    A few things after owning one. They think they are people, shh, don't tell them. They will expect to be with you every minute of the day you're home. Super smart and emotional. Please don't get one if you will leave it at home while you go to work. They will make you a happier person.

    Vizslas are probably the most evolved breed in the world, along with Dobermans. My father lived with a judge & his wife in grad school in Georgetown and we stayed tight with them for a long time, they had 2 Vizslas. Both of them were extremely intelligent & perceptive. I remember we were in the Adirondacks in NY with them and I got stung by a yellow jacket when I was 10 or 11 - I was visibly upset - when Reddy (the older male) ran over and sat with me to make sure I was OK while looking in his eyes he knew something was wrong. I'll never forget that. He was there for me to make me feel secure & better. They're the best.

    My Dad was a hunter and one day he came home with a puppy, a Hungarian Vizsla. She was one of the best. We always had a dog and a cat. But Goldie stands out in my mind. I was a young teenager and Goldie was a constant companion. She playful, affectionate, and a good hunter. It's been a long time since she's been gone, but I still remember her with love. RIP Golldie.

    About the name: although the name Vizsla only refer to the dog breed, but the name does have a connotation. The verb "Vizsgál" in hungarian means to examine or investigate something. "Vizslat" is a much less used verb, but it has the meaning of persistently looking for or examining something. So Vizsla has a connotation of a "persistent examiner". Thats just my feeling, I am not linguist :)

    Vizslas are basically cartoon dogs. They are the best dogs you’ll meet, but separation anxiety is a real problem. People often say getting two is actually easier than one, even if you’re home all day.

    • @primesspct2
      @primesspct2 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would have to vary from individual to individual. Weimaraners are also known to have extreme separation anxiety. My girl who is actually a "Goldmaraner"., apparently this is one of the newest designer breeds.
      She like the Vizsla must get an hour of running in a day. She does require a lot of mental stimulation as well.
      For the separation anxiety , I started off very small, I would put her in her area with a chewy treat, Leave the house , give it 5 minutes ( its all I could handle at first she cried so.) and then popped in and let her out. I did this every other day eventually extending the times to several hours. Now Its not a problem at all.
      Times like this is when a good tough chewy is going to keep them busy, and chewing is a natural pacifier to pups,

    Got so lucky and found my beautiful 2 year old vizsla at the shelter. P.S. we live in an apartment and he is doing just fine. We take him out for at least 4 walks a day and let him run in open grassy spaces as much as possible.

    • @primesspct2
      @primesspct2 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats all they need! My dog is very athletic, smart and quite honestly she looks much like the Vizsla, in all but color! But I take her out for a long run at least once a day and I try to do it twice a day, She;s a happy camper!

    My background: I have a vizsla and I am from Hungary so I see them every day - fortunately a very common dog breed here, and lately growing popular also worldwide.
    I have 2 comments: 1. Your vizsla will drive you crazy if you only give him 60 minutes of exercise daily. Even your puppy will drive you crazy with such a low amount. They are EXTREMELY active, I would say 3 hours activity is a minimum - daily - but it is best if you can find some doggy friends / daycare and then they tire out each other. At 2:25 and 5:40 that is not a vizsla, more like a vizsla labrador mix - that dog is too robust to fit any vizsla breed description. Thy are always lean and fast.
    Oh yeah and they will invade your personal space constantly so keeping them separate from your living area is nearly impossible and not a sensible thing to do. (if you do not pay enough attention they will find something to entertain themselves)

    • @bencearadi9065
      @bencearadi9065 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@DanTheMan-xg8qb it might after some build up - many people do it - but if you leave a vizsla for 8+ hours he/she will likely find entertainment in the garden or in your living room which won’t make you happy when you get home. We are training at every meal time (mental stimulus) plus have the big walk in the afternoon and shorter session int the morning. Our system is 2 days daycare per week plus dog school or big trip in the weekend and our dog is inside so we keep each other company. Btw she brought 2 different toys to me while writing this post, seeking my attention :D

    I am Hungarian and my grandfather had a Vizsla back in the 80s. We both were small kids and grew together. My grandfather lived a 3 hours drive from my parents to I rarely saw them but when I would turn up she went nuts. We were best friends. She was the best hunting dog in the neighbourhood. Trainable, very sensitive and loving animal. Ridiculously intelligent and beautiful. I cannot imagine a better combo of skills. The only downside is its energy... Getting a Vizsla is not getting a dog but changing Lifestyle... You have to put in the energy to enjoy a life with a Vizsla but it pays of well.

  • @gaborenyedi637
    @gaborenyedi637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm not sure that you have ever seen s vizsla by person.
    1. Even if vizslas can run a lot, they can live in flats. I know many of the living in that way. It's not ideal, but the most important for a vizsla is to have company, mostly a human, but they can tolerate being alone at home very well, if there is another dog. For vizslas, living outside without humans is worse than living in a small flat close to the owner (and many walks). Let them in the house to be together (actually that's a good idea for any dog).
    2. You should supervise the interaction between a vizsla and a small child, since this is an active dog, and it may happen that the small child is pushed or even trampled by the dog, but there is completely no intention to hurt the child. I think, the interaction is riskier for the dog, it has more chance that the small child bites the dog than in the opposite way.
    3. The healthiness of the dog highly depends on the breeder, much more than the breed. Some breeds may have some well-known illnesses, but good breeders know them much better than you or anyone from youtube and remove the failed genes from the line. Find a good breeder, pay the high price (it will be expensive!) and you don't need to be afraid of health issues of the breed.

Think that marriages mostly split after 2 years, so think if u get one. 1500-2000 is the price from a breeder in a excepted club, that shows u the generations of both sides way back without illnesses. I wouldn’t buy one for 700 and get a sick dog, u may get a mix vizlsa for free, and they r also mostly healthy.
