The water boiled in an iron kettle is mellow and delicious. It seems good for your health too.
If you have an iron kettle made by such a top-notch traditional craftsman, the taste of the hot water will be exceptional!

So few people take any pride in their work nowadays, the enjoyment gained from viewing is enhanced by the spirit endowed to the construction(& the nice smile!) Best wishes to all who aided in bringing this production to us😊Stay safe, well and content always, J.I.M.K Mrs. Brisbane,Australia 🇦🇺 ❤ 😀 🪃.

I just got a spot of inspiration up watching this. I’ve been collecting old furnace filters. When washed the filter part makes great covering for my art. There’s a metal mesh that has to be taken off. Watching your lathing and the metal shavings gave me the idea. I’m going to see if I can cut up my used furnace filters’ metal mesh and use the scrap as embellishment. Thanks!

This is beautiful, but there are some steps you omitted, such as the wax burnout, that I know because I'm familiar with lost wax casting. Also, is the spout decoration and the "cleaned up" interior silver? That looks like silver. But the kettle we see getting a handle attached to doesn't have that. There are several different kettles being made here and there's no clarity on which is which. The inlay appears to be silver, but there's no information about it, or which design has it. This is a fascinating video and I fully understand why these kettles have such high prices, and why the several thousand dollars US price tags on some of them are quite fair and reflect the level of artisanal skill, but I want to see more detail and all steps of the process on the video.

thank you.. I appreciate your knowledge and comment, would you be willing to share with me more about the wax casting process ? I would be very grateful it is very hard to find information on the internet, I just acquired a stunning 3dimentional wax cast kinryudo antique Tetsubin

I watch an artist use his lathe for his resin work. But have never seen it being done without a person’s hands actually doing it. To see it being done virtually hands free is interesting to watch. Was watching the metal scraps collecting as the kettle is being worked on and thought wow I could use those metal shavings for my stuff. Do you re melt those metal shavings for new projects?

Just look at and admire those craftsman’s fingers. Western girls in their long exotically coloured talons couldn’t hold a candle. How wonderful hands are and what beauty they can produce. I am in awe.

Did i miss burnout and firing the refractory between steps 2 & 3?
Does metal investment casting belong to a different universe in Asia?

Why don't you show every step? This is "shell-casting", the burnout of the wax model isn't showed. Rather important. And please thell that guy making the shell, (using lovely lung investing sillica powder) he'd better put a resperator on, otherwise he won't get old.

Out of curiosity i checked their website...
Their cheapest kettle is $220 US, and the price just goes up from there.
Not really surprised, seeing as it's all hand crafted and all aspects must be accounted for.
