- On this adventure, I hike the English Way (The Camino Ingles) from Ferrol to Santiago De Compostella.
I end up taking 4 days to hike the 113 kilometres through the Galician countryside and some pretty villages to arrive in the impressive Santiago.
Join me to get a feel for what the experience of the Camino looks like, and to learn some of its origins which have inspired hundreds of thousands of pilgrims to walk, cycle, ride, wheelchair or sail The Way.
Hi! If you enjoy the video please do me a favour by subscribing, liking and commenting.
Lots more adventures to come!
Thanks
I've given this vid / channel a good boost over in Facebook. Cheers to more views and followers! :) We will be watching :)
Lovely video. Thanks for posting. It was great to see the Inglés in the sunshine. I walked it in May this year, in five days of torrential, horizontal rain. I loved every minute!
I almost feel unqualified with the beautiful weather I had! And even with the Portuguese Camino I did I had almost no rain. Got lucky
Gorgeous. Bloody gorgeous!!!. Excellent storytelling as always.
This was an awesome video. I'm walking the Ingles, my first Camino, for the first time in a couple months so this was a great preview of things to come.
Thanks for your comment. I hope you have a great experience!
Thank you for allowing me to travel with you.
Lots of adventures to come! Say hi to the gang for me!
Thanks Patrick and congratulations on a great video of the Camino. Very timely as I have just followed my cousin Anne and husband John Field sharing their journey on WhatsApp.
Thanks Uncle Des!
@@patrickdavistravel I was watching the video tonight with Olivia and Michael and when we got to your impressive monologue about St James, I said loudly and proudly "That's my Godchild giving this great account". We all learnt a lot from your Camino Pat. My cousin Anne and John found it a very spiritual pilgrimage and attended the Pilgrims mass in the cathedral and were lucky to see the swinging Urn "Botafumeiro"
What an absolutely gorgeous video, the best one of these I've seen. I'm doing this one next year, so thank you for the information.
Thanks for the lovely compliment Jim. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy your experience.
Caminando por la hermosa Galicia.
Si. Me encanta Galicia ❤
Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed your journey, thanks for sharing
Thanks Juney. I am glad you enjoyed.
When I went to Compostella I learnt that the name means "field of stars". The word 'stellae' has also always referred to the headstones or tombstones that are placed in cemeteries. Underneath the cathedral it has been discovered that there is a real field of headstones dating back at least to Roman times and that the church was built over this ancient pagan and I suppose early Christian burial place which has its roots in ancient times. This has been partly excavated I believe. The "stellae" or stars are also a reflection of stars above our heads and were laid out on the ground as headstones / stellae.
Very interesting Peter. Thanks for sharing.
Great video,thanks!
Thanks for watching
New sub here...I enjoyed walking the Camino Ingles through your eyes. Thanks. Buen Camino...
Thanks for your support. Cheers.
What you witness there is the marvelous reclaiming of the indigenous culture after colonialism by the Ottomans. It is remarkably generous, not just industrious to foster a spiritual experience by welcoming pilgrims to their communities. The heart of the people... it’s a beautiful thing.
Otomanos? Indígenas? Pero, en que país piensas que estás? Estás en Galicia, celta y romana. Aquí los árabes (otomanos, dices tú?) no dejaron nada.
History is complex don't don't think? Many different peoples and cultures have influenced the north of Spain.
Nice video mate, we are doing the Ingles mid September and it will be our first. This has just made me more excited for it. Got yourself another subscriber :)
Awesome. Thanks for the message. Hope you enjoy!
I saw you vlogging in Sigüeiro 😄 almost made It into your Video. The white horse gave me a really hard time. It wasn't on a leash and always walked towards me and I am a bit scared of horses. But at least I now know It was friendly 😂 greetings from Germany
Oh was that you that was waiting for the farmer to move the horse on?
@@patrickdavistravel haha gladly there were two spanish women/pilgrims and together we were able to walk past it. So probably there were more pilgrims who struggled 😄
Yes I am sure! How was your walk@@scetterling?
@@patrickdavistravel It was my first Camino. I quite enjoyed It with all the ups and downs in between. First time in my life I had to experience knee pain 🙈 some parts were steeper than I thought. Did Not expect that much Autobahn 😅. Next time i would choose a different Camino, maybe the portuges? How do you feel about the Ingles?
✅ NEW SUB
Thanks for the sub
What time of year did you do it?
Hi! The start of July.
The first day is rubbish.
My least favourite Camino.
Lucky you for having the time and means to have experienced so many.
camino Ingles, Way too much pavement , there are a lot better places to walk
Hi Claude. Yes there is quite a lot! What’s your preferred route?
@@patrickdavistravel Primitivo ,, more wilderness , remember its just a personal opinion you decide what you like as long as you have fun which is the whole idea (enjoy)
Too much pavement is increasingly becoming a problem on the Camino 😢 as traditionally scenic routes are being changed to get pilgrims into the cities so that shops and hotels can benefit from tourist income.
@@JohnVianneyPatron best comment yet !! EX; Portuguese costal route
You can avoid a lot of tarmac if you get off the new official route and follow the original route (the previous official route before they changed it). The old route is clearly marked in the Brierley guide and on various apps.
