Not-so-fun fact about Celeste’s execution: She wanted to be unique more than anything else, which is why she was smiling as she got burnt alive, because it’s a unique death, but Monokuma decided to throw one last dose of despair her way, and had her get run over by a fire truck. Getting run over by a car is one of, if not THE MOST COMMON way to die.
I think it's more about the "aesthetic" of hers than her death being unique. Celeste is all about dark, gothic aesthetics (girl literally wanted harem of vampire butlers), and being burned alive like a witch fits her ideal aesthetics. So she takes her execution gladly if it's serene and "elegant" like that, but alas, Monokuma ruins it to mock her and give her final taste of despair of not being able to die elegantly like gothic witch, but by car like common folk.

The point of the executions is to draw out despair in the executed. For instance my favorite execution was Celestes. Celeste wanted everything in her life to be gothic, beautiful, and over the top. So her execution is arguably one of the most dramatic and over the top executions throughout history, but what actually kills her is one of the most common ways to die in the modern world. Snatching the dignity away from Celeste probably made her feel the greatest despair she's probably ever felt and then she just dies. Leon was another good one. He HATED his talent so imagine how he felt when it killed him.
And in the FTEs Leon starts liking his talent, so imagine finally coming to terms with the talent you're given and giving up on a dream(music) due to lack of ability, and then that talent you have is used to kill you in a brutal way in front of everyone directly after you were exposed as a murderer.
yh, i think in danganronpaV3 (*spoilers*) kaede's execution was the best since Der Flohwalzer is a common 1st song for Japanese children to play, but in Kaede's execution, they did it on black keys to resemble that she's the blackened. also, since the mastermind knows what they say, the mastermind heard Shuichi say 'i would love to hear you play in a concert!' (or something like that) and so they made Shuichi watch Kaede perform her 1st song to him, but also her last. (also how dam long the execution went on for, apparently 9 hours!)
Conversely, I do get a bit annoyed how many playthroughs get spear-headed with 11037 being a recurring joke. Comedy is fine, but jokes get worse the more you repeat them, not better. I've seen people meme it through every game in the series, and I can only hope that any future playthroughs don't get their jokes overlooked because of one awkward writing moment in the first game.
It's not awkward writing. It just worked for the original inteded audience, japanese people, much better. And localization didn't bother to come up with something witty to make it less dodgy for western audiences.

This. People kind of downplay how well DR1 sets atmosphere. That was something I really enjoyed when I played it that I didn't feel in the same way when playing the other games. Like DR1 makes you feel trapped in this dystopian murder fest that you kind of just grow numb to seeing as the playthrough goes on. Very psychologically on point for what it's trying to achieve as your brain spins trying to solve these murders and convict culprits to their doom in this never ending spiral. Psychopop horror is really hard to pull off, and this game does it really well. Mechanically, it is much worse than the other games mostly due to the difference in their resources/experience as a team and year it was created, but if it was created at the same development level as the others it would be incredible. Also, the murders in this game are painfully easy to solve except for like the last two (The 2nd one is actually also kind of difficult), but since I played it as my first DR game I was inexperienced with the deduction aspect so it wasn't as bad. There are a lot more problems with DR1 then DR2, but even though I've played all of them I still kind of like DR1 the best for some reason. I think it's just my personal experience with playing it. But DR2 is definitely the better game, and is super close up there with it for me.

I don't know if anyone pointed this out during the streams, but both Fukawa and Junko have two different VAs, and are both the same two VAs. Amanda Celine Miller, and ... Erin Fitzgerald! AKA Chie. Genocide Jill specifically is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald. Just thought you should know (if you didn't already).
And Aoi is voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris, who also voices Morgana in Persona 5. Even funnier, in Persona 5 Royal, Morgana in human form is voiced by Bryce Pappenbrook, who voices Makoto in this game.
@@snowyches9886 Yeah, it's great. Though I was more referring to the fact that Amanda and Erin share the voices for two characters in DR1, which seems like something that rarely happens.

Honnestly, I love Celeste's execution so much. She wanted to be big, important, have a big lavish kind of living, and burning would work to hold that illusion, but then here comes the fucking truck, being what kills her, like every other accident on the planet. It's reducing for her and the last, ultimate shame of her life, dying an ordinary death.
In my mind, and agreed upon by many fans of the series, the second game irons out many issues of the first. And in my opinion, the characters of the seconds game are even more memorable, and the game contains probably the best trials. PLEASE continue playing the series, it's really an uphill climb.
"I don't know his name so I'll just call him 'black and white bear'." That's what the writer named him too lol. "Mono-" as in monocolored, "-kuma" as in bear.
The only thing worst than Celeste's execution is every Danganronpa super-fan who swarm comments sections with patronizing explanations about why the car wreck makes sense and that "You're just not smart enough to get it."
"I don't know his name, so I'm just gonna call him black and white bear." is so funny because Monokuma's name is literally "black and white bear." Mono as in monochrome, and Kuma is the Japanese word for bear lmao
I like to imagine that Mondo was turned into butter because his flesh melted off his body from the electricity. 20:18 - Alter Ego's execution is made worse when you remember it can feel. The little detail of Naegi putting it in his clothes and it feeling "tickled" by it is the evidence. Further evidence shows that when Monokuma first hit Alter Ego with the motorized dirt digger's shovel Alter Ego winces in pain.

most get thrown off about Sayaka, cause she was the main love interest character. And in this kind of game the love interest gets just as much plot armor as the protagonist. Sayaka being the first to die is this game saying 'Plot Armor, wtf is that?' the 11037 bit being Leon clue was actually kind of a victim of translation. See, the clue was unaltered from japanese to english. Most playing in japan when it came out might not have been able to piece together the clue, as they may not know how to read in other languages. But in english it became a damn obvious clue.
I knew this would happen I knew sooner or later this will happen All i can say is if you are going to go through all the games Be ready for a wild ride
Hope (no pun intended) that the first Danganronpa game didn’t disappoint you too much but trust us, the first game is basically an introduction to DR, some stuff is so obvious and easy to guess and predict what will happen next and the twists, the blackened.. The next games are definitely improvements in the series and more enjoyable.
17:39 well technically, Celeste doesn't support of her being normal. So, killing her with a common cause of death ( as being ran over by a vehicule, it must have been a despair for her.
To be fair,it was supposed to be much harder for the japanese audience(since the devs are japanese) Because leon would be written with kanji not as "Leon" But its obvious in english.
Ah, seeing people react as intended to the game is refreshing after others constantly criticizing it lol The game actually does a really good job at tying loose ends, but does require you to stick around until the end; for example when Hifumi says Celeste's real name, people call BS since it's too convenient and isn't explained, but at the end you see they had their memories removed, so when Hifumi was hit in the head, his memories return, giving his words "I remember their name" a different weight. Is the game convoluted? Yeah, it has a lot padding just to add playtime. Is it too crazy? Yeah, but it doesn't really take itself seriously in the first place, it's a living trope, tho the first game is especially guilty of being "anime" to a fault lol. In the end though, as you say, what matters most is that you have fun, and for games like this, it's best to just go along with the flow.
Another series to have fun seeing you experience😇 🙌 also the streams where surfshark got an amazing amount of mileage haha any sponsors are lucky if they get you crystal 👍🙂
The reason everyone didn't immediately think it was Leon is because they're all in Japan and there's no guarantee any of them know English, and writing his name in Japanese would be a lot harder as his name in Kanji has a lot of lines that are close together, and would be kinda hard to write while you're bleeding out.

@@ExaltedUriel
-Lady- Ann Takamaki’s voice actress Erika Harlacher voices Kyouko Kirigiri.
There’s a lot of characters in DR that share actors with persona characters, it’s great- Hajime the protag from the second game has the same VA as Yu.
@@snowyches9886 Yeah, it's great. Though I was more referring to the fact that Amanda and Erin share the voices for two characters in DR1, which seems like something that rarely happens.
I always find it weird how people use the last name when referring to the characters when they are speaking in English 😂 im just so confused like is fukawa and then im like or right toko
Finally! A game series I’ve played so I can watch Crystal play it!
In my mind, and agreed upon by many fans of the series, the second game irons out many issues of the first. And in my opinion, the characters of the seconds game are even more memorable, and the game contains probably the best trials. PLEASE continue playing the series, it's really an uphill climb.
Omg I LOVE that you’re getting into the series !! I think you’re gonna love it, it’s a lot like Persona in style and themes (:
That reaction to the opening execution was all I needed to know that this will be a ride.
The fact that she figured out Leon so quickly makes me feel like a dumbass.
"I don't know his name so I'll just call him 'black and white bear'."
That's what the writer named him too lol. "Mono-" as in monocolored, "-kuma" as in bear.
Oh damn I never even noticed...
Ay great Reactions! Let's get you to 100k subs!
I've wanted to see you play this game for so long because of your theories
Didn’t realize how sussy the dialogue was in this game BDKDBDKSKSSOSL, but this was such a comfy playthrough I loved it sm
CrystAAHHL, lemme just say this: You, my friend, are in for a WILD ride.
So hyped for whenever you start Danganronpa 2!!
really had fun watching this, Im subbing
everyone getting excited about Hifumi's death in chat feels like a bad omen of sorts considering the tragedy that would occur like. minutes later.
It was a bad omen 52 games early
this is the earliest I’ve ever been to a TH-cam video
I like to imagine that Mondo was turned into butter because his flesh melted off his body from the electricity.
20:18 - Alter Ego's execution is made worse when you remember it can feel. The little detail of Naegi putting it in his clothes and it feeling "tickled" by it is the evidence. Further evidence shows that when Monokuma first hit Alter Ego with the motorized dirt digger's shovel Alter Ego winces in pain.
Danganronpa 2 is SO good and I can't wait until you get to it!!!
so this is the first video I have seen from this channel and 2:20 has cemented me as fan
The 2nd trial was the most emotional for me 😭
can't wait for her to do the next danganronpa games
I just only found your channel a few days ago because of your p5r gameplay and goodness I’m addicted to watching you tbh lol. You have an incredible personality and you are a very like able person! You’ve gained a new sub on YT and twitch:D!
can't wait for the next games (don't worry, they learned from their mistakes and the next games are better)
Yay!! I missed most of the streams and was hoping you’d post highlights to TH-cam thanks!
the way you say "oh my gawd" never fails to make me smile
ive been waiting for u to upload this lets go! i watched the vod for the entire first stream and got partway thru the second one but just haven't had time since to get through the rest so ive been waiting for you to upload an edited version and you finally have woooo! maybe ill get to the full vods someday, we'll see lol.
12:33
Celeste: "Great idea"
theres a game ive been thinking of seeing you play thats similar to the DR series but im willing to wait and see~
I love how you're literally wearing the Crucifix while laughing about Hifumi's pants.🤣
My necklace is the symbol for alchemy from FMA. lol
@@CrystAAHHL Oh...😳 My bad...😓
most get thrown off about Sayaka, cause she was the main love interest character. And in this kind of game the love interest gets just as much plot armor as the protagonist.
Sayaka being the first to die is this game saying 'Plot Armor, wtf is that?'
the 11037 bit being Leon clue was actually kind of a victim of translation. See, the clue was unaltered from japanese to english. Most playing in japan when it came out might not have been able to piece together the clue, as they may not know how to read in other languages. But in english it became a damn obvious clue.
I knew this would happen
I knew sooner or later this will happen
All i can say is if you are going to go through all the games
Be ready for a wild ride
I love the guy quoting Monty Python during Celeste's execution XD
I love the bad ending. Hina just fucking eveyrone and being knocked up is hilarious.
12:23 that scream. I felt that, on a personal level. God I couldn’t stand hifumi 😂.
Oh hey Timeless didn't expect to find you here!
@@etam8099 Hiii. Yeah I enjoy her content a lot. Plus I also love danganronpa as well
Hope (no pun intended) that the first Danganronpa game didn’t disappoint you too much but trust us, the first game is basically an introduction to DR, some stuff is so obvious and easy to guess and predict what will happen next and the twists, the blackened.. The next games are definitely improvements in the series and more enjoyable.
Yeah that's for sure
Props for guessing Kyoko’s talent during the first chapter!
If you liked Danganronpa, you’ll definitely want to go to the other 2 games. In my opinion, they really expand on the original and are better.
They really are
19:38
in the chat : "EXECUTE HER SIGN!"
That killed me 🤣😂
OG Ace Attorney next please!!! I think it’s been enough time inbetween that you won’t immediately compare to TGAA
I think she's gonna play the OG Ace Attorney either when she finishes with the all Danganronpa games or all of the Dark Souls games.
17:39 well technically, Celeste doesn't support of her being normal.
So, killing her with a common cause of death ( as being ran over by a vehicule, it must have been a despair for her.
YAY IM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!
I stumbled across this anime a few years back and it left such a mark that I never forgot about how disturbing and hopeless it was, even the ending.
11037 really was the mastermind... I still can't believe it
I just couldn't believe she solved in the first moment she saw the numbers
To be fair,it was supposed to be much harder for the japanese audience(since the devs are japanese)
Because leon would be written with kanji not as "Leon"
But its obvious in english.
@@dafire9634 who
cares.....
@@KarroszuMiaka No need to be rude. You're so not watermelon
@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 what?? Tf do you mean im so not a watermelon?
Glad you're playing this one ❤️
Ah, seeing people react as intended to the game is refreshing after others constantly criticizing it lol
The game actually does a really good job at tying loose ends, but does require you to stick around until the end; for example when Hifumi says Celeste's real name, people call BS since it's too convenient and isn't explained, but at the end you see they had their memories removed, so when Hifumi was hit in the head, his memories return, giving his words "I remember their name" a different weight.
5:13 can we appreciate the irony of mondo saying 'goddamn straight'
Another series to have fun seeing you experience😇 🙌 also the streams where surfshark got an amazing amount of mileage haha any sponsors are lucky if they get you crystal 👍🙂
The reason everyone didn't immediately think it was Leon is because they're all in Japan and there's no guarantee any of them know English, and writing his name in Japanese would be a lot harder as his name in Kanji has a lot of lines that are close together, and would be kinda hard to write while you're bleeding out.
Oh my god I can't believe I missed this!
This is why Monokuma is a godly villain, he makes a boner joke and disappears.
Oh god, i didnt think CrystAAHHL is ready for the madness of DR but here we are now.
I cant wait for the second game to blow her mind
14:24 visible anger
Oh god... she made a pun, and looked happy while doing it.
God, am I gonna remember this!
Me while watching Mondo’s execution: ‘I want fairybread… OH WAIT-‘
(If you know, you know)
If you didn’t understand, fairybread is just bread, BUTTER, and sprinkles. That’s why.
Crystal is literally every person who played this game series
3:53 NO YOURE NOT ALLOWED TO BE THIS SMART HELP THIS IS ONLY CHAPTER 1 GIRL
It took me so long to figure out some things cause this was my first visual novel
14:45 STOP THIS MADNESS
18:03 WHAT
23:30 omg she got the bad ending
For the record a person dying will be alive for couple seconds before dying.
I just played through the first one, and I had a lot of fun with it. Was it perfect? No. Did I love playing it? Absolutely.
I just finished Danganronpa 2, I'd love to see you play that!
