  • There is nothing more important than protecting your family. André and Mariale just put their one-year-old son down for a nap after lunch when the CO alarm went off and triggered their Ring Alarm. They didn't know what to do, but thanks to their 24/7 professional monitoring subscription, the fire department was dispatched within 60 seconds. The firefighters arrived quickly and discovered dangerous levels of carbon monoxide throughout the house from a faulty gas fireplace in the basement.
    “We were very thankful that we had the Ring system, that they called the fire department for us,” André says. “This is very serious. We could've died,” Mariale adds.

    We tested the battery in ours, literally Next day, it died.. my parents ran to the store unknowing about the battery. I stayed home, 14 at the time. I had started to feel sick, sitting in the living room, our border collie kept barking at me. So I let him out, and he’d turn right back to the door and bark. So I’d let him in.. we did this maybe 3 times before I finally went out with him and sat on the deck. He sat face to face with me till my parents got home. I had thrown up 7 times at that point. They sent me to lay down, a little while later my dad found the furnace had backfired, and had been putting carbon monoxide into the house. I just remember my mom running in the room yelling for me to get up, and she took me to the hospital. My levels were still way above safe. If it wasn’t for our dog, Idk what would have happened. Also the fact he didn’t go outside just for himself, he made sure I went too. He was a good boy, miss him a lot.

      Wow, that's so scary!! I'm relieved for you that you had a happy ending, on that day at least. Dogs are the best creation that God ever made. I'm sorry for loss of your sweet pup. I'm certain, though, that they never completely leave us & will be waiting to guide us home, when our time on this planet is over. I really hope so, anyway. Knowing that we will see them again someday, would make that loss so much more bearable. 💔😢

    My best friend passed away 10 years ago from this.. And it happened a little different. A guy parked in the garage of their apartments and he didn't realize he left his car running that's how tired he was. And it went through the whole Apartment building and a few hours after somebody smelt fumes and started beating on apartments. My best friend was the only one that died she was only 23 years old. And she died two days after I had my middle daughter. She called me and said "she couldn't wait to meet her" ! And two days later she was gone. Please get an alarm. R.I.H Becky💞🕊️! I hope this helps! I'm so happy this family is safe🙏🏿

    This happened to my fam. My mom had woken up all of a sudden and had this weird uncertainty so she began to pray +read bible. She felt something was wrong because the alarm kept beeping. She kept telling my dad (her husband) that they should call 911 but he said to go back to sleep because it was just the batteries. She stuck to her gut and called 911. She woke us all up and we all went outside, it was really early around 6 am. The firefighters came and they confirmed it was the CO alarm. I thank god she listened to her gut feeling, or we wouldn’t be here today.

    The silent killer as they call it!
    About 2 years ago, my pet house rabbit became very lethargic, not eating or drinking, then me noticing her litter tray was empty, so not having any bowel or bladder movements. Took her to the vet, they couldnt find anything wrong with her. They were puzzled but told me to see how she gets on. Then my cat started to be sick and refused to come in the house. She loves her food but also loves being out, however, she wouldnt come in at all for her food. It was odd, but didn't think past that. Then my son, 8yr old at the time, started complaining of headaches over the next few days, then I started with them. Both felt lethargic in the house and wanted to sleep or lay and watch TV. However when at work and he at school, we seemed to get our energy levels back. Still not putting all the issues together, we just carried on. Then my sons friend came for a sleep over and didn't feel great by the evening time. The next day, my friend called me and asked if I had a carbon monoxide meter.....I didn't!! She expressed her concerns after the thought came to her. Anyway, I called the Gas supplier, explained how we'd been and they told us to open all windows and doors and get out of the house until they arrived. They came, did a Check and found a leak at my boiler. It was a slow leak but obviously the monoxide was building up inside the house gradually, poisoning us, slowly but surely. I'm so glad my friend thought of this and called. I'm grateful for the gas engineers help. Like I say, i now have a meter but my stupidity of not having one, could have led to unthinkable consequences.

    The was a case in Huddersfield where a boy died in his bed because the house next door had a CO leak,the gas can seep through certain types of wall. I live in a terraced house and had a note put through my door about a leak next door to see if my detector went off. Phoned them up to say I don't have any gas appliances and no detector,he suggested I should think about getting one for that reason.

  • @rickymcintosh2429
    @rickymcintosh2429 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    First thing you want to do in a situation like this is leave the premise immediately. Most people want to call their gas provider, but the gas company can only take care of NATURAL gas which would have a rotten egg smell. CO has no odor and is usually due to a problem with a gas appliance. Since gas companies are not furnace or gas appliance repair people, they would need to call a certified repair person. All gas companies can do is turn the gas off.

      I don't understand why they can't add a smell to the gas. They add color and smell to gasoline as a safety measure, why can't they do it for the gas they feed to homes? I know liquids and gas are vastly different, but w/ all the technology we have today, there has to be a way.

FD was like you do have a Carbon Monxide, 70 Parts Per million, They proceeded to Vent Our Residence, and called for a 2nd Crew to assist with Venting. Ended up Being the Stove/Oven. Without That Carbon Monxide alarm that Complex Management installed during last Inspection, and thankfully its Kidde Talking One that said (Warning Carbon Monxide) we wouldn't even known it was releasing dangerous Carbon Monxide Levels

      @VioletDragonborn. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s separate from the usual fire/smoke: CO detectors. Once the ring add-on detects the sound and you have professional monitoring, the call center gets alerted and contacts you. Then they can call the local fire/police/emergency services.

    Why’s the nest co2 alarm going on code 3? That’s usually for fires.

    There are CO detectors you can buy at a hardware store. Just change the batteries every so often

    Apple needs to take notes, this is how you show your product saving people without trying to scare them into buying one, Apple on the other hand went “let’s play audio of 911 calls to try to scare people into buying an Apple Watch”

    Do people pay extra for the carbon monitoring subscriptions??? or this comes with the Ring when we purchased it. Thank you!!

      That's a great question, neighbor. The Ring Alarm Smoke and CO Listener sends you real-time mobile alerts whenever it hears sirens from smoke or CO alarms in your home. If you would like professional monitoring with your Ring Alarm devices to contact your emergency contacts and request emergency dispatch to the authorities, you will need to purchase a Ring Protect Pro Plan. You can learn more about this here: ring.com/protect-plans. We're here to help if you have other questions.

    The only reason I got Ring, was because before we got the cameras, my dad accidentally left the garage door open, and someone had stole our snowblower. So we got the cameras to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Sadly we couldn’t find the snowblower. I miss it a lot. Edit: We didn't get ring alarm, we got the cameras
