@Miles Rains Well said...and VERY true. Hope you're able to read this, because you were concise in your description of Paul Newman, and yet in the short comment, you pretty much summed Paul up perfectly, IMO. I don't know what it is (e.g. the times, technology, perceived self-importance, etc.) with today's actors, but seems like 99% can't compare to a true "Man's Man" that Paul was. And while he obviously had to know HOW legendary a figure he was, he really could care less lol. NOTHING contrived that emanated from that man. Like the saying goes, "they don't make 'em like that anymore" REALLY applies to Newman. And as far as I've read and heard about him, he never once strayed from his looooongtime wife (Joanne Woodward), despite obviously being one of the most handsome Hollywood actors ever. RIP to a TRULY GREAT man.
“The original king of cool” My father was a restaurant owner in the 70s 80s and he used a racing theme. He had best burgers on East side! Well he met Paul on a race track one day as my Dads business partner was actually a race car driver named Bill Freeman. My dad had lunch with Newman!
That's cool your dad had lunch with Newman. My drunk little brother Andy gave Paul Newman a hug at Indianapolis motor Speedway years ago. Damn I wish my mom could have. She loved him
I met Mr. Newman at Indy in 1994. Love his movies: Cool Hand Luke, The Sting, Hustler and my personal fav The Color of Money. That being said, he’s an even better car guy. Talked to him about Nigel & Michael’s chances in the 500, he talked more than I could’ve hoped for. Completely forgot he was an actor. A true racer by any means

I bumped into Paul a few times over 30 years in Connecticut...talked of Corvettes, Porsches, Newman's Own, and watermelon. Always fine as long as you treated him as just another guy. But, let the record show, he was not just another guy. Look how many admired and miss him. Me, too.
I ran into him behind the Westport library when I was 16 years old. I was driving my 1969 Z/28 and he actually questioned me on a few of the unique items on the car, the first being it’s lack of mufflers.
I came here because my son born in 2005 LOVED him in CARS as “ Doc Hudson” …. And i recently discovered I’m in love with his products Newman own! Which I had no idea who he was until the movie cars…. This man is a legendary and deserves all the praise.

Paul Newman's amazing. Gave so much to charity, seems like one of the most approachable guys in Hollywood and, oh, also happens to be one of the greatest actors ever.
Its funny coz they were saying the same thing in the 50s: Cary Grant, Bogart, Kelly etc were calling Brando, Newman , James Dean trash. Then Newman etc said it about the new guys. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
A truly class act. Generous beyond belief, a good racecar driver, a hell of a director, actor, and a wonderful family man who unfortunately had his fair share of tragedy. I'm lucky to have been in the world at the same time as him.

*"Hombre"* is Paul Newman's finest movie, in my opinion. Fantastic human being. His interview by James Lipton on *"Inside the Actor's Studio"* showcased just how humble of a man he was; by never taking himself too seriously; by being willing to laugh at himself as well as having a wicked sense of humor; and by always maintaining a sense of how fortunate he was to have been blessed by God with incredible good looks, a decent physique, a well modulated and pleasing voice, and the necessary talent to excel as a good husband and father; as an actor, as a very successful businessman, and as a semi-professional race car driver.
He was a good man. I met him and his wife once where I was working and he wouldn’t even sign an autograph for me….later I heard Barbara Walters do an interview with him and he told her he doesn’t sign autographs….humble man.
My daughter & I sat in that race car. He actually gave her the four leaf clover off his dash, it has served her well. He was and still is my favorite. What a genuine man and married to a lovely lady
Whenever I hear Newman's name or see him in a movie I always think of his amazing role as John Rooney and his death scene in the rain in The Road To Perdition. It was a tremendously powerful performance he gave.
Newman is a very good interviewee, sharp witted in a good sense and worth listening to. Contrary to many people's view, I've always liked Jay who knows how to keep a conversation light-hearted
My neighbor owned one of his 1970 racing Corvettes. I sat in it when I was 16 in downtown San Mateo. A train passed by about 15 feet away when the car was starting up and I couldn’t hear it. Loudest thing I’ve ever heard. Then I got to take a lap at Laguna Seca. It was pretty cool.
My husband had an uncle that looked amazingly like Paul Newman he wasn't an actor he was a regular blue-collar worker however - he was both in the Marines and the army during World War II so he was a hero to me anyway
My father looked exactly like Cale Yarborough the nascar driver. He finally just started signing autographs. Some people out there think they got cales autograph. Lol
I'll never forget the scene in the movie "Winning" when Paul Newman was playing a racing team member of Robert Wagner and returned to his motel room to catch his wife, literally, in bed with Wagner. As Paul unlocked and opened the motel room door into this incredible scene, the audience was expecting to see Paul beat the crap out of Wagner. The entire movie theater was frozen awaiting the fight scene, but in true Paul Newman cool he quietly turned around and.after closing the door he walked slowly to his car in the parking lot. Deep, deep into dazed thought he attempted to climb into his personal Thunderbird through the window with out opening the door as do race car drivers entering into their race cars. Only banning his head on the cars post brought him back into reality..... I though that was the absolute coolest thing a guy could do because had he started to beat Wagner up his wife, as they do, would have jumped on his back and try and pull him of fof her lover. That could have only made things much worse to an already destroyed ego. I was just in high school when I saw Winning and years later as life would have it, I too caught my wife as Paul did his in the movie. I'm no Paul Newman but for one moment, I too, in real life turned and walked away and was somehow a bit as cool as Paul Newman.
Yeah, you can't beat the joys of finding your woman in the arms of another man so you can discover you have the same level of coolness as the mighty Newman!🤔
He’s one of those people you just can’t take your eyes off. And then he talks, and he’s incredibly intelligent and witty… they don’t make them like that anymore.

What class. They don't make 'em like him anymore.
I'm a big fan of Jay so much so it's great to see Paul on the show with him.
Pretty animated here.Along with Nicholson, probably the best actors from the 60s to the 90s.
Paul Newman was one of the handsomest actors ever.
Just watched Slapshot the other day .... a classic
Paul. Really seems like a pretty down to Earth guy , despite all of his success and wealth Plus he appears to be living a fun life
He is such a cool humble kind man that never let fame get the better of him
Lovely Paul, honest, decent, not spoiled by his fame, family man, very rare, unlike the "I love me" so called it people we have to endure in the 80's.
I love how he didnt know he broke the guiness world record. He was too cool. 😂
