Looks like a Ludwig Supraphonic. Same snare John Bonham used to play. They've got such a distinct sound. You can also hear it on songs like Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain," Heart's "Barracuda" and Rolling Stones' "Miss You" for a clear example of the sound.
@@strangehominid yea, I think he's trying to preserve his voice on tour* because on most of the modern albums (like autumn in particular) his voice sounds pretty full. But age is likely another factor
There are parts in this song that are not simple at all. The delays between the backing and lead vocal delivery, the synchronization between the guitar and synth solos, the synth fills, etc.
hmm i actually liked the red album, all the songs were 5/5s IMO except 1 or 2 which were still 4/5... ive always been a weezer fan and have followed them since the first weezer song i heard back in the 90s so i guess thats why i still like the stuff theyre releasing. sometimes it just takes a while to realize how awesome something really is, i wasnt much of a fan of the green album at first, now i love it.
@ineedanamerightnow if i remember correctly, i think i read somewhere that this was one of Mikey's last performances with the band before he suffered his breakdown. at this time, Rivers was making a lot of business and personnel decisions related to the band, so maybe leaving Mikey's face time down was one of them.
I'm giving props to us old fogies haha IE genXers...You guys have no idea how much sleep was lost when we were growing up...I remember staying up to watch 120 minutes haha Headbangers Ball YO! Mtv Raps....Sigh...It was so worth the insomnia...I can't wait to convert my old VHS's and get them uploaded...haha
Apparently Weezer didn't have a bass player for this show. Ok I guess you see part of him for like a second toward the end of the video. As a bass player... we're kind of used to it.
I was in the 5th grade and remember a song by snooop dog and rage (Afro Puffs). Do you know that one? MTV no longer plays music, sad. Except in the morning. :(
@killbarberastreisand hope he's doing well. saw that movie when i was in 6th grade. one of the best underground movies of the 90s. made my girlfriend watch it the other day for the first time on netflix, she loved it
Wow....I actually remember TAPING this off of MTV2....and losing it! Well kids, let me tell a tale of a thing called a VCR. So, you had to sit next to your tv and VCR, wait for a show to end, then press record to cue up something you wanted. If you were really clever, and needed to record something deep in to the night, there were ‘tabs’ that you could remove on the side of the cassette tape and extend a 4 hour video into an 8 hour video! I’m not even that old and kids don’t know how good they’ve got it with Netflix and on demand streaming now....
This era of Weezer is untouchable.
Rivers is such an idiot that he's embarrassed by this era of weezer
One of their finest b-sides. Pinkerton really reminds me of old J-pop songs from the 1970s/early 1980s.
You know one of Rivers' side projects is a J-pop band right?
Yeah I know that. It was a duo with the dude from Alister right?
could u name some specific bands like that please, id love to check them out :o
like what?
Momoe Yamaguchi and Shinji Tanimura come to mind.
I fucking love Weezer fans "They did not have Brian's vocals up loud enough"
I still think this is one of their best/most memorable songs.:D
Can't beat a good vocal line guitar solo
Green Album would like a word with you
This is one of the good ones
@@jacobpullen6949 agreed
Whats that mean
@@andrewoid4711 like how the guitar solo is just Rivers vocal melody when he’s singing the verses but on guitar
how many frontmen can pull off a sweater vest? only one. fucking rivers!
man that snare sounds good, great band and song!

ha ha ya! tht snrd is epic meng!
Never get bored of this song.
Back when Weezer wrote songs about love and feeling... oh how I miss those days
the white album is a good throwback
Brown Stones looks like their new album might be a return to Rivers trying to top charts :P
HA
Love and incel feelings
What is EWBAITE & White
WHAT THE HELL. RIVERS VOICE BARELY CHANGES EVER. HE- LIKE- I DON'T EVEN KNOW. HE'S JUST SO GOOD AT SINGING!
Recently he's done more of a baby voice live (somewhat irksome), but yeah he's been pretty consistent vocally for a while
@@enthnd03it's very noticable in recent recordings of the blue album tour. there's a lack of weight in his singing now, and it's really detrimental.
@@strangehominid yea, I think he's trying to preserve his voice on tour* because on most of the modern albums (like autumn in particular) his voice sounds pretty full. But age is likely another factor
anyone notice a man who seems to be very similar to Kurt Cobain in the left background of the stage the whole concert...
yeah his new name is rivers cuomo
This might be my favorite weezer song.
How… did this track not make the album. One of their best
Just didn't really fit Pinkerton
@@enthnd03 I would’ve forgiven them lol
@@enthnd03 i think it perfectly fits pinkerton
R.I.P. Mikey
This is a weezer fans wet dream. Wow...lol
Wavves did an amazing cover to this
Wavves is a great band
So simple and so perfect...

wow hardly any mikey D:
i think i could only see his legs in this vid
shame, he was a rockin' bassist
I remember when TH-cam first started up and there were probably 30 videos up at the time that wasn't a webcam blog, this was one of them.

They need to get back to making music like this. Pure rock perfection.
Ahh, classic Weezer will never be beaten.

Why is Brian's mic so quiet?!
The Pinkerton b-sides will be uploaded to a capsule and sent off into the galaxy as the only remaining piece of human information after earth's demise

Brown Stones lol. Hopefully you’ve gotten the attention you wanted 12 years ago.

Brown Stones bro you answered and that’s enough, hope you’re still bumping this song forever and always.
why does it look like they're playing at a wedding in Wexford?
in this live they really turned down the roughness and speed from the original recording
brian is great
I really wish Mikey were still here with us… Scott is amazing but Mikey was the best bass Weezer has ever had. Wish I was around to see him play live.
Better than Matt Sharp? Ludicrous
sigma bass line
Nice, and it's funny how atom willard shows up behind pat at the very end.

best song of weezer. ever

if you play this vid to the everyday person, they won't believe this is weezer.
Weezer need to show them what they've got! like on this vid
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
angus!
The Angus version of this song is online somewhere 👍
Yeah, I feel the same. It might take awhile to get used to the different sounds Weezer takes on, but I always end up falling in love! =)

mikey is right there dude
i love thé emotion in this song & the guitar solo!
this is what power pop is supposed to be. this i what weezer is supposed to be
OH MY GOD ITS WEEZER
I consider myself pretty ride or die for weezer, but it does sting a little that they had their peak so early on in their careers.
fav weezer song tbh
i remember when this first aired, have it on vhs somewhere
mikey 🤍
wow
damn this video is ancient
I had this recorded in vhs these little concerts were great think I also had the strokes

I wish i had the right tabs to play that solo!

WAAAAAAY too fucking slow. They really killed any energy this song had.
I'm glad I watched that movie Angus!
@TheOkkiEpisodes yeah, Atom was hired as a drum tech for Weezer after he left Rocket from the Crypt.
i miss weezer.
They wrote this for the film "Angus"
why oh why do they not play b-sides anymore! susanne in 2008, c'mon!
