I couldn't be bothered to strip the plastics and or connect it to the battery, so went for for a 1,8m USB to Mini USB cable hidden behind the plastics, getting the juice from the power socket. Adaptor+cable+caps (to avoid corrosion), 5£

Sorry, not sure what brand it is, was brought off e-bay, but you'd want ideally the under dash mount type.....that way you get the same mounting to house the usb in order to fix to the side. Hope that helps.
No worries. Thanks for responding. Looks like your Multi is a '13 plus. Mine is an '11. I don't have the room to mount it to the side of the dash like you did anyway. The windscreen mounts are in the way.
Yeah your right...Part ex this one though and had a new 15 plate and ended up drilling a hole the size of Calcutta near the instrument panel in order to get a USB in !. Those Din sockets are a waste of space, horrible fitment, way passed time they started putting USB's up front. I've suggested it I dont know how many times. I'm sure you've got a false plastic panel on yours, same as, opposite, the little compartment up front with the flip up lid. I'd look at putting one in there. Best of luck which ever you choose !

so as not to damage the housing I just used double sided tape ..but the thicker stuff...u get them in strips similar to number plate tape.

That was exactly where I was thinking of putting one!
