Chorus:
Broken the paradigm, an example must be set
Invoke the siren's song and sign the death warrant
This is what has been wrought for 30 pieces of silver
The tongues of men and angels bought by a beloved betrayer
I am the result, what's better left unspoken
Violence begins to mend what was broken
You've been talking, I've been all ears

Who's still rocking Omerta in 2024?
Coming here to cross my own valley of death
Right here brotha 🤘🔥.

One day this album will be considered classic metal. Ashes of the wake is really there best work.
100% agree. Every single song is pure American metal. They have amazing consecutive albums, but it doesn't get any more pure than Ashes.
Definitely. Their most best selling album
By far!
I study music, mainly jazz but i love this album not only because it‘s brutal, heavy, deep and groovy af but also very well aranged and so creative. It’s a perfect masterpiece
@@henrireichmann7595 the older I get the less chops and technical playing impresses me. It's all about the song writing and arrangement.
A radio station here in Tampa used to do this charity thing where you could donate money and they'd play whatever you wanted on air, some dude donated (insert money amount here) and brought in a burn the priest demo and had them play the whole thing....fucking amazing moment for me as I had just recently discovered lamb of God....that was many moons ago now kimosabi but I'll never forget it
This is one of the coolest stories I've ever read🤘🏻Thanks for sharing!
Hell yea. Dude was a fucking legend 💪🏽

Same thing for Lansing Michigan. You could literally play anything and some people put in their own band's songs, I put in Black Label, Contractor, and a couple of other mosh pit hits from LoG
THANKS TO MY DAD FOR MAKING ME LISTEN TO THIS SINCE I WAS 6!!!!!
Sounds kinda fucked my dad had me listing to the same thing at the same time ha

Omerta - (among the Mafia) a code of silence about criminal activity and a refusal to give evidence to the police.
"Keep your mouth shut, don't rat on your friends." -Goodfellas

It is not just about keeping silent. It is also about taking the matter into your own hands if something happens to you.
This is explained in the beginning of the song
18 years later this song is still a banger 🤘🤘🤘
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward
Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both
For a wounded man shall say to his assailant
"If I live, I will kill you. If I die, You are forgiven."

You've been talking, I've been all ears
Words meant to dwell in darkness shall never see the light of day
Words can be broken, so can bones
Execute the mandate
Mouth full of dirt, your name is removed from the registry
St. Peter greets with empty eyes then turns and locks the gate
I am the result what's better left unspoken
Violence begins to mend what was broken
You've been talking, I've been all ears
Omerta
Cheaply venal, stupidly verbose
A slip of the tongue, a slit of the throat
Six feet under with no marker
Keep my name from your mouth forever
Free speech for the living, dead men tell no tales
Your laughing finger will never point again

Pretty much the most metal thing ever said.
Finally after years of listening, i am able to see these guys this year im so fucking hyped.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I saw them live once and it was absolutely amazing! 👹🤘🏻
I got to meet randy blythe at a record store in Virginia Beach and see him play with his side project halo of locusts and I was like less than 5 feet from him when he played and it was bad ass
Seen them twice this year. Hearing this song live is one of the coolest things. 1 of the few metal bands that are way better live
Saw them in Boston for the 5th time absolutely amazing
“Mouth full of dirt, your name is removed from the registry. Saint peter greets with empty eyes and turns and locks the gate”

"A slip of the tongue, a slit of the throat"
This has been my favourite line of this song's since I read the lyrics !! Not lying
Also "keep my name from your mouth forever, praise be for the living, dead men tell no tales your laughing finger will never point againnnnn"
The breakdown is so brutal
Gosh, the Guitar tone of this whole album is so epic and the special Chris Alder dual bass drums with click symbol sound.
Mark and willie for the win!

As cheesy as it is to say, still one of the best intros to any song ever. Right up there with songs like The Pot by Tool in terms of setting up a downright sick ass song
reminds me of the bill hicks joke in the beginning of third eye by tool.
lol i listened to the pot first, then this.. in order XD funny u say that
This two songs came me at the same period but The Pot came first )
Ashes of the wake is my favorite album!

Its a great song
The mental health crisis has carried wrath upon the head of man and God has been merciful to his children we still love we still live
Thank you Lamb of God, for all that you have said, screamed, and stood up for. I get it and I listen. I've always appreciated what you have had the courage to say and for WHEN you said it. Thanks
In my opinion, this is THE MOST metal song ever created.

violence begins to mend...what was broken
Don’t care what anyone says. This is one of the HARDEST songs of all time. 🤘🤘
Sean Strickland should make this his intro song.
He’d look like a bitch if he walked out to this and then got knocked out lol how he did against poaton, I went to like amateur mma fights as a kid one with my dad cause one of his buddy’s was fighting and he was fighting a dude that weighed 20 pounds more than him and he came out to mouth for war by Pantera all hyped and shit and he thought he was so hard and he went and got knocked out in 12 seconds lmao😂😂😂😂 his two stepsons were there
Still blows my mind how heavy this is and its only tuned to drop D
It's not the tuning it's what you do with the tuning.
Drop D is the heaviest tuning my guy. It doesn't matter how low you go. Drop D has the heaviest sound to it, always.
It hasn't gotta be Double Drop D to be heavy, heavy has little to do with the tuning. Even E Standard can be fucking heavy!

Sacrament is good too but this album is soo fuckin heavy and full of groove. The most emotional album for me, brings the goddamn vibe and adrenaline!! The best album so far!
Idk “As the Palaces Burn” has some damn good groovin riffs! First 3 albums forever. Nothing after compares. Production quality of their new stuff is amazing; songwriting, not so much.
I think wrath is easily their most brutal album in terms of lyrics and riffs. But then i don't have any childhood or teen memories of any albums. I started listening around resolution.
Ashes of the Leviathan here we go. I cant belive Im still rocking to this album even 20 years later. Keep rocking!
Going to that concert in August 🤘🤘
When the guitar comes in it’s like being hit in the face with a brick lmao love lamb of god, never disappoints. Such a fun song to play as well 😎
Yeah I noticed that the first time I heard it. Where'd that brick come from? Very clever riff writing
It's hard to call between this and as the palaces burn, but this is definitely some of their best work for sure.
Dude you stole my thoughts right out of my brain.... who sent you? Literally those two tracks are the absolute best.
The look you get when you’re blasting lamb of god at the stop light…..priceless 🤘
Love making the prudes feel uncomfortable. Super effective in North Georgia.
The fuckin intro goes hard
IM STILL ALIVE!!!
I feel young again listening to this . My fav album forsure.
I listen to this song at least 3 times a day! Still! Never ever gets old
Me too, it's the most played song on my phone haha

I used the opening of this as a basis for a narrative story in high school. I put the quote at the beginning and it got me and extra 5 points. Shout out to my English teachers metal head husband who helped grade!
I broke my nose seeing these guys in Tampa like a million years ago.
One of the best concerts I have ever been to!!!
Rarely a day goes by when I don't think about the opening lines here. They legitimately changed my outlook on living and protecting myself, and chances are I'm taking them all the way to the grave, one day.
They shouldn't have, Omerta was a coercive tool, under the guise of a code of honor, used by the Italian mafia to maintain social power.
This is beyond, "snitches get stiches", the mafia knew the locals couldn't go against them.
