    This soft hackle method may be my go-to tie in style from now on due to the precise measurement and clean finish. truly an artist.

    Great technique for getting the partridge collar the correct length. Easiest and best I've seen! Thanks!!

    Easily my favorite nymph, I use it all the time with great results. I use Asian Kingfisher for the wing case but the silver doctor blue feather is a nice sub, you could also use silver doc floss which I think Atherton did upon occasion, I would have to look in his book. I highly recommend his book, he was an artist and tier ahead of his time.

    Nice fly..Great Hackle tip! My dad taught me lots of bird identification while fishing. Kingfishers, Blue and Green Herons, Osprey, Eagles, Red tail Hawks, they all bring back memories of him..it’s a great connection! Thank you for sharing that..and thanks for All your Great videos! 🦅 🎣

    Very nice pattern. Haven't seen this method of tying in the partridge hackle before but it looks ultra-durable. I would also love to get one of those Sally Hansen long-nosed applicator bottles. If you could point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative. Thanks from down-under in NZ.

    Tim Holy Crap! When my Buddy Les Shannon owned the Shop I went in The Shop prior to Fishing The Gorge to say Hello, Drink Coffee, chew the fat, Fan find out what was active on the water. He said Hendericksons are active and coming off. I asked to see his version of a NYMPH. He brought out his version of Art Flick's Henderickson Nymph. I said Les a BLUE wing case? Yep that's the way he tied it! Okay then. Now I see this. WOW! I was Honored to be one of the few that Les got along with. If You knew him and he didn't like you you weren't in The Shop long! I used to tell him" Your Flies work so well because they all smell like Cigarettes! " R.I.P. Les You were one of a kind! By the way he used to Tie up Beautiful Versions of a Hellgrammite. That pattern seemed to work in The Gorge when all else failed. Maybe you could find huis Makings and do one? Thanks Tom Puzio

      Wapsi has a plastic applicator bottle like this. You can find it for sale at several places on the Internet.

    im new to the tying game, do you have special thread or is there a way to get thread to unwind and come off flat like yours does?

    • @marcod591
      @marcod591 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most fly tying threads will lay flat or corded. You can control this by spinning the bobbin clockwise and counterclockwise. You’ll see Tim do this on some videos if you watch enough. If I remember right, his favorite thread is a brand called UTC for exactly this property of being able to both flatten or cord it up for different purposes. Hope that helps.

    Atherton may call it his #2, but if I came up with this one today, I don't think I'd get away with calling it anything other than a hotspot soft hackle hare's ear. Bet it fishes great.
