“Stains are proof of a piece of clothing’s life” is such a great way of looking at it. When looking at an item of your clothing, you want to feel the history behind all the times you wore it and how loved it was.
Loving your clothes means taking them to a tailor to camouflage a stain or refashion the garment altogether if it needs updating to your current style. Disregarding damage shortens the life and value of your treasures; it is not a badge of honor.
@Luci Evelyn - whatever caused the stain -- be it blood, wine, oil or ink -- will accelerate the decomposition of the fiber content in that spot at an accelerated rate as compared to the rest of the garment. This is why vintage dresses are sometimes just fine in visible areas but shredded under the arms where untreated sweat stains degraded the silk. This is less true for more durable (ie virtually non-biodegradable) synthetic textiles but they hold odor more so who is trying to hold onto that??!
@Luci Evelyn - I'm understanding corrosive as meaning battery acid or bleach but even tap water contains trace metals and salts so that is also damaging to certain textiles, hence dry cleaning...
I wear mostly black with dark wash jeans, but looking at Naomi Watanabe's 7 looks is like an icy drink on a hot day, refreshing and invigorating. My fav was that green and pink print dress. There wasn't a look I didn't love, although I will not be wearing the tengu geta anytime soon due to balance issues not fashion.
Can we talk about her eye for accessories? The date outfit paired with the Heaven necklace and dainty rose dangling earrings was genius. I'm so delighted by this woman.
As a Brazilian who grew up wearing Melissa..... Seeing that nowadays it's worldwide and it does collaborations with famous designers.... It's so crazy 🤣 it used to be like "little kids" shoes... And we'd wear it with socks because the plastic gave you THE WORST feet smell and sweat 🤣🤣🤣
I absolutely adore how she dresses a little differently, though still on her style, for different places. Like little costumes for a better mis-en-scene in the movie if her life. I do that too whenever I travel. Or even when I’m going to different places locally. And as a native born and bred NYer, I think she really nailed the NYC vibes. This was the best 7 days/7 looks, hands down.
She got me to fall in love with the cloud date outfit. I am going to a date next month. ( I haven't went on a date for four years+). I am definitely steal her line "do you want to go heaven with me?" IT SOOO ADORABLE!
I love love love Naomi’s style. She’s so fun and honestly she always instills the fact that you can wear whatever you want to me. Also Lazy Oaf is one of my favorite brands. Get into it. They’re fun and quirky!
Delia’s making a comeback is the best news I’ve heard in fashion in a minute. I remember how excited I used to be as a teen to get the catalog in the mail
But Delia's has always been back. They're available on Dollskill. I know Dollskill is a bad brand but they've been available on the site for a while already.
Naomi reminds us that fashion can and should be fun and expressive of your personality. Her aesthetic and energy shows us she is colorful, joyful and fun.
I am loving the reactions to Asian fashion. Their cultures have different fashion histories as far as silhouettes, fabrics, patterns, etc that manifest in their respective fashion styles today. Culture is everything. There is just so much for us to learn from each other!
OMG!!! Melissa is an extremely popular brand here in Brazil, I had no idea they're known internationally :00 I'm so happy, i love their shoes so much and love that many more people can experience them too!!! Also Naomi's was definetly one of my favorites from these Vogue vids
I love Naomi's streetwear(?) brand, PUNYUS, it's so much fun, great prints, who doesn't want a fugu/edamame etc all over print sweat set? Having sizes at all is kinda rare in Japanese streetwear that I've seen anyway so having plus sizes is so important. Also love all the Lazy Oaf, if I had more money I'd live in LO, they have such good prints. They've also done a couple of recent collaborations with Melissa, super cute.
This video made me so happy! I've been a long time watcher of your videos and as a plus size person, who dresses very similar to Naomi, it makes me feel so accepted and admired that you dig her style as much as I do. Also fun tidbit: Melissa actually did a collab with Lazy Oaf ;) It was ADORABLE and I'm still on the hunt for the red x pink shoes.
My favorite was the cloud date outfit Probably because that's something I would wear myself. And it was really cute. I loved the whole look. The other looks were also very cute and fun and I enjoyed watching her. I also really liked what she said about stains, that they are proof of a piece of clothing's life. I love that.
I love her so much, I'm so glad you made this video! I love that she does her thing and doesn't just wear skater dresses and whatever else the fashion industry tries to sell to us plus size people as "flattering." I'm obsessed with the Wednesday look, I want that coat!
I loved this 7 days video so much. I have a place I save videos called "Just makes me happy" Naomi's video is definitely saved there for when I want to see fashion as it should be. Exuberant, not aspirational, fearless, inclusive. I will look for more from Naomi Watanabe. Great that you reviewed this.
God shes so fun and cute and positive, I had a smile on my face the whole time as I was watching. And I love how brave she is with the prints and colors, it's always refreshing to see someone play around with clothing like that.
Lazy oaf is one of my fave brands..its uk based very small run by 2 women...I'm obsessed with Japanese Fashion so I'm very happy that you reviewed Naomi's looks and loved them too! She also has a brand called Punyus..
10:45 there’s something about this outfit that speaks to me- that hat is so fucking cute and quirky and unique and it pairs so perfectly with everything else going on. I feel like the look would be broken if even one of those elements wasn’t there, and that’s what makes that outfit so important. The pairing was key, and it was knocked out of the park. The understanding of color and shape is phenomenal, and I hope to see more like it in the future.
I am at 12:06. I am obsessed with the fashion! I have a boiler suit in my Amazon cart right now.... I just have to say, I am 38, I was 100% the gal wearing babydoll dresses and combat boots 15 years ago. It was an edgy style at the time. I'm so happy to see the trend resurface. ☺ I feel so validated and seen. 😍💓
Lazy Oaf is popular in the "kawaii" fashion communities, they have a lot of cutesy and colorful stuff. There was a Lazy Oaf cardigan that everyone was *obsessed* with like 5 years ago haha
Looooove this vid, love her and love your commentary! Also you should look up Lazy Oaf! They're kind of like cutesy streetwear, casual, but high quality. Makes total sense that Naomi shops there!
Every time I watch your videos, which is CONSTANTLY, I am reminded why I love the content! You're so knowledgeable and give such great insight to fashion history!
its so fun seeing you react to brands im more aware of (more casual alternative designers that lets be real most of us found out abt thru dollskill) since ive defs learned about other areas of fashion from this channel
I'm so glad you reviewed this! I'm pretty obsessed with Naomi Watanabe, and buy stuff from her brand, Punyus, whenever I can find it here in Taiwan. Living in Asia it's really hard to get fun plus-sized clothing, so I effin' love her. I finally have some color in my wardrobe again thanks to her, although I can't feel comfortable in the giant jeans. I've bought two pairs and have turned them both into skirts because they're just soooo roomy.
I’m so glad I found this video. I recently stumbled upon your channel and I have really enjoyed your commentary on the expensive fashions. I’m happy to see you discuss this more down to earth fashion style. I loved her cloudy date night look. I’m glad you can appreciate big girl fashion.
I was so excited when i saw the thumbnail, thank you so much, Watanabe Naomi it's such a fun and cute soul in this world, so happy to see people enjoy fashion in a fun way of expressing themselves 💖
Recently saw an old childhood photo (circa 2000) where I made an outfit out of cloud patterned bedsheets and pillowcases.. and it looks exactly like Naomi's Friday outfit 😂 🥰
the fact that youre discovering lazyoaf for the first time made me so excited. theyre such a body positive fun and quirky brand and i love watching people discover things i love
I’ve been a huge fan of Naomi since I was in second grade!! Now that I’m older and actually studying fashion it’s so cool to see her getting recognition for her cool style
obsessed with her! I would love for you to rank all the 7 Days you've done. For me Naomi is now my no 1, with Haim next, and absolutely Addison Rae on the bottom.
I really liked this video, and also watched the one with Anne Nakamura (AMAZING STYLE!) and CL! It's so cool to see you featuring asian style! I also took a break from this channel for a while, but am really liking your empathy and understanding these days! Subscribe!
And yeah Delia’s released a plus size line with dollskill these are very plus size friendly brands. You should also take a look at nooworks and big bud press
ugh my first job was Delia's, I'll never forget endlessly folding the One Direction name and face shirts. They haven't been in my mall (King of Prussia one of the biggest in the US) in many years, I don't even know if they still have many shops, they do carry them on Dolls Kill though.
Lazy Oaf is from the UK, if you know who Noel Fielding is he wears their stuff a lot, theyre a great brand love them, Lazy Oaf and Drop Dead are like the only good urban brands that survived for long in Europe I feel like
