Imagine a universe alive with awareness, where consciousness is not confined to brains or biology but is an intrinsic, all-permeating essence of existence. The cosmos, often seen as a vast, unfeeling mechanism, may instead be humming with a universal presence that transcends time and space-a revelation that upends our deepest assumptions about reality.
Science tells us that the universe has a beginning and an eventual end, its existence bound within finite dimensions.
From a deterministic viewpoint, every event-past, present, and future-has already unfolded, like the grooves on a compact disc, eternally fixed. What we experience as change, as the passage of time, is merely our consciousness moving through this cosmic "track," giving the illusion of dynamism. Yet, this understanding invites a deeper question: What is the nature of the awareness that observes this journey?
Here lies the astonishing truth: consciousness is not a fleeting byproduct of complex neural activity. It is not tethered to time, nor is it a mere accident of evolution. Instead, consciousness is the fundamental thread weaving through the fabric of reality itself. It exists everywhere and always, not as something generated by matter but as the very essence from which matter arises. Every atom, every star, every shadow and beam of light participates in this infinite sea of awareness.
This revelation transforms how we see ourselves and our place in the cosmos. Free will? It may be an illusion, a narrative created by our temporal minds to navigate this vast, interconnected field. Prayers and supplications to deities, while comforting, do not alter the immutable nature of existence. Yet, this does not diminish their value-they are echoes of our innate desire to connect with something greater, a reflection of the universal consciousness within us.
We are living in extraordinary times, on the cusp of a paradigm shift in understanding reality. The universe is not a cold, indifferent machine. It is a living, conscious whole, inviting us to awaken to the profound interconnectedness of all things. What will you do with this newfound awareness? The possibilities are as infinite as the consciousness that binds us all.

    What is consciousness?
One might start by creating a definition of consciousness but
in the attempt one is immediately stumped.
    Why?
Because the definition is the answer to the question.
One would not ask the question if one already knew the answer.
One knows one is conscious of stuff but
being conscious of stuff does not make one
conscious of the cause or causes of one's being conscious of stuff.
In short, I know I am conscious of stuff but
I do not know how I am conscious of stuff.
    But I have a theory.

Best guess, it is, as necessary as breathing, any life force must at least be aware of its surroundings
to survive long enough to replicate itself. Start removing your neurons in the billions see if you are
    self aware any more.

Evolution is not to CONSCIOUSNESS. Rather, evolution is for that cognised by CONSCIOUSNESS. Again, CONSCIOUSNESS doesn't emerge from anything, for everything rather emerges from the CONSCIOUSNESS only.
To get a glimpse of what CONSCIOUSNESS is as revealed by the science of CONSCIOUSNESS called VEDANTA, please refer the book :
