I fully agree with you about Japan being incredible. My grandfather loved to travel, and I was fortunate to accompany him since early childhood on annual trips abroad. Japan was his favorite country to visit, and it quickly became the same for me. Watching you travel on the Shinkansen and eating the bento box meals is pure torture, as I have had to postpone my planned trip to Japan because of Covid-19 entry restrictions. For future trips to Japan, may I suggest obtaining a Japan Rail Pass. The passes may be obtained in either green (first class) or ordinary class, and are good for 7, 14, and 21 days. Reservations for green class seats are without charge, and strongly encouraged so that seats are guaranteed, especially during busy travel holidays in Japan. A seven day green car Japan Rail Pass is about 37,000 yen, which is less than the 39,000 yen total for two "single" tickets on a round trip between Tokyo and Osaka. Moreover, the pass can be used on buses, non-Shinkansen trains, ferries (such as to MIyajima Island), etc., operated by Japan Railways - this even includes the Narita Express Train between Narita Airport and Tokyo. At the end of a trip, when returning to Tokyo for the flight home (or to any other city in Japan for the return flight). if you have large/heavy suitcases, I recommend using one of the luggage delivery companies in Japan. They can dispatch it to an office at the airport for pick-up, or to your hotel. The fees are quite reasonable, and the vast majority of accommodations in Japan can make the arrangements. Just be certain to allow for at least one full day to send the luggage, especially if travelling from a distant location. I used this very efficient service when purchasing too much on a trip, or making brief stops along the way back to Tokyo.

7:39 No, it's the Himeji castle. The bento box you bought in Shin Osaka station is actually made in Himeji and mainly sold Himeji station. In Japan, you can also buy a bento box sold at a nearby station.
6:11. The Shinkansen’s have service numbers on them. Similar to a flight number. In fact it’s on the ticket on the left hand side. It should say something like Nozomi 111. Or something like that.
I’m confused. I thought that seats C and D were the seats to get on the Nozomi Green Car going from Tokyo to Kyoto to see Mt Fuji. Is it the opposite? Are seats situated backwards with respect to direction of travel perhaps?

In this day and age, I can't believe that a train would provide for smokers. I am a smoker, but in most places in the USA and Europe, I feel like a criminal, even smoking outdoors! Everyone looks at you probably thinking, "are you crazy; still smoking cigarettes"?

Anago is salt water fish and unagi is fresh water fish.
