Fine job! I was changing the accessory tensioner on a T6 when I noticed leaking. Now I know. Thank you. You're tie-wrap technique saves a ton of work!!!
Thanks budy your videos help me alot for my 60 r 2004 🙏🙏
Glad to hear it, Mario!
Hello, thank you for this simple explanation!
I am right now busy to do the same job… one more time thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
I like how you keep reminding us that these steps take time. I just did this on my 1998 S70 and, honestly, it was a bitch. Worth it it though for money savings and self esteem. Very nice tutorial!!
Good video, but replace Timing belt at the same time? 🤔
Great point, Dave! Just needed water pump. Belt is good. If you are going to do the job at the shop, I would replace belt, tensioner, water pump ect. at once.
Thanks, i will use this tips. Where is so sunny Autumn ?
Awesome vehicle!! Tricky business changing out a water pump.
You got that right!
Hey i need some help if you're still responding to comments on this video, i did everything you did in the video, finished up and got everything put back together. Everything was going fine till i was turning the crankshaft and it just stopped dead in its tracks, can move it at all. Any ideas on what caused it and/or how to fix it? I dont wanna crank the engine in case its seized. Or am i overreacting and its not an issue?
Good Work!! Thank you from BRAZIL HAHA
I think Im the only one with a Volvo s60 2001 in this country.
Você é muito bem-vindo Roberto! Obrigado pelo seu feedback gentil!
Are you still there Roberto?
Great video bro but the only thing I would suggest is way less gasket maker! It already has a gasket! If you use too much sometimes they work against each other. I usually use a thin thin coating by applying it to my finger and then rubbing it on both sides of the gasket. The cleaning job was wonderful very important!
Hey Emoney! Appreciated your advice. Thanks for your feedback)
Just got a 2002 Volvo S80 with a leaking Water Pump, looks like a good walk through, how difficult is setting time if I do decide to go ahead and replace the belt at the same time as the water pump?
If you're not going to replace a water pump belt and tensioner are pretty easy to do. It takes about 2-3 hours. If pump is leaking and hasn't been changed I would replace it for sure with OEM quality one only.
Had new pump installed,on volvo xc 90 picked it up and discovered heater not working. Contacted shop and they stated system was contaminated by aluminum
shaving from pump failure. They reassembled with shavings remaining in the system . Suggestions?
baCK FLUSH THE SYSTEM TO GET RID OF ALUM.
might need to replace heater core but it should flush oiut.
Do you know how to remove that main aluminum coolant pipe that you can see at 10:10 ? That pipe seal is leaking in my car.
awesome vid man this is easier than i remember i did this kinda style waterpump years ago as a teenager on an eclipse now i got a volvo just the name scares me and all the horror stories LOL but its cool the WP not that horrific the sensitive part is keeping the timing right thats about it
Thanks buddy!
How are you locking the cams in place? Valve spring pressure will usually move one or both cams immediately once tensioner is released, and you will never get it back in position overcoming spring pressure. Cam locking tool is essential.
not true at all. i've done tjhis at least 4 times and cam shafts have never moved.
cam lock tool is for removing the vvt hubs or cam sprokets.
@@gerardjones7881 Nobody should ever try this without the proper tool, the cam locking fixture. Cam lobes are distributed throughout the circumference of the cam, pushed on by strong valve springs, the intake cam is very likely to move, and has on multiple jobs I've done. It's called the right tool for the right job. Hoping to get lucky the cams dont move is foolish. The fixture is only $30 on ebay, no reason to cut corners. You counting on cams not to move under heavy spring pressure is bad advice. People, do the job right....with the right tools. 💯
Thanks! Might try to do my s80s to save like 800$
Amazing explanation 💐
Good work
Thank you so much 😀 Hanif!
I have never seen anyone use an RTV silicone sealant in conjunction with the OEM water pump seal.
i pour Coolant in the reservoir as the engine is turned on but its not flowing down
So the reservoir just fills up and thats it
My car overheats after 5 minutes of driving !
Does that mean that the water pump is bad ?
Because radiator is not clogged
I already passed water from side to side of the radiator and it flows through
Any body please help im new to Volvos
First, check how long it takes for the thermostat to open. Does electrical cooling fan turn on at 95C?
@@PistonShackfan Works
No thermostat
the harmonic balancer did not need to be removed, correct?
That's right, correct.
@@PistonShack thank you very much! I watch all your videos. I I have 06 XC70 with 250,000 miles on it it is a great car I love the turbo and all-wheel I also have a all-wheel drive 2003 4Runner once you start driving an all wheel drive vehicle it's hard to go back to 2 wheel drive whether it is front-wheel drive or rear wheel drive there's just no comparison Orchard Avenue on that. I am now putting by timing belt back on after I replaced the water pump , idler pulley, tensioner pulley and timing belt I just wanted to double check and confirm with you that when the little hole in the harmonic balancer, I'm not sure exactly what it's called. I I set that to 12 for the timing before I took the old timing belt off is it still at 12 and I am about to put on the new timing belt just to confirm when that is set to 12 straight up your on your harmonic balancer timing is correct is that right?
Dude WAAAYYYY too much small talk dialogue both in between steps AND during any particular explanation.
Go elsewhere then. Tf
