Allahuma baarik - been following pfida for 3 years now - Pfida indeed does have a more humanised ethical approach when doing affordability assessment and throughout the whole process ... great interview!
Please don’t take this the wrong way but when did this Islamic rule come in that they can’t pay interest and what’s stopping other religions doing the same thing
I don't understand the question, but maybe this will help: in Islam, dealing with interest is not permitted, whether that is buying or selling. Regarding the 2nd part of your comment, I assume your asking if non muslims can use the pfida model, then yes they can, it's very similar to shared ownership.
It comes from the Qur'aan, where it is impermissible to deal with interest. Islamic law encompasses not just personal/spiritual matters but also lays out a framework for financial dealings and beyond.
RIBA is haram but Allah swt wouldn’t want Muslims to be without. Like if we are so staunch on RIBA we can’t live in a western country. Even money is RIBA, day by day the £1 coin I hold in my hand through no fault of mine is engaging in RIBA. So if we use RIBA to fight RIBA This is my take! Muslims are amongst the most successful business people and entrepreneurs. You don’t think SMEs with Muslim directors don’t use RIBA.
Money in and of itself - is not riba. How people trade with it could result in ribbawi transaction. Lending money and then asking for extra is riba. Trading with funds and partaking in risk etc is halal. And Allah knows best. Please be mindful when making these statements.
What’s your thoughts on shared ownership models?
An amazing interview. Thank you to all involved. May Allah be pleased with you all and reward you accordingly 🙏🏾

Yes, they seem to have a unique model.

Would it be possible to remortgage from a traditional mortgage into this model?
