for those wondering why there are so many comments wishing Jeff a speedy recovery: He posted a picture on his IG-story of his broken bike. In the caption he said he had a crash resulting in a broken collarbone, pelvis and vertebrae if I remember it correctly.
Where was he at?
ahh thanks, was wondering 👍👍
@@eljeferaider Cal Aggie Criterium (Sacramento)
@@Mark_Tucker the way his bike was split in half I thought he got hit by a car. 🤕
@@Mark_Tucker … In your Video at about 57min you see I think Jeff dropping back, and then just after that a Yell/Scream… Was that maybe it ? 🤔🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴♂️
Get well soon, Jeff! We all know you'll be back stronger.
Heard about your crash! Speedy recovery brother! Got faith you’ll come back stronger than ever!!!
Getwell soon Jeff! Praying for your swift recovery.
Get well soon you legend! Hoping for a speedy recovery! Can't wait to see you back out there getting all them alviso wins!
Get well soon, Jeff!
As someone who only recently recovered from an accident, binge watching your videos has taught me so much and made me a better rider.
I'll never be a racer. I'm 57 years old, been cycling for 11 years, and I just love riding my bike. After watching your videos for the last several years though, I am confident that I know as much about racing strategies as the most seasoned racers. Great content, great narration. Thanks for another good video.
Hey, I'm 57 too! I have been cycling for 47 years, on the bad asphalt of Ukraine, surrounded by aggressive drivers, my cardiologist said that I have a trained heart, but it has grown old and I cannot now race. Now I just ride and I think you and I have 25 maybe even 30 cycling years. In any case, I really wish this for us. Sorry for my English🙂 Take care!
@@jurikro6761 I agree with you Juri. I ride with men in their 70's and 80's who are in amazing shape. Two of those men rode across the United States a few years ago, while in their mid 70's. I hope you and I have at least 25 more years of riding ahead of us. And your English is just fine, better than many on here lol.
More Dutch racing please. So much to learn from these video’s.
He! Thats our club course!
Papendal & tactics? I've not seen those ever, we just try to ride people of the wheel...usually its me getting dropped 😁
That "pro" is actually not a pro, he's actually a master. Good job Joost 🤟
Love your channel man. You've inspired me to get back into riding. I traded in my MTB for another road bike only my 2nd ever. Lance got me into cycling back in the day; I don't care what people think about him now or then. People can be viewed different. One mans dream is another mans nightmare. One mans hero is another mans villain. In cycling it seems both can motivate and inspire so not labeling you anything but a great motivator and content creator, thanks dude.
Heard about your crash, Jeff! Stay strong and get well soon💪. You and your content on this channel are what brought me and so many people to the sport of cycling.
I have been considering about upgrading to a new bike, since my current one is a bit too small for me. While searching a bunch of different options I stumbled upon what seems to me as a perfect option. It's specialized's Diverge Comp E5, their aluminium gravel bike, but it comes only with 1x drivetrain. Is it possible to, perhaps, fit a 2x on it?
Stay strong and think positive🙏.
I hope you get well super soon and better than ever! Favorite channel!
Get well soon jeff , Hoping for a speedy recovery !!
11:08 perfect opportunity to go to the front and soft pedal, increasing the gap. Weird tactics throughout.
Thanks man. I learned more from this video pointing out very specifically what was done wrong. Seems like you had a lot to work with on this one!
Native really is a great deodorant. A friend got me into them and I'm glad I switched to them.
Yay! 🙌
I hope your recovery comes quickly!!! I will miss your videos at aliviso.
Prayers up for Jeff :(. Get well soon.
Get well soon Jeff. Heal up and speedy recovery.
Whenever I see your USA races, you always see some racers that their bike fit is not optimal. Some have to high saddle, or to low. Yet when I see those European ones, they all have literally a perfect fit.
where should the saddle be because i moutain bike so i have my seat lowered so when i go fast standing i dont have the seat hitting my legs but obviously this is different i see peoppe have the seats where they would be standing so they only sit like 2 inches down from where theyd be standing where do u think the seat should be seated
all the best for a speedy recovery, jeff.
The explanations on why you don’t do this or do do that is great. Excellent crit training video.
Speedy recovery man 🙏🙏
This channel is underrated
was expecting ur crash vid! get well soonest!! come back stronger man 💪💪💪
I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS JEFF! WAITING ALL DAY
Praying for a FAST recovery... rip sworks tho...
Get well soon Jeff ! Stay positive man.
Speedy recovery Jeff, summer's on the way.
Native should come out with a chamois cream called "preem" for Jeff.
Great racing guide. Thanks guys!!!
Papendal. I have good memories of that place. Lets see if I can recognize some friends.
Big fan of these races!
Get well soon Jeff, and like Jerome said, don't give any other riders an inch!
It's just practice. He's testing and measuring his and other's limits. Next time he will peak at the right time when it counts.
Getwell soon, Jeff!
Hope you’re healing up well!
Bouke deserves a free subscription to this channel!
(Papendal is in Gelderland, not Holland.)
You' re right, but we also say ''America" often while USA is meant.
@@rustcohle9589 Well, it's the US of America... I've never heard anyone say that New York City is in Texas, or Berlin is in Bavaria.
I won't lie, I seen the title and thought this was going to be a send up of Tom Pidcock vs the Belgiums
Bro i saw your story get well soon!!
_Seems a little extreme to get a bike upgrade, but..._ All our best on your recovery :-)
Whoop whoop Glenn is back 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🦾🦾🦾🦾
Get well soon Jeff! It's never ideal but winter is the best time to be injured! 😀
This video is good teaching material. I learned planty of crit race strategy
shoutout Boukeeeeee
Get well soon Jeff, and I am always game for more Dutch racing with Glenn.
Get well soon Jeff. Also, more Dutch racing please.
Love the dutch racing
The POV guy seems to hate drafting, I've watched the first 5 minutes of the video so far, and he is eating wind all the time, for no reason, wtf?
edit: it doesn't change much throughout the video: more often than not, there is air in front of him. Such a strong guy, but roadbike racing without drafting will not work. ;)
i love the dutch races!
Hi guys nice video!!!
Do you know if this kind of race exist in Germany too?
Outstanding video!
Yes, we want moaar Dutch racing! A brief masterclass in NOT what to do.
yes! Glenn! also, Jeff, get better. Sad to see that post.
I was cringing every time they rode through the puddle while turning
That puddle corner is crap, tar lines, bumps, bad pavement. But we manage fine anyway.
would like to see a tutorial for this amazing sport because i dont know shit about it and it looks super cool!!
Get well, Jeff!
Yes get well soon Jeff!!!
This is exciting
Hey guys, I'm interested in spectating (or possibly participating?) in these races. I Live in The Netherlands, where can I find more information about these events?? Thanks
Knwu kalender
Get well soon Jeff! ✨
Get well my man
Looks like Astana/Lopez racing this past week.
Getting ready to try my first races in April, how do you setup your bike computer on a race course to let you know distance remaining throughout the race? Or is that only done in post race video editing. If so how do you track laps in a race?
Crit racing is usually done by time, you race for say 45 minutes and then there's a bell indicating last lap
This kind of racing is done by time + x laps. The lower categories finish earlier leaving only the best riders in the race the for last 15 minutes and three laps.
In terms of strategy, there was no strategy.....
Also, hope you recover soon Jeff!
sir what software you use for the overlay?
What gear do you like to sprint in ?
Get well Jeff!!
Yes more Dutch racing please !!
Get well soon!!!
Can you ask Boka onto the show and bash him some more?
Bauke
Hey Jeff I may have missed it, but do you have / would you do a video on Alviso: how it started / what it is / do you pay entry fees / who organises it / who organises the jersey (pretty sure I saw one) / what insurance you need, etc. Here in Australia we have crits but you wear a number, need council / police approval / UCI license, etc. You need none of that to train. Be keen to learn the genesis of Alviso with thoughts of how possible it would be to recreate here in Socialist communist Victoria, Australia...
Just learnt of your stack. Dang. Hope your recovery is going ok.
Get well soon
Someone relies on their big power ability.
more dutch racing!!!
get well soon Jeff
"Team tactics", huh.
With only 1 guy leading out and 4 sprinting for their own result, seems to me they were only riding to get beat by the much more talented guy.
Get well soon.
why is everyone using the small chainring?
none of them are
what software are you using ?
Get well soon Jeff.
I disagree, after attacking you should try to push very hard until you are more than a corner ahead, go hard until the group can no longer see you. There is no point riding in a where the group can easily catch. Constant attacking is just a way to get yourself tired. Attack much less often and harder, or never attack and pull for a nice team sprint. There should be one tactic not a different one every corner. It is a terrible idea to just waste energy.
Heart rate ~180 all the way
I want to be like Boca when I grow up
Glad the injury has not effected your commentary!
The first passing rider at the sprint wasn't the same rider a few minutes before (in the video - named "the pro" in the JUST LEASE bib short logo) wasn't the same rider who sprinted off to the win. How many "pros" were in the race? Why weren't "Boca's" teammates communicating with him? SNAFUFUBAR
"
The guy who won is actually just a club racer with an amateur license in the Netherlands. Still a really good racer but not a pro haha
Chasing team mate maybe they trying to give support? Trying Trying to control the pace?
NoBoDy iS WeArInG gLoVes?! 🧐
Is this a public road or like a cersed course? Ĺooks like a nice place to ride.
It's a closed course
@@sethvanwieringen215 I know it closed for the race, but what I am asking (should have been more clear) is this like a regular Dutch public road or is it made specifically for cyclists
The tarmac circle is part of the private grounds of the Dutch Sports Org where the olympians train.
@@danielspronk1757 that awesome don't have to deal with cars , they need to build more areas like this for cyclists in my country
@@CB-rk1qc alas our club RETO (who organizes this) has to move next year and look for a new spot. Which is very hard to find.
Please, more Dutch more alviso
Get well soon Jeff, didn't look good
I'm wondering if Boca seen this video and or learned from this race 🤔
Is the native deodorant effective for a sweaty ass?, cause after a ride you know that assy steel in the pub is quite annoying. So as a professional deodorant seller, what’s your opinion?
More dutch racing here.
shame i had to watch 5 double ads to watch this video...
Here am i if you need a good tactician coach.
Native keeps me feeling Natty.
I like green tea or charcoal deodorants best.
During the summer, it's full natty brahh...shower only in Boulder Creek.
Edit: Save your pineal gland and go aluminum free because alzheimers is a horrible death.
Ask my dad.
Awefull crash, Heal fast!!
What did I miss? Why all these get well soon comments?
Jeff got smashed up pretty hard and has some broken bones and bike. You can see him going down right at the end of th-cam.com/video/-2XhBRy_ZiY/w-d-xo.html :(
Is it true that a Dutch lady cat 5 can beat any american cat 3 male?
Maybe. In this race there are also wonen racing, in the peloton most can keep up just fine. Average speed for the whole race is often 43-46 kmh, with back straight speeds about 60 kmh. Start finish has a little climb, it looks like a simple course...until you ride it at speed
I can guarantee that many Americans will get smoked in real Dutch crits, but not on this course. Because we are used to way tighter courses. With very narrow streets and roads speed bumps and cobled paving. However papendal is relatively easy to follow in the peloton. It is however very hard to hold a gap since the peloton almost never slows down.
