Wonder if anyone can answer this - on the video at 8:59, there's a stone tablet. What language is it written in? I can't enlarge the image. It sort of looks like Hebrew. Is that even possible?

I am a citizen of Bergama and this place is about 500 meters from my home. The video mentions Asclepion while showing this place. But in fact this is not Asclepion. It is the Red Hall and the cylindrical building is the Basilica which was one of the seven earliest churches in the world. About yr question, yes the inscription on that tablet may be Hebrew because Jews also lived in Bergama, and this place is next to the Jewish quarter of the town.

Yea the ancient greek culture is amazing but when they became orthodox christian who cares they took the marbles to build churches and for their homes...if Germans didnt take it to Berlin then Turks use it for building their homes and mosques maybe God save Greek culture this way

Appreciate this video. However, Pergamon did not have a Temple of Zeus. The so called “Alter of Zeus” is a contemporary name for it. This was not its actual name. This alter rested beneath the feet of the Temple of Athena. Zeus and his daughter Athena are among the prominent figures carved into this alter along with all the other Panhellenic gods. To say Jesus called Pergamon the throne of Satan because of this alter is total conjecture. This is the verse you base this conjecture from: “I know where you live, where the throne of Satan sits. Yet you have held fast to My name and have not denied your faith in Me, even in the day when My faithful witness Antipas was killed among you, where Satan dwells.” Rev.2:13 BSB. An alter is not a throne. Jesus calls Satan a deceiver, slanderer, accuser of the believers, and a murderer. If we read this verse in the context of the letter it’s for more likely Jesus is calling the The Church of Pergamon the place where Satan dwells because they are tolerating the teachings of Nicolaitans within their community. The Nicolaitans were spiritually marrying Christ’s teachings with the Greek false gods and emperor worship in order to avoid persecution. This is what got Antipas killed. He refused to accommodate the Nicolaitans. They probably outed him to the local authorities in order to save themselves. In this way they were the accusers (Satan is the accuser)
of Antipas. They acted on God’s behalf and caused his death. This is the throne upon which the Accuser sits. A throne of accusation, slander, and murder. This throne and Satan’s dwelling can exist anywhere and in any rebellious church, not just Pergamon.

Pergamon was a hellinistic metropool. Belongs not to the Turkish cultural inheritance. The temple of Zeus stood on a hill, a magnificent citadel. The complete temple has been moved, and rebuild in Berlin. Yes, the best archaeological parts stands in Germany ! So....
