    The Inca team bonus is fantastic on nomad maps; so many times I start building the TC and think 'oh crap I didn't find a sheep, im gonna miss out on boars', and then when the TC completes suddenly a friendly llama appears and it makes me so happy.

    When it comes to the Dravidians, their Siege discount is a major improvement for them because they tended to struggle against Mangonel pushes in Castle Age due to no Knights, no Redemption, and garbage Light Cavs. Their only realistic option was to go for a Mangonel trade, which is usually something a player doesn't want to resort to if they can avoid it. The wood discount means that Dravidians can easily come out ahead in Mangonel trades, as long as they trade one-to-one.

    I'd argue that the Persians might be a contender for the 3rd looser place you gave the Spanish. They loose their unique ability of producing the first fishing ship before the town center is even build, effectively leading to a similar drop in early eco as for the Spanish. Both Civs got a little boost by getting gambeson, although one could argue that the existence of gambeson makes trashbows worse, so is it a buff for Persians?
    In the long run, Spanish also got the pretty nice buff of gold generation via techs that you mentioned and also better missionaries (after researching inquisition). To make up for their nerf on nomad starts, Persians got - nothing. Not sure about their win rates, but I think one might consider if they should regain the 5% faster working TCs and Docks in Dark Age that they had for a short time some years ago.

    • @teddyhaines6613

      For Nomad specifically Gambesons is irrelevant anyways. But the Persians at least get their free 50 food and wood eventually. That way they can still afford a fishing ship as soon as their TC goes up. But the Spanish vil lead from their faster TC construction is gone forever.

    Sicilians will gain some, I think. As you said, there's a lot to figure out, especially new openings that drop the barracks for a donjon. And with play rate increasing, there's a lot of new players who have to adjust to them wholesale.

    • @08vinster
      @08vinster ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Building a donjon in place of barracks is extremely slow. SO unless you're trushing, its a much slower build, add to that sicilians are always forced to horse collar (farm tech), with zero eco bonus until their farm bonus kicks in in castle, they will always be a subpar civ. The game revolves around eco bonuses, so long as sicilians dont have any they'll be bad, unless they overbuff serjeants or something.
      Many are suggesting they remove the farm tech bonus and make it a flat +200 food on farms so you arent forced into HC.

    I'd like to see the Viking Berserker to have its regeneration disabled when in direct combat (and X(2-3?) seconds after) but the regeneration is doubled when outside of combat, the change would reward micro and push for the player to preserve units. To counter this I would suggest a minimum and maximum HP required for the regeneration to activate and deactivate, an example could be 10% minimum HP required and 90% HP to deactivate.
    The reason Id like to see this is to push the Viking Berserker into a role closer to that of its historic origins.

    While I really like the donjon changes in theory, the idea of it being a “prerequisite” building is worthless in practice, as you dont want to wait until feudal before building your barracks anyway, and players trying to force the donjon approach is why i would guess the win rate dropped. Unfortunately, idk how to fix it. It would be a nightmare allowing them to be built in dark age. Maybe instead allow it to be a prerequisite for castle age?

    • @regal_eagle717
      @regal_eagle717 ปีที่แล้ว

      One idea I have seen is make them available in dark age, but they don’t shoot arrows until feudal. That way, they still act as a prerequisite, but aren’t overly aggressive in dark age.

    • @nathanfranks1476
      @nathanfranks1476 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@regal_eagle717 yah, i thought of that too. But i still think it would be broken- you could just go to someones woodline, wall in your vils, and build a donjon. The opponent cant get it to attack it and also cant counter tower until feudal. And as soon as the sicilian player hits feudal you are instantly being shot.

    • @regal_eagle717
      @regal_eagle717 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nathanfranks1476 fair points. Though, assuming you are doing this as a replacement for a barracks, that also means you have no barracks at home. And you would have to idle some vills (travel time and are now in the front) in dark to drop the donjon , at a time when every resource is even more important than normal. I guess I’m saying I’m not sure it would be THAT broken, but I think it is close enough for debate.

    They are very good scout rush civ, but they don;t really have any other great options, so any opponent can prepare against a scout rush. An alternative strategy was to go infantry, but now they got left behind in that area.

    The problem with the MAA and Longsword is that they still don't have an exact role. They're slow, so they're not fit for raids, and they're easily overpowered by knights or xbow. Most pro players start the game with xbow or knight.
    The time and cost of switching to a militia line is distressing. Gambeson is just another time-consuming upgrade.
    At this point, I think the MAA and Longsword upgrades should be delivered automatically at the same time as the era upgrades.

    • @thatnerdcalledzanni3957
      @thatnerdcalledzanni3957 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are building-wreckers that don't die to monks and can be easily massed, much easier than knights - that's their role. Since their low-value makes conversions far less important and you can add your own siege to not only tear buildings apart even faster but also keep archers at bay, they fill a role of adding pressure through numbers and forcing reactions to buy time. Gambesons made both archers less effective and town center arrows less of a burden - so you can run at farming eco without fearing pikemen (like you would with knights)
      Now infantry civs have a clear goal. Play agressive, try to not let the opponent breathe and set up late game.

  • @hbarudi
    @hbarudi ปีที่แล้ว

    Losers: (civilizations that lose too much can be buffed by giving them techs they miss)
    11. Italians: Give them Gold shaft mining, (why do civs miss this sappers tech all should have it.), siege engineers, paladin should be available to all European civs and Italians is European civ. and give them the halberdier. But otherwise Italians is not a bad civ, nice to have all 5 imperial age blacksmith upgrades that so few civs have and get almost full tech tree in towers.
    10. Vietnamese: Another great civ with good archers but can be better. Give them parithian tactics, the new gambesons tech, hussar, reskin their knight and cavalier or give them a cavalier replacement cav unit, blast furnace, masonry (why do they have to miss this?), fervor (they miss redemption but don't seem to be that religious of a civ for it), and yet another civ that misses the gold shaft mining.
    9. Koreans: Don't know why they are performing poorly, they are ok as but can be better. Give them parithian tactics, bloodlines (don't like civs missing any upgrades that affect buff their bonuses or unique units), Bonus for military units except siege cost -20% wood to All units cost -20% wood, blast furnace, (ok for this civ to miss scorpions in favor of their unique unit [but then thick arrows from unique unit go through units like scorpions]), demolition raft, hoardings, sappers, and crop rotation.
    8. Sicilians: Give them the normal watch tower, guard tower, and keep. Move the Donjon button to right next to siege workshop button in villager military buildings menu. This will make Donjon the unique military building of the Sicilians. Bonus for land units take less bonus damage to apply to all units. First crusade now does not spawn a one time batch of units for population purposes, but instead does infantry (including unique units) -50% cost for the player researching the tech and for players who are ally to the player that research the tech. Give them thumb ring, Condottiero (even without Italian ally), hussar, paladin, ring archer armor, fortified wall, treadmill crane (all civs should have this tech), architecture, and two man saw.
    7. Mayans: Give them champion, gambesons, siege engineers, arrow slits, gold shaft mining, stable to make xolotl warrior, and feudal and castle age cav armor.
    6. Aztecs: Give them thumb ring, halberdier, stable, bloodlines, husbandry, xolotl warrior, heavy scorpion, all 5 imperial age blacksmith upgrades, galleon, masonry, keep, hoardings, and two man saw.
    5. Berbers: Give them arbalester, parithian tactics, halberdier, gambesons, instead of upgrading to cavalier they upgrade to slightly stronger Arabian knight, shipwright, architecture, keep, sappers, sanctity, block printing, and two man saw.
    4. Gujaras, Why forage bushes spawn underneath the town center? Make them spawn randomly within the range of the town center, maybe 1 under it. The garrison with mills bonus buffed to give them food for each sheep in mill like relic gold but for food. Maybe this is best to become available for all civs. Also garrison fishing ships in dock is great feature to give to all civs. Give them parithian tactics, squires, gambesons, champion, pikeman, halberdier, ring archer armor, blast furnace, dry dock, siege engineers, arrowslits, faith instead of heresy, block printing, and two man saw. The shrivamsha rider should be considered the knight line replacement for Gujaras so its gold cost should not matter.
    3. Spanish: give them parithian tactics, siege engineers, and crop rotation. For that, just make it 15% faster building in dark age and give them treadmill crane but push it up to imperial age.
    2. Burgundians: Flemish revolution should simply enable the unit to be created in town center. Not this change the villagers thing. They were equivalent or better than the champion so now burgundians are more incentivized to use their barracks. Give them thumb ring, supplies, gambesons, bloodlines, heavy scorpion, heated shot, siege engineers, and either shipwright or dry dock.
    1. Portuguese: give them squires, hussar, paladin, shipwright, arrowslits, hoardings, illumination, and gold shaft mining to help them overcome their nerfs.
    Winner:
    8. Yes I like the infantry buffs, but I think a few more civs should get a little more especially on the losers side.
    7. Vikings have a great tech tree for their purposes though I would give them techs but only if they start losing battles statistically.
    6. Ethiopians are good, they have their fast creation time unique unit and their full tech tree siege workshop with torsion engines.
    5. Good buff for the goths otherwise they simply lack protection of favor of mass infantry in the late game.
    4. Dravidians: Looks like they are doing better despite missing so much stuff on land but have full technology tree dock and a unique ship.
    3. Malay: I would rather castle age cav armor but the infantry buff they got is ok.
    2. Incas: They have a good tech tree, but give them stable and feudal castle age cav armor for the xolotl warrior.
    1. Malians: YES YES YES Gbeto (castle age) finally has more hp than loom villager!!!
