    Awesome, makes me so homesick! I grew up about 15 miles away in Albion. My late father made that same hike when he was 75 years old! Your video truly captures the essence of that spectacular place. I can almost smell and taste it!

      I passed one person on the trail. It was on the way down. It was an old man about 75 hiking up there by himself. We didn’t speak but I think about that guy from time to time. I hope someday that’s me.

    Such a great video, with just the ambient noise and no voiceover. We camp at the Independence Lakes every year. Unfortunately, it has been "discovered" and is now super-crowded on Summer weekends. For those that fish, only lake #1 and #2 have fish. the cool thing is, both are planted with arctic grayling. Very interesting fish to catch. I have camped at all the campsites shown in this vid, multiple times! Fun fact: Cache Peak is the highest peak in Idaho South of the Snake River. Also, Idaho is famous for having thousands of natural alpine lakes, BUT... there are only 6 south of the Snake River. 4 of them are at Independence.

      Thanks Nathan. Great fishing tips! I just bought a tenkara rod I can try out there

    I could totally relate to the footing mishap 😁 I always get bruised and scratched when I hike because I somehow end up with a minor mishap with my footing. The best yet was slipping on rocks in Jump Creek and getting a bloody knee and elbow. I'm just glad no one else saw it happen 😆

    • @JonConti
      @JonConti  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha well everyone saw me slip now! It’s just part of the fun! 😀 I haven’t been to Jump Creek yet! Been all around this state and that place is less than an hour away from where I live. I should go check it out.

      Thanks! It was tough to make while trying to climb in those conditions. I used one of the books Gerry gave me to plan the trip. I had it with me on the hike so tell him thanks!

    Nice video edit touch when you hit the stick at the top maching the audio clap!!!!

      Ha thanks! That shot was tough, and I played with that part more than anything in the edit. So it's good to know someone took notice of it!

      Thanks man, tough to get with all that wind. By the end the tripod wouldn't stand up. I had to use my daypack and some rocks to weigh it down for the howling shot!

    Very mellow video with mostly natural sounds only. That camp table was awesome. Was that a basketball hoop or non-regulation corn hole target in camp? Also, I liked the fact that you kept it real by leaving in the mis-step where you almost fell. I’m going to guess you spent a little time deciding whether to keep that shot in or delete/reshoot it...What song/artist is at the end of video?

    • @JonConti
      @JonConti  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Morgan! I actually knew right away when I had the mis step that it was going to make it. I'm kind of editing in my head as I go.The song is "Calling Me" by OOYY.
