Great video thank you. Been looking into my handbrake problems for a while. Glad I found your video. Had put a much better picture in my head of the compensator end and what the mini one looks like. :)
Thanks for the video, brings back memories. The adjusters with a screwdriver is a pain and very fiddly. Yes it is a common fault with the pins pulling through the backing plate. The Rovers is the same set up as the BMWs, you don't need to buy a new backing plate or new pins from the other side. Get a penny and drill a hole in the middle. Put the penny on the other side of the backing plate hole, ie rear, and put your pin through that. It takes a lot of pressure to push the spring down and turn the pin to lock but it is a darn sight easier than replacing a backing plate!
Exactly what I was looking for, my 75 has the identical issue right down to someone putting a bolt on as they had ran out of thread. Going to order the mini handbrake now 👍🏼
Some Ebay breakers list 2 options but I presume the silver looking (earlier ?) one like shown in the video... Rover 75 and R50 Mini were just a couple of years apart.

@@mrkstrlng believe or not, in the process of replacing the handbrake, I ended up fixing the issue by adding another bolt 👍🏼
Keep the videos up mate 👍
Thanks
Great idea but what model of mini and year is the compensator off ?
it would be r50, r52, r53 (2001-2006)
Two type of cable listed for the mini does it matter which one? They look all but the same
Hi Stuart. I believe it's a r50/r52/r53 mini compensator needed.
@@mrkstrlng Got one off ebay 100% better job than the shackle trick, not that bad to fit i didnt take the seats out.

Thanks, I'm doing this exact job next week. Do the front seats need removing?
No Ben they dont. But would make it easier. Good luck 🤞
And it lasts about 2 months then dies.I’ve had 2 and both went the same.Seller didn’t want to know.DONT BUY IT
In what way did it fail? I have never seen one fail in 10 years, alot stronger than the oe unit.
