took me three hours to finish and was completed with plenty of re-tries hence the cross-fading of footage you can see amongst nearly every level transition which is low for my standards. To add to that the only reason I was ranked so highly was because the leaderboards were in their infancy stage since I achieved the S rank 10 days after Thumper released on Steam. I've contemplated whether i'd attempt the Level 9 S+ Rank which many users have asked in this comment section (I was once able to finish levels 9-1 to 9-5 in the small time I worked to finish it) but decided against it when there was already footage of it on youtube. The main reason why I recorded this in the first place was because there were no videos on it and I wanted to upload my own footage to serve as an informational tool for those willing to attempt it with time-stamps to each sub-level and as a personal triumph for myself. I'm enthralled at the overwhelming amount of positive feedback and bewilderment of those the comments that people have left on the video and the large viewcount with this being my most viewed video to date. I've done harder stuff than this in other games and am still motivated to (do hard things in games) but I can't say that i'd return to Thumper unless they updated the game with some new difficult levels / custom music levels / or something that would be both challenging and fun to jump back into the game. If you read both of their AMA's (redd.it/59baf7, and redd.it/6bzn8h). It seems clear that they're done with Thumper after the long development that went into it. Take my accomplishment with a grain of salt. Thanks for your comment, I guess i'm being harsh on myself because no-one else has yet. TL;DR - It's nice they shout other people out but other people deserve it more than me, not really motivated to do level 9 S+ since it's been done before and lack of interest.
About a week ago this motivated me to improve my Thumper scores. After a bunch of practice, I got a 932,800 on ps4 today. Thanks for the motivation, and great video!
I’ve been on and off playing this game 2 years now and just finished level 5 s rank. The more you play the less intimidating fast and complicated levels appear. Still, this is extremely impressive because of all of the unnecessary perfect turns and flying/landing moves. Nice.
Being able to repeat levels definitely makes it more feasible and it's very fun to pull them off. S+ Ranks are definitely a different beast entirely and I have a lot of respect for those that were able to achieve some. Frankly I was satisfied with the game after getting the achievements, awesome time!
Dude this is my favorite game of all time. A lot of people say the music is bad. But I find that hilarious, because the music isn't meant to be some fun follow along little rhythm game. This game is Satan giving you a chance to escape hell. When you're playing this, you're supposed to be terrified and at the edge of your seat. I saw someone genuinely give a 1 star review because this game was too difficult for them. This is a rhythm game, but it's also a horror game. I still get scared playing this shit and honestly, the experience I got playing this game was like no other. It's not perfect, because perfection is unachievable, but I will never get tired of it. Oh by the way, the guy playing is very talented. The perfect turns are insane.
This video may be 7 years old but it reminds me of just how intense and immersive this game can be. Even if I'm not as good at this game as other people (no rly to this day I still cry when some stuff catches me off-guard), it's absolutely fascinating. Also I love how BlueAura, during the first boss of this level was jumping and moving left-right in rhythm.
I didn't even realize that.. Level 4 is like extreme easy mode compared to when you get to Level 7 and 8 and 9. I feel like my skill increased dramatically when I got to the final 3 levels compared to when I was at level 4.
Charles Collins Thanks, I'm no epileptic and didn't consider that there may be those that have a seizure due to this video. It's in the description now and I'll annotate the video with a warning as soon as I can get onto a computer.
Wow, ok, sorry, I did not know you couldn't talk in French. I saw another commentary and I thought you coult both talk in English and French. My bad ^^ So, I see that Google Translate did a not so bad job at translating my commentary. I discovered the game on a TV channel a week ago and I was like "oh, I like rhythm games, it reminds me of Audiosurf 2, a game I love to play". And I watched your video. I was so impressed and terrified by the game aesthetic that I just have bought it today. So thank you
Oh gosh lol that is NOT what I meant I was saying that I was humbled that my video can have such an effect on people and i'm incredibly glad to provide such content to you guys/gals. I'm glad you're enjoying the game and I hope you can finish it, it certainly is hard but the finale is definitely worth the trip there (or as I like to call the rhythmic roller-coaster ride there). Have a great day!
been playing this now and then, it is one of the best and one of the most engaging/satisfying games I ever played (gaming for 25 years), needs an award, both style and gameplay.. its like nothing else from this world, you feel like you left this planet when you play it, into some strange universe.. and in VR, possibly the best I ever played.
What this game also needs is more attention. I feel like it hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves even when it was released. I didn’t know about it until 2018. Now I have been able to get S’s on all levels. I am obsessed with this game and I want a sequel.
I've learnt the mechanics through general play and experimentation, there are only so many actions you can perform in the game and the majority of levels telegraph upcoming threats, hazards, and score opportunities.
I have no idea how you do it. Practice got me no further than 5-1 and I'm stuck there. I could only S level 1. P.S. Just S'd level 2 - that wasn't hard but I don't think I can manage 3.
Since my friend told me about this game, I’ve been bingeing THUMPER videos, and this is THE MOST INTENSE ONE YET. I can’t follow the rhythm in this level, but I hope I’d understand it if I played it up to this point myself from level one. I am so goshdang impressed with this masterpiece.
I genuinely love the immersion that this game gives you while playing, one of the best games I played in 2016 because of it. Best of luck with your goals dude, with enough practice and dedication you’ll definitely get the results 👌
If you see the pause at the end of 9-27 you can almost hear my heart nearly sink into my chest as I didn't know if an A or S was going to show up after taking damage at the end.
@@dottoy In-case you didn't know, it's a reference to an old video game commercial that people used to joke about th-cam.com/video/WCiDfm9i9rQ/w-d-xo.html Glad to hear your dad enjoyed this!
I just got into the game and wanted to say thanks for the video because I understand some of the mechanics a lot better now. I'm on level 8 currently and have S ranked 1-4.
Holy shit, I was so proud of myself for S ranking as far as level 3, and then I watched this and realised a) how difficult the levels end up getting, and b) I am an utter newb. Much respect.
I remember when I was around level 3 I looked this video up out of curiosity and couldn’t even process what I was watching. Now I’m on level 9 and I can follow it. Interesting how the brain adapts.
Job well done! I can't wait to get this on the Switch and then get immediately stumped half-way through. I am terrible at rhythm games, but I do strive to succeed!
I think the game actually does a great job at slowly introducing you to new mechanics and increasing the speed on each successive level. The above video looks really intimidating at first but once you get to it you should be alright. Best of luck and I hope you have a ton of fun!
That’s arcade game design for you. A lot of people probably dont even realize it too. I would highly recommend Cave bullet hells, fighting games, or other arcade/arcade inspired games if you enjoy the dizzying levels of flow and complexity that thumper offers. And just like thumper, you build up to this level of mastery, and it doesn’t take as long as some people might think. Though of course if your going for high scores and True Last bosses it does take some dedication

It seems like an amazing rhythm game
I wonder if it's on the switch?

Thanks, I'm no epileptic and didn't consider that there may be those that have a seizure due to this video. It's in the description now and I'll annotate the video with a warning as soon as I can get onto a computer.
17 levels without dying, and hardly even a mistake aint bad :P
That last level tho...
Just beat the game first time. Those final couple sections had me laughing like a madman. What a game tbh
Is this what LSD feels like?
no
Maybe if you mix your LSD with a overdose of speed...
BlueAura this is amazing! Nice job!
Thanks so much!
no problem! this is truly amazing.

What the hell is happening.
That's "crakhead", the reoccurring boss of Thumper, As the game progresses he becomes more and more twisted and demented, this is his final form
My brain is jelly
Wow, ok, sorry, I did not know you couldn't talk in French. I saw another commentary and I thought you coult both talk in English and French. My bad ^^
So, I see that Google Translate did a not so bad job at translating my commentary.
Thanks. You yoo ! :)
When you take 10 times recommended dose of DMT
been playing this now and then, it is one of the best and one of the most engaging/satisfying games I ever played (gaming for 25 years), needs an award, both style and gameplay.. its like nothing else from this world, you feel like you left this planet when you play it, into some strange universe.. and in VR, possibly the best I ever played.
I love the game too, so many great indie experiences out there! Always nice to see another fan.
honestly your video needs more views this is beyond amazing!!!!!!!!
This is actually the most popular video on my channel. Thanks for the kind words
What this game also needs is more attention. I feel like it hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves even when it was released. I didn’t know about it until 2018. Now I have been able to get S’s on all levels. I am obsessed with this game and I want a sequel.
You've got some insane reflexes! Nice job!!
Bro I can't even see that fast.
Excelent display of reflexes, I loved this video. Also: greetings from Argentina, I'm going to show your video to my friends!
Thanks and greetings from New York. Have a great weekend!
Oh my god.
It's so fast that my phone can't handle the video but HOLY COW you are amazing and I can only imagine how much work you put in to this :D
Thanks, this level took me about 3 hours
Woah but ONLY 3 HOURS??!! How do you manage to learn so fast?
I've learnt the mechanics through general play and experimentation, there are only so many actions you can perform in the game and the majority of levels telegraph upcoming threats, hazards, and score opportunities.
Wow you have my upmost respect
Thanks, i'm humbled to provide entertainment and a resource for those willing to complete the level with S ranks. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
un gros gg super vidéo et très bonne qualité!
How it feels to chew 420 gum
Haha this is crazy, I definitely played through this level but it seems even faster when I'm watching someone else play it.
After about 3 minutes of watching this I zone out of my surroundings and get really focused on this. Very oddly relaxing.
It definitely has some kind of psychological effect on you, imo it's like this journey through beetle hell and it's awesome!
How are you not utterly dead after enduring this?
I had a two day nap after this and I still felt exhausted
BlueAura
You are a hero. Thanks for sharing.
S+ next?
I've played through some of it yeah
I have no idea how you do it. Practice got me no further than 5-1 and I'm stuck there.
I could only S level 1.
P.S. Just S'd level 2 - that wasn't hard but I don't think I can manage 3.
Also, having to edit the Video would have drained Blue even more
I love this game, but level 9 will make your blood boil. You have conquered the impossible, much respect to you.
MAC
Thanks and I hope you look forward to the update that's coming tomorrow for the game!

twitter.com/ThumperGame/status/796030062566916096 they're being mysterious about it
You my friend are a demi-god
Since my friend told me about this game, I’ve been bingeing THUMPER videos, and this is THE MOST INTENSE ONE YET. I can’t follow the rhythm in this level, but I hope I’d understand it if I played it up to this point myself from level one. I am so goshdang impressed with this masterpiece.
I genuinely love the immersion that this game gives you while playing, one of the best games I played in 2016 because of it. Best of luck with your goals dude, with enough practice and dedication you’ll definitely get the results 👌
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE SO JUST DO IT MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE
You sir deserve a medal for that, hell i could barely see half of whats going on, you got a like and a subscription.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!
THAT'S FUCKING INTENSE!!!!😨
Nice skills, BlueAura.
Watching this makes my thumbs hurt. fantastic playing!
Help, my fingers are tangled together!
Have you tried Beetle-B-Gone? ;)
Ive played all the levels and I can imagin you being at the last level and miss clicked and having to restart so you have my forever respect
If you see the pause at the end of 9-27 you can almost hear my heart nearly sink into my chest as I didn't know if an A or S was going to show up after taking damage at the end.
@@BlueAura I just looked and saw it, I didn’t catch that before, it’s always the ones that we expect to hit that we mess up on
is he the legend 27?
The legend27 is the best gamer though. Compared to them I'm nothing.
@@BlueAura nooooo dont day that ur better than my dad acctually 😂😂 he really likes ur videos
@@dottoy In-case you didn't know, it's a reference to an old video game commercial that people used to joke about
th-cam.com/video/WCiDfm9i9rQ/w-d-xo.html
Glad to hear your dad enjoyed this!
I just got into the game and wanted to say thanks for the video because I understand some of the mechanics a lot better now. I'm on level 8 currently and have S ranked 1-4.
26:05....how...*quack*
Holy shit, I was so proud of myself for S ranking as far as level 3, and then I watched this and realised a) how difficult the levels end up getting, and b) I am an utter newb. Much respect.
I'm sure if you keep at it that you'll reach your goals, thank you for for the comment!
I can manage C rank on these levels and I thought I was decent 😂
I remember when I was around level 3 I looked this video up out of curiosity and couldn’t even process what I was watching. Now I’m on level 9 and I can follow it. Interesting how the brain adapts.
The progression in the previous 8 levels helps prepare you for this that’s for sure!
Wtf happened to my eyes? What am I looking at?
haha, don't blink!
For person who played Level 4 and quited, this is impossible...
Ok, I am at level 3 and thx to you I know I am already fu*kde. :D
You'll make it dude!
I hope so, the game is really addictive. xD
I hope this get a sequel, would be cool to see the mechanics expanded upon
If you know the development history of this, you know that a sequel is impossible. Absolute passion project, can't be repeated.
Noice
My god!The beats are incredible yet your skills...Are on a god-like level!
Thank you for the compliment. I’m happy you enjoyed the video!
When your girlfrend tells you that her parents aren't home.
Watching someone else do this, is almost relaxing, but doing this yourself, that will give you a heart attack
Like doctor strange, i have no idea what i'm looking at but i'm sure it would make sense if I was high.
I feel so enjoying just watching you play :D.
We reviewed this on switch but I have to say this is one of the most incredible things I have seen! Awesome!
Thanks I'm flattered and glad that switch owners get to enjoy it as much as I did on PC. Thanks for the subscription!
BlueAura yea it really is great on the Switch. Kudos mate. Look forward to the next game u perfect :)
Very good bug boy. Small bug, good bug.
