Ah, another day another day I screwed something up. Turns out the subtitles got turned around and it was actually the Mighty Fine Batch that beat out the Storyteller batch. Sorry folks!
One of th e best things about this channel is the different pallet each of you have makes it better than many others. It gives you a more realistic idea of what's going on. As always thank you for wonderful videos!
This is my jam. I'm a Beam freak. I love my Booker's, Baker's, Knob Creek SiBs. I say the Beam funk that I like is a black licorice funk. It's a finish that I really enjoy. Charlie's batch is my favorite from 2023, by far, and the other 3 overlap more. I'm in my happy place with these premium Beams.
Love jim beam, I get caramel, peanut shells, burnt brown sugar, and a bold oak. My favorite is knob creek 120 proof store picks, but still enjoy bookers. Some bookers taste allot better with couple drops of water, takes away the oak with more sweet. Great vid thanks
Initially when they were trying them 2023-04 was A and 2023-03 was C so now I’m confused. So either the subtitles were wrong or Mighty Fine Batch beat out StoryTeller Batch
Kurt, I agree with your assessment. As a previously hardcore bookers fan I have been finding my palate to be changing a bit away from Booker’s. And I think it’s that same note you’re talking about I find in all of them. A sour wood note I think is an accurate description. I’m finding it a little off putting lately. I got the same in little book 5 and 7 too. I have found I enjoy them all much more on their own but in blinds that note starts to amplify and I end up being unimpressed by any of them when I go back and forth between them.
My Kentucky Tea bottle was solid but very spicy with a dry woody finish when new. 6 months or so later it’s absolutely fantastic. Amazing what some time can do.
Dusty peanut is classic beam. That taste in your mouth when you go through a recently harvested field of peanuts with all the peanut and dirt in the air. Sounds funky, but absolutely delicious
I love some Beam products-Knob Creek, Baker’s and Booker’s. Here’s what I love about them. For me, the profile is nutty, sweet, spicy (like rye spice), dark fruit and an earthy minerality that I really dig. I can see how it’s not for everyone, but it sets their products apart and it hits just right for me. Also I love your channel. You guys are the best.
Omg. So happy mighty fine beat storyteller. Just bought a bottle at beam gift shop. No cell signal or Wi-Fi in that place had me with big regrets walking out.

Living in Canada, Booker's is a little bit harder to find, but I was able to buy 2023 01, the 2020 01 from the shelf at the local LCBO....and while visiting my son in Colorado in 2017, I found a dusty bottle of 2015-04 "Oven buster Batch" in a remote liquor store. Still havent opened them yet, but will be interesting to see the differences 7 years makes....
I always find that if I go hot with my first drink, it's drinks even hotter. You guys have made mention of this before. Just something I always think of when I'm going to pour something with a high proof.
Bookers are my jam. Love their dusty shelled cracked peanuts at a Logan's/Texas Roadhouse with a slight creamy peanut butter note with some caramelized brown sugars. Love the Baker's 7 (older the better) as my everyday Booker's Jr. 😁
The issue I have with purchasing Booker's is they apparently can use a different blend/juice for outside the US so a review on here will not necessarily apply to those in other countries (I am in Canada). I have one that in the US would be the Charlie's Batch but here there is an E on the batch number and the age statement is slightly different. The proof seems to match what I have seen on here but I have heard from others that they have a slightly different proof with the same batch number.
I have noticed the different proofs with same batches but doing more digging they were actually the same. This is between the 01 and 01Es. So I’m not sure what was going on but I found pics out there of bookers labels with different proofs than what turned out to be on the shelf bottles. Initially I thought our 01Es were different because of that, and maybe they were before I started getting into them (2018) but they seem to match up.
@@chargerguy74 Well I only have my own experience where it had the same proof but a slightly different age statement than on the US bottles featured on here. Since even a small difference in aging and proof can affect the flavours it can make it difficult to be accurate. Of course I admit that different barrels often have slightly different characteristics as well. As they say it is what you enjoy that makes the purchase worth while or not worth it.
@@Chilliwack56 was it actually a different age or just not as precise an age as the US bottles? I have noticed ours are just years and months, and doesn’t include the days
@@chargerguy74 Not sure, it is possible. I purchased the bottle earlier this year and have not looked at it since then. Hopefully it is the same as the US since I heard decent things about it.
Interesting take by Kurt... something funky or sour...I like bookers profile. It's like vanilla, wet oak sometimes dry oak, sometimes char, the funk comes from the age of the wet oak. It's balanced from the perspective that it encompasses variances in age and oak levels along with baking spice intensity levels...if you want a candy bomb or you prefer sweet then Bookers probably isn't your jam 😃😃
I always find that I don’t like Bookers upon opening and first pour. The neck pour myth is true with this line. When I go back to the bottles after about 6 months of air time they get so much better.
10:06 What Kurt means is a hydrant. 🤠 11:23 I don't care for Jim Beam white label, which is the only expression of that brand I've had. I have had Knob Creek (9 year old single barrel) and Old Grand-Dad (bonded and 114), both of which are beam products. I've heard people talking about a nutty note from Beam products, but I've never detected it (I do get pecans from Dickel and peanuts from Heaven Hill). And *to me* Knob Creek and Old Grand-Dad taste different enough to be from different distilleries.
This is why I like this duo! I appreciate the differences between Trenton and Kurt. If yall agreed on everything this channel would be boring! Thanks for being honest Kurt so we could follow Trenton's lead here.
Much like Curt, I love Wild Turkey products, but I also love the Jim Beam small batch collection. This year, I've only been able to get the Charlie's Batch Bookers in my area and I thought it was very good. I would describe most Beam products as earthy, nutty and sweet with that distinctive Beam yeast profile. I'm sipping on some Rare Breed as I watch video and I enjoy Charlie's Batch as much Rare Breed.
Love the vids .. Could I make a suggestion it would be really cool if you could do the latest little book chapter 7, since I’ve never seen you guys do one of those? Again keep up the good work fellas
Love your site. I would like to suggest that you go over the persentage of wheat or rye, corn in addition the proof n the bourbon. Keep up the good work.
I'm surprised he used the CORRECT construction terms for a hose bib. Definitely has some construction experience. 😂 I'm a commercial plumber so that's why that part stuck out to me. And I agree, 100%, that Bookers has a sour note. Undrinkable even, for me.
I've got all four at home and I haven't opened 2023-03 yet, but I've REALLY enjoyed 2023-04 and 01. I've only had one pour from the 02 and didn't really care for it!
I’ve never tried Bookers or seen it on the shelf, but I’m a big fan of Baker’s and Knob Creek, so I guess that makes me a Jim Beam fan. I assume I’d like these too.
I love Bakers and KC store picks (almost always pick them up when in the $60 range). I have not had a Bookers I liked yet. There always seems to be a too strong sour taste.
Agree with Kurt actually - because Charlie’s Batch is the most balanced of the 4. Mighty Fine is fruity and sort of a roller coaster hit on front-to-mid-to-final palate.
I was lucky enough to get the 03 and 04 batch at msrp within about a month in a half period. They’re both my first bottles of bookers so I didn’t have anything to base it on but I like both of them. I will say if you’re not a fan of the nutty Jim beam style flavors they probably aren’t for you. Luckily I like knob creek single barrel and bakers 107 so both are great. I also got a bottle of Jim beam single barrel recently that’s 108 proof and it’s great as well.
Bookers is the quintessential flavors of bourbon in my humble opinion and the heat!!!...sweet and candy just wasn't how it was made 100 years ago, imo😃. Sure it's not for everyone but I can appreciate it for what they are trying to do 😃
Love bookers and knob creek, but haven’t cared for Baker’s. My neighbor always buys bookers as his go to so I drink his. I did see each of these bottles for $120 each and passed on them for that price.
I love your channel, guys, even though most of the Bourbons you review are unavailable here in Canada and the ones we do get are insanely expensive due to taxes.
Nice to see all four in a blind! I did this a couple of nights ago and Charlie’s was first, then Storyteller, Mighty Fine, and last was the Apprentice batch. However some things didn’t seem to match up here?
It’s interesting when you guys first reviewed 2023-02 I was in the same page as you guys as your review. I’ve powered through and gotten mine down halfway and it’s opened up quite nice. I don’t get any of that sour note.
Wasn't the Charlie batch the lost bottle? I must of missed some content or something as I think they made a mistake saying they hadn't reviewed for over a year. I didn't think they had one at all. 🤔
I haven't seen the 2023-04 yet, but I thought that 2023-03 Mighty Fine Batch was the best one I've had to date and in fact it's the only one I've ever purchased a spare bottle of. Looking forward to finding the -04. Great video guys! Sure wish I could have seen Trenton eat something vile. Just saying.... 🙂
Great video as I "Always" enjoy the comments, reactions and the "What's". Great job guys... Suggestion, perhaps the both of you need to do a blind and not talk. Write down your comments and comparisons to see the end line up. I am wondering if all the comments to each other are changing your opinions or end results. Again, really enjoy you both and your laughter. Mom, stocking stuffer idea from Trent. A hair comb.... 🤫
To me the Bookers profile tastes a lot like pecans. And not just the nut itself but if you’ve ever had a pecan straight from the tree the “kernel” around the inside of the pecan is super bitter and sour in a kind of earthy way. You can really taste that bitter pecan in the Apprentice Batch where it’s almost like a pecan pie where someone didn’t shell the pecan all the way. You can sort of taste it in the Mighty Fine Batch but it’s much less noticeable.
Had the Bookers Storyteller in a blind with ER and BT and the Bookers blew them away. To the extent the ER barely tasted like bourbon and the BT tasted like brown sugar water. If Bookers wasn't so expensive I would grab it but for the price I'll take some Knob Creek or Bakers 7.
I can agree with Kurt here. After drinking Rowan's Creek, I'm just not a fan of the Booker's profile, especially for the price. Lacks sweetness; misses balance.
Was drinking my bookers mighty fine batch the other night. The finish to me was damp oak. Not bad, just different. overall a good bottle, but probably only worth 65-75 dollars.
Bookers to me is similar to Bakers in that I get that biscuit/bready note. But Bakers has more baking chocolate notes and I'd say a more typical bourbon profile. Bookers has some tart wood notes, tends to the sweeter and can even be minerally. Its honestly not a favorite of mine. Its fine, I'd still class it as "good" but definitely not a favorite, probably not even top 10 for me.
First time I have seen such a differentiation between Kurt and Trenton on a blind. Almost exact opposites. Just goes to show that bourbon, like food, has profiles that appeal to some and do not appeal to others. I will say that I generally have enjoyed the pours of Bookers I have had over the years, but I tried the Apprentice in a tasting a couple of months ago and did not like it at all. Thought it was thin and tasted like hay.
Ah, another day another day I screwed something up. Turns out the subtitles got turned around and it was actually the Mighty Fine Batch that beat out the Storyteller batch. Sorry folks!

You can sort of taste it in the Mighty Fine Batch but it’s much less noticeable.
That's correct! Bookers tastes like pecans. Love it.
It’s gonna be a good day. Not an igneous cloud in the sky!
At the beginning, A is storyteller batch but at the end she said it was C?
Had the Bookers Storyteller in a blind with ER and BT and the Bookers blew them away. To the extent the ER barely tasted like bourbon and the BT tasted like brown sugar water. If Bookers wasn't so expensive I would grab it but for the price I'll take some Knob Creek or Bakers 7.
So the mighty fine batch is the best of the year
The purple is fuckin incredible
I get crazy bubble gum notes from a bakers 7..not so much from a Bookers but I only have the storyteller from 2023 .
Trenton, between "Igneous" and not knowing "Quarterly"; brother, I'm starting to lose faith in you.
I can agree with Kurt here. After drinking Rowan's Creek, I'm just not a fan of the Booker's profile, especially for the price. Lacks sweetness; misses balance.
Everyone knows Bookers is the new alka seltzer, nothing better to help you get over a cold.
Was drinking my bookers mighty fine batch the other night. The finish to me was damp oak. Not bad, just different. overall a good bottle, but probably only worth 65-75 dollars.
Apprentice Batch should’ve went back to vocational school. Igneous rock = volcanic rock. Cumulonimbus clouds produce thunderstorms.
Love y’all. But love Beam too. Cheers!
…P.S. can i have your leftover beam products????
I would like to see a drywall video lol
The Bob Ross of drywall.
How about some good Roquefort cheese for Trenton to taste?
First time I have seen such a differentiation between Kurt and Trenton on a blind. Almost exact opposites. Just goes to show that bourbon, like food, has profiles that appeal to some and do not appeal to others. I will say that I generally have enjoyed the pours of Bookers I have had over the years, but I tried the Apprentice in a tasting a couple of months ago and did not like it at all. Thought it was thin and tasted like hay.
Just bought Storyteller today
Just saying. I would watch a truck tour.😂
