Interesting we were talking about variety being the spice of life in the previous video, and then this drops! What an amazing left field rig! And a ripper with that HW 8IGHT! As you say, probably not the typical thing to get, but more of a "rare occasion" rig that those days it comes out it becomes a total experience for its unconventional combination of large scale, scale design, mechanical features and mild bashing capabilities! With the scale design of the suspension, tons of attention to detail and care on the details, its such a cool thing to just look at, both on the shelf and on the drive! Look at that suspension cycling on the onboard camera! Hypnotizing! Love living the first drive and ownership experience vicariously through you! Cheers, Craig!!
2:09 tomley does that too, compares different vehicles to gauge how "scale" it is. A desert racer will be a different wheelbase than a 4 door SUV and a 4 door SUV will have a different wheelbase than a small or even full sized pickup. So to be "accurate" you should compare the same type of vehicle to each other.
@@RCTNT Nothing wrong with that but have to take it with a grain of salt. If I remember, tomley's was even more blatant, he was comparing a small jimny suzuki samarai mini SUV to a full sized C/K pickup. "dude, in the real world the samarai could fit into the bed of the chev pickup" lol
Well yes. Like we've discussed before, in RC there are two approaches manufacturers take, and there's no clear convention on how to determine which they've taken until you compare the 1:1 model with the scale one. The first method is true scale. If it's a 1/10, everything should be about a tenth the size of the real thing. But more commonly, it seems there's a roughly established size for things and they'll build so you can run this 1/10 with that 1/10, meaning your Element Bushido and your SCX10.3 Gladiator are roughly the same size, being on either side of the fairly typical 1/10 wheelbase of 313mm. With these things in mind, my aim is really to give a practical idea of the thing's dimensions more than a critique of the manufacturer's idea of scale and technical accuracy.
The quality is there. And they have their own unique designs, which means with their modern vehicles, whatever one you like best is going to be a decent rig.
@@RCTNT Ah I see crossed wires lol, yeah they did a great job on it, looks just like it, not sure what he thinks about them copying his truck, wonder if he has one? lol
That's a Cool one, I would love to see the Ecto 12 on your problems, ive only added 108 mm injora SuperSwampers, Deep dish steel wheels for a bit more width, and a Metalgear servo, because the stock servo is not good, its a little beast now for cheap 😊
I have the XT4 and the Demon SG4C and they are great trucks albeit a bit niche. The Demon has been trouble free but I had challenges with the XT4 diff locks for a while before sorting it out.
The Demon is from 'old' Cross RC. The XT4 is a early model in 'new' Cross RC, with their more plastic oriented design and, IMO, greater variety and durability. The Demon is more like the military trucks, I guess. In any case, there's a lot of high quality choice from this company.
What an awesome looking bit of kit that is.!! 👍 👍 👍 It seems to perform as well as it looks too, I'm happy to see you've fitted the new Hobbywing 8ight system too, I've got a Fusion SE & I'm extremely impressed with it but it's strictly a 1/10th motor, it's not really up to powering my larger, heavier 1/8th scale rigs (at least not with my driving😉) because it just gets too hot.! The 8ight system is around £140 here in the UK & I'd say that's fair enough.... It's definitely made it onto my list.! 😉 😉 Thank you once again for another thoroughly informative & useful review video, I'm looking forward to seeing what else you do with it & how it holds up over time. Kinda of a small 1/7 but 1/8 is a sweet spot for me. Sort of a weight vs breakage and running area can bet a bit smaller than with the really big ones. Crawlers are more forgiving in the size of space catagory just need bigger rocks.😅
This looks to fill a similar niche that the Axial RBX10 Ryfy is going for.... Would be interesting to see a comparision between the two. Personally I think the lockable diffs and the added attention to scale details on the Cross make it the better of the two.
I'm interested to see the FMS one. The Yikong DB7 looks similar to the FMS and I wonder about that. I'll have the Yikong delivered here shortly, so that'll be interesting to see more closely!

Yeah, I was surprised at how well my Fusion SE modulates at super slow speed even when highly geared & in second gear.! I ran into trouble with the gear change on my RGT Rescuer, it became really sticky & wouldn't change even with an upgraded servo so I just thought "Bugger it, I'll just run it in second gear" but my brushed motor/ESC kept getting super hot & it was useless at slow speeds.. So I decided to get a Fusion SE to see what it could do with the rig in second.. I fully intended to fix the gearshift.... But the Fusion worked so well in second gear that I've still not repaired it a year later.! 😂 😂 😁😁
Heh fair enough. Though a drop of light machine oil on the shift shaft that goes into the transmission could be all it takes to address that. Regardless, FOC is endlessly impressive, innit?

Not sure if it was on here i made this comment, but this looks like everything the Axial Yeti should now be, if Axial hadnt discontinued it! To the point where i now have 2 servo savers running on it!! Id love to be able to take it out and run it like this, so im considering turning it into a crawler instead, as i think its the weight of the car, and the weight of the wheels are putting so much pressure on the servo horn, thats the issue. Id consider swapping, what is a very expensive car (in the cost of the larts!) for ine of these, just to be able to use it! Just goes to show, bling isnt always better! 🤷🏻♂️
