    • @nunyabiznez6381
      @nunyabiznez6381 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many ways to obtain electricity but not all of them are practical. my grandfather built an apparatus like a giant crystal radio set to receive electricity from the AM broadcast antenna next door. He had 40 amp service to begin with which was typical 80 years ago. This ran 100% of his electrical devices but they weren't many. He used over 1000 lbs of copper wiring to set it up. I attempted to duplicate his results. There is an AM radio broadcast antenna across the street from me and I spent a few thousand dollars building a scaled down version of his apparatus and it runs all my lights. But I have high efficiency LED lights which combined total no more than about 80 watts. I rarely use more than 20 watts at a time. However, my system isn't practical as an alternative energy source as it cost more to build than I would save in electric cost. Solar would have been more cost effective. I did this to see if it could be done. But if you have access to a huge amount of copper wire then you could make it practical.
      Likewise, obtaining electrical current from the ground or a great many sources. You can hook up some wires to various fruits and vegetables and get a current that will turn on an LED. To run your air conditioner you would need thousands of dollars worth of material to build something that would be able to suck enough juice out of the Earth to keep it going.
      I charge my smart phone with a portable solar charger. It does take time to charge but it also works. If you really want a practical alternative source of electricity I suggest a generator hooked up to a bicycle with a storage battery and then just run D.C. devices.

    • @miketaylor00
      @miketaylor00 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nunyabiznez6381 They didn't use a ton of copper. They built 2 Tesla coils and then ran about a 12 awg wire along the ground between them and then about 30 ft away. They were able to power light bulbs and run a toy boat with wireless power. They just had to be grounded and within range. It could be cost effective if the research and money was invested. It would be the same concept as cell towers but with power.

      In person, speaking to someone, I wouldn't have them look up the definition of a resistor. They were already on the net. It's about efficiency. I don't know about 7 year olds, but I'd use whatever explanation is mostly likely to be understood by the level of knowledge assumed to be held by the specific individual. What tesla wanted to do was transmit power through the earth. If you transmit it at the right frequency, the earth is your power cable. You only need to build a receptacle station to relocate power to homes, businesses and so forth. Imagine nearly zero black outs, power stations hundreds of miles away from cities. You could go all nuclear, solar and wind easily.
