Here’s a solution. SEPARATE MY PARK FROM MY CAREER. You’re punishing casual players when many of us don’t even care about playing online. Punishing everybody for the actions of a few is something I can never get behind

Absolutely. I don't care about online, I don't wanna play online. The fact that we have to pay extra money for our OFFLINE player to get better is crazy.
I use to be strictly a my career player but over the years around 2k17 when I started playing online those bots in my career just get boring I like beating real competition I get what you saying tho it should be separate
2k online is for the blacks that’s about it

When you said you can’t be mad at the shooting because people are hitting shots, I completely agree. We do this every year. All it takes is time and people start to figure out the shooting. There is no need for a buff.
My first impression of this game was realizing that shooting was actually where it needs to be in this game. I have been playing full 12min games in HOF with my bro, and when the game is done, I actually feel good when one of my players score at least 20. It actually feels rewarding.
I think there needs to be a SLIGHT buff, cuz casual players shouldn’t be useless cuz they can’t time a jumper, im shooting fine but I’ve had games where I’ve had to shoot 25-30 shots cuz they literally can’t buy a bucket if they were a millionaire

And i honestly dont feel like im missing on anything. its the same game, riddled with macrotransactions. no huge changes since like 2k19/2k20. just milking the cow. remove mycourt, add it back. shit like that.

The 2K you're referring to was probably 2k21 with the shot aiming. No one had badges and it was tough to shoot without them that year initially iirc, and it was right after 2k20 where even 60 3pt ratings could green pretty easily
2k21 shooting was just bad I couldn't hit anything offline with 97 three and badges and I saw people online miss shots on myteam with 99 ovr klays and 98 ovr Terrence ross

You having to spend 200k vc to reach 85 ovr is crazy to me, they force you to buy vc because playing with a - than 75 ovr even on my career is impossible if you play on HOF. 200k vc is like 50$ btw

Hands up contests in the paint are nonexistent. Perimeter contests are also pretty bad. Besides that the gameplay isn’t too bad.
Shooting is also really inconsistent

The reason so many people are having trouble stopping backdoor cuts is because they lack interior defense. NBA Tutes tested this and he found that interior defense not only makes it harder for people to score on you in the paint, but it gives you greater resistance on post back downs and cuts. I play on a 6’9” SF with 70 interior and only a few builds have been able to back door against me multiple times in a single game.

My paint defense has actually been good. I’m on a 6’9” SF with 70 interior. I’ve been surprised by how I’ve been able to play hands up defense against like 85% of people that come into the paint.

Man I been saying the worst thing abt this year is actually how free the paint is and not the shooting. I play at the 5 with a 93 block on my build and even if I react to the play before it happens the layup and dunk animations highly favors the offense this year!! And I know I’m not just garbage, bc I see very good centers get absolutely posterized by squad mates when I personally see they react well
Need interior defense rating at 82+ and need immovable enforcer which 2K thought it was okay to only give true bigs only bronze

3:30 That "backdoor cut" cheese has been in every single 2K. They do not care to fix it. There are even players whose entire game relies on passes making them go through defenders' bodies no matter how you cut them off.

I’m glad he said something about the back door cuts. I will play the lane or even be in front of the player when they cut, I’ll press steal and get nothing. Happens too much, and I’m a defensive menace

Interior defense has been one of my biggest issues about this game is when you have a player with high interior defense and HOF badges, but there is no impact on the shooter once they're at the rim. Contested shots at the rim are easily converted compared to past 2Ks

I agree with everything you said smoove. Shooting used to be so simple in 2k15-2k17 but once I started hearing bout the shooting issues, I stopped playing

The biggest worry is they won’t fix defense bc they think it’ll hurt the casual player base. But I think it’s the opposite
Honestly. If they just fix the lane steals, player collisions (hitting your own teammates), and contest system. 2k25 will be a 10/10, I’ve had so much fun so far but right now those 3 factors hold it back for me, so ima give it a 8/10.
Personally for me, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my paint defense if I have paint patroller on my 6’6 guard, so imo i think it’s fine, I also feel like the contest system is bad ONLY if you have silver challenger and below. Once I got gold challenger, I was able to get some good content which is strange.
Is it just me or does my guy not want to collide with the pg when playing defense he just bounces of em and my why have on ball menace do the thing immovable enforcer did last year are they dumb😂

Basically, the green window is there, but it changes a bit depending on the animation which also slightly changes. But the visual cue is the same. So if you release it right on the visual cue it's always gonna be a green, but the visual cue happens at slightly different times so it seems like it's random, but it's not. All you gotta do is watch the visual cue instead of memorize your jumpshot's timing.
Shots are on average 500ms long and average reaction time is 250ms. so your shot is always halfway over before you can even react to your changed animation
I'm highkey hating on Smoove that he got a good team in rec. I was nearly at the 2nd Gold level yesterday then got a string of flawed teams (either the PG had 0 court vision or we had a popping C that could not shoot or get boards). Dropped me all the way back down to bronze while he's getting guys that that actively move the ball and communicate, even having experience with proving grounds.
I literally shoot nearly 65% from 3 and am forced to sit corner wide open while my PG mindlessly dribbles
PGs with 0 vision or just enough vision to only ever see their pick n roll partner are my downfall

i agree with the notion that if they do end up buffing the shooting then perimeter defense definitely needs a buff aswell but i do hope they dont return to how it was in 24 where you could get great contests even if your perimeter defense was very low. i like that how good your contest is is heavily tied to how high ur perimeter defense is
They should do like live, if your wide open you can green all day if you know your shot, if someone’s guarding you, without contesting you can green, but if they are defending you an contest you, you can’t green the shot, that’s when badges made the difference, but I do agree they should go back to regular player shots no caps or attribute stipulations, take out custom shots in needed

Im mainly a play now online player and back doors and paint defense is broken there too, and real player % is absolutely OP
I feel like no matter what they do, offense will always have the advantage, some what like football on offense. Defense is always at a disadvantage.

Strength and perimeter D is important in this game! I did not do what everyone else is doing and put steal up to 90+. My steal is only 62. I instead put a high perimeter D (92 perimeter with gold on-ball menace, gold challenger) so I can actually put a body on ppl instead of depending on “reaching” as defense. My 6’3 guard has a 85 strength. Gold enforcer badge, upped it to HOF with the max +1 badge. Most guards DO NOT have strength and I literally PUSH them out the way.
Imo the best 2Ks were the ones with full whites. Making shooting harder forces players to pass around the ball and look for shots other than 3 pointers which is great. I've shot 60+% from 3 the last 3 games and I'm not mad when I see some whites go in tbh. People don't take 15 3pts a game in rec and actually pass the ball thats a W in my book

is it too hard to make an anticheat system for a sports game? call of duty has a system where if it detects cheating, your shots fire back at you. if you use a zen on 2k they should hit you with all very lates

They forced Tempo shooting to be the move this year. Only way you can consistently hit green shots and make some crazy contested ones too.
The randomness of shooting is what makes badges and ratings worth something, or should at least

The RNG on shooting is fine, but I remember back in the day don’t remember what game but if it was full white your release would say “good” not early or late

We’ve had this conversation last year. The reason why nba players shoot less than 50% from 3 is because most shots are contested. However, if you let Steph Curry shoot wide open, I’m pretty sure he’ll shoot 70% too. They just need to add the random stuff on covered shots. Light pressure and up

make a big power forward or center instead of the usual pg meta so you can try out a diff playing style
I think I am about to put my settings to normal risk/normal reward and TURN OFF FEEDBACK. I already play without meter on but turn feedback off and no meter and just have fun with it. Smoove is reminding me of the old days. Only reason I don't add the meter back like the old days is cause the meters are terrible this year....
The comments about fixing defense are dead on. It's a tough balance, but I think if they made it so defenders could more easily stay in front of someone or get a contest, while still making it difficult to get bumps or blocks, would be the ideal solution. Make the point of defense less about making micro-adjustments and more about making decisions left/right where the dribbler is going.
I’m just not a fan of how hard my big has to play just to get simple under the basket shots. My career has significantly gotten harder which actually is fun.
I agree once 2k introduced the green system defense should have been boosted to combat it if I’m wide open or able to created space then I should be able to make the shot a good clip consistently to make them play better defense but if they are locking me up on the outside or paint then unless i have size advantage I should not have any chance of making it forcing me to reevaluate how I’m playing
i’ve been complaining about the faster jumpshot releases since 23 , 23 was when i really seen the random jumpshot timing and things , but i’ve gotten used to this game in my opinion it’s better than 24 and 23 it’s just problems that 2k has with rng , this the first year they’ve had it and it’s bad enough that it’s in basketball game
It’s so frustrating that every year there are so many weird things that are wrong with the game that need to be tuned or fixed which takes about a couple of months into the year. For any ordinary game it’s just the way it is but for 2k it’s really disappointing since they make a game every single year. The game should be finished and tested well with pro players. There really is no excuse

Tbh ive been having problems with the shooting greens everytime. I was always a person that relies on making whites etc.
They should bring back shading on defense
i think maybe the issue with the offball movement and the pass teleporting is actually a technical one? maybe off ball pest stops affecting them once they start the catch animation because they are now considered as "having the ball" and offball pests is specifically only for off ball defense so the badge just automatically deactivates and they get an open catch that doesnt make a lick of sense. idk. the offball blowbys never made any sense at all i wish they would let you alteast ride their hip to the destination if youre were attached to them before the pass was made so youre actually in the play and ready to defend when they do catch it instead of them getting a weird off ball blowby speedboost when somebody throws them a ball. genuinely believe that offball pest has only been so cheap ever since it came out becasue 2k is aware that it actually doesnt work.

You are right, lately 2k has been catering WAYYYYYYY too much to offense, especially cheesy fast unrealistic moves, where u have to guess where the person is going. And add the delay of the bad servers and that makes it even worst
Paint defense is definitely atrocious in the rec. I’m 7’0 280 Embiid build with 88 interior and I get dunked on like it’s nothing. Hands up doesn’t work and if u jump ur screwed
are you sure youre in good position? late rotations should end up with you getting dunked on. could just be that youre sitting a little bit too deep under the basket might need to step out a lil bit.
The paint defense thing happens in PlayNow online too. You can just make horrible passes to cutting players and there's no penalty.

Cheating in the game isn’t the problem. The problem is they took the defense out so casual players can have fun but that means you can’t combat the cheaters. Doesn’t matter if you zen 🧘♀️ n a 50% contested it’s not going in They have to stop compensating for the casuals.

I think the shooting is fine in my opinion, just got find a good jumper and find the settings that works for you. I think the game is good just need to patch lane steals and contest system cuz EVERYTHING is considered open even wit gold challenger

I feel like it’s skill to be able to time your jumpshot perfectly all the time and green it. But that’s just me. So if you’re shootint 80% from three because you’re timing it, then I can’t complain. As long as you’re not using a zen I don’t see nothing wrong with that, PERSONALLY. I think it should be harder to make contested shots tho.
I play a lot of 5v5 so I genuinely like the game so far, liked it last year as well, i like this years shooting so far and defense is okay, perimeter defense is pretty good this year i just feel like they need to SLIGHTLY touch interior defense, havent been seeing too many bigs with high block ratings get a lot of blocks
I have a 98 steal and can barely steal the ball without getting called for a foul. Even with the my career on rookie. It’s insane
