No I didn't leave the key in the battery, I left it in the house after putting the battery on the bike.
The Super73 ZX is very punchy and gets up to its 28mph top speed very quickly. Unfortunately, my battery decided to eject from the frame on the maiden voyage. Luckily, we are dealing with Super73 and when you buy one of these bikes, you also get their fantastic customer support!

Tough break on the maiden voyage. Could have been several things, like a defective lock pin or lock mechanism. Props to Super73 for going above and beyond on the response.

Having swapped battery packs on S2's and R's I am 99.9% positive mine was locked on correctly. I'll be securing the new one with an extra ziptie or strap just to be safe since I ride on Cali streets.
Probs to super 73 for checking your bike out completely and give you a new one. Maybe it’s a Minor thing on your bike and they know you need to replace the whole battery case holder thing too but it could be a design failure they already know. So I guess they wanna see your bike themselves. Great attitude of a company to just replace it and get a look at the Situation. Greets from Germany

@@star-k I really consider buying a ZX but the eu version comes without throttle is much more expensive compared to the us price and it will not be as fun riding it here in Germany. Man I wish I could move to California, loved it there. I wish you lots of fun riding it. At least you will ride it sooner than later but I know how the frustration was when the battery dropped. But the feeling riding it after struggle is even greater. But I know myself I would strap the battery now. Somehow make it fail safe. The trust would be gone. To be honest I was wondering when someone would upload a vid of the battery falling of. I did not trust the heave pack in a hanging layout. A slide cage or whatever straps, but I guess they tested it and yours is one in 500? 1000? Guess that’s what they want to figure out. Can that happen to all zx? Hope not, but if I and that could happen buy one I will strap the battery. But out of all the super73 the zx is my favorite. Weight, price, style and porpoise wise. Off course the RX is the top of their bikes but price? And if I would live in California I would get a onyx pcr or a real motorcycle but this is a different thing. I want a bmx cruiser like the ZX, I really like it for what it is. Have fun and good luck it arrives soon.
Same thing happen to me, super73 told me on the zx model you don't need to lock the battery in with the key only use thr key when taking it off. When putting the battery on as soon as you slide it in you should hear a "click" which means it's locked in
Well, just lock it and take the key out. Simple solution. What happened was the key was jiggled loose from the bumps until that last one sent it flying.
The key was not in the battery. You don't need to leave the key in a super73 it's just to remove the battery. Same with most Ebikes, when I say I locked it and left the key inside I meant inside my house.

These packs were NEVER designed to be mounted upside down. The case will flex and pop out, its just tiny small tabs holding it on.
He need to use tight bungee cords around the battery it is a badly built mount

Close, but a little south. The bike is fantastic, just ensure that your battery is secure to the best of your ability. I'm sure mine was a one off and the way that super73 is handling it is above and beyond what most would do. 🤙

Just took mine for a ride all ran perfect on and off side walk didn't go easy on it by any means and no issues...

How far are you from Irvine? It would have been better if they sent you a new one, and the company that shipped it to you would pick up your damaged one...kind of like when you buy a new washer and dryer...they come deliver your new one, and take away the old one. This would be better, especially if you don't live in Cali. Anyway, can't wait to see your review. From the hill going up to your house, it looks pretty steep and the bike went up it pretty easily...I don't know if you had it or you were feather-touching the throttle to make sure the battery didn't fall out again, but I can't wait to find out. I'm debating on buying this, or waiting when the S2 comes back into stock. I like the looks of the ZX way more than the S2.
I am about 50 minutes from Irvine in light traffic so this is faster honestly. The ZX looks great however the S2 has more top end speed so they are two different beast for sure! I can't wait to get my hands on the new bike to make a review for you guys! It easily could have launched up that hill with no issues though, I was definitely feathering to make sure the battery didn't drop again.

The bike is fantastic and definitely packs a punch. I wish I had gotten to a point where I could've actually started to give it a review before this happened. It did make me laugh when I hit the throttle for the first time though! That was on video at least. Can't wait to have my replacement.
I think the battery on top like the s2 might be a better design
but it looks goofy AF with that fake motorbike gas tank
It makes the bike badly balanced. The battery should be on the downtube. Or better still, on a shelf above the bottom bracket. This would give better balance and also make it easier for the battery clamp to do it’s job.

Yes I would say it's perfectly adequate for most towns with average hills.

If I'm understanding this correctly, then my answer would be no.
are you not suppose to lock it with a key after you mount on the battery?
No you can place the battery on the bike without the key and it will automatically lock in place with a click. The key is required to remove the battery, usually. 😅
Do you know what the button on the battery does?

Flx or juice bikes have great ebike quality. Unfortunately this bike is only good in the looks category. I bet that old bike gets resold to another buyer.
I’d be nervous every time I rode the bike after that. As someone here said may be up to something that batteries aren’t meant to be installed upside down? I’m no engineer but?
I'm not entirely sure what happened but I am sure Super73 did testing prior to the release. Mine may have just had a flaw as there are way more out there that just work than those with batteries falling off. But I am super grateful mine is getting taken care of.
